How important is getting fit for your irons
DefLord replied to Leftygolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just purchased a set of MP-57 from Ebay but as they said you just got to make sure you do your homework. I saved myself $500.00 from buying a new set - so now I have more money to work with for a Driver and a Putter. But I did have a friend who ordered a Driver from online (not Ebay) and it turned out to be counterfeit. *The person who was selling the MP-57 was selling it because he bought some Burner 2.0* Whats the deal with the Burner 2.0? I did a test swing of the Burner 2.0 and it just seems to fly too much - like it is 1-2 club more than normal. Or am I wrong? I felt no response from it at all - The guy said that the Burner 2.0 was the number 1 selling set of clubs - I was not going to spend $699.99 for a new set of irons. :/ -
Good Recommendation of a Fitter in Houston

Stopped by the other day and not much in the store - nice folks. Kind of hard to say - -
Anyone know of a good fitter in Houston, Texas? Want to get fitted for my next set of clubs - Would Swanson be a good spot? Any other suggestions or feedbacks?

Is there really that much of a difference between the 9.5 degrees and the 10.5 degrees? With 9.5 you get more roll correct? And the 10.5 you get a bit of a higher launch and etc. Am I correct? Right now Im hitting a 9.5 but Im starting to wonder if I should be hitting 10.5. I'm probably going to get myself fitted for a driver sometime soon to ensure Im gettin the best out of the driver. But just wanted some inputs on the degrees. Thanks!

How Many Sets of Irons Do You Have? What Are They?
DefLord replied to Mr.Mongo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Two at this time 1. Taylormade Burner XD - which my wife got me for Xmas last year 2. Ping i10 -
I have tried Pinnacle and I hated them... Some people might like them - but personally I am not a fan of Pinnacle - usually down here they sell these Pinnacle cheap at the Pro Shop. Umm their prices are pretty good... Thanks! But I do agree the Percept Laddies are solid.

Same here - my wife wonders why I have all those clubs/sets/bags in the garage (Got old clubs from the tme I started playing golf) Now I start making a habit of just keeping one set. Right now I have two but one of them is going to go. Cuz I need some new/nice Wedges. But I tell her sometime - its like you with shoes, you can never have too many shoes - just like I can never have too many golf toys. :)

My brother in law has the Tiger Woods for Wii - I have a Wii but I wont touch it and I just got the XBOX 360 version of it. Was afraid it was gonna mess me up! Now i wonder how my brother in law will do the next time I play him a round. :)

Well I went out today and hit both the Pings and the Burner XD today - it is definitely different. XD is more forgiving and as well has a higher trajectory. I do like the feel of th XD so it isn't really that bad. Granted the XD is not as pretty as the Pings at set up - but heck it is the score I am after not necessarily on how pretty it is. But I do find the XD easier to hit at this time. Thanks for your input though!

Can anyone give me a brief assessment on the Burner XD? Is this particular iron for mid-high handicap folks? Is it too forgiving where you won't really pick up on the game? I am currently hitting Ping i10's but I got at a set of Burner XD from my wife for Xmas. Two years ago I played maybe 50 rounds, last year I only played about 5. But this year I see myself back to about 50 rounds again - kind of though about playing with the Burner XD til I get my game back and then go back to my Ping i10. Or am I just being too irrational? I was shootin in the low 90's 2 years ago - the past few months I have been shooting over 100's. :( So just trying to get my game back down to the low 90's and high 80's and work it back down lower. Or just hang on to both - and use both - but if I do would this affect my game play? (Since the TM looks about 1/2" longer than the Ping) Thank you!

I would think you would be able to - if that is where she got them. As long as it looks brand new and has never been used I wouldn't see why they wouldnt exchange it for the same product but different flex. Its not like there is a price difference between the two.

2010 Goals - - Start getting back to playing more (Went from playing about 25-36 rounds in 2008 to about 6 in 2009) - Start working my game back and improving my game - take the game a bit more seriously - Drop my handicap down *its probably in the 25's now since lack of practice/playing time* to about the 10's to 15's - Practice at the driving range at least once a week
-
This is a great application/software.... Definitely will utilize this in 2010 - and I like the print functionality of the scorecard. Keep up the great work!

I have the Rife and I love it - I have putted with the Scotty, but both are very close to each other. But to save the $ in your pocket the Rife was the one for me and I dont regret that decision one bit.

Yes, at this time I am unable to get out and practice/play as much as I would like. Don't get me wrong, the i10's are nice clubs but you gotta be pretty consistent to really enjoy playing these. And at this time, I get really busy and I don't have the time to run and practice or etc as I would like to really effectively benefit from the i10's. So yes, I was just kind of looking around for an opportunity for more forgiveness. Just lookin into options. -

Are the G5 really not that much of a difference from the G10? I am hitting i10's and I'm realizing that I should have gone the G10 route rather than the i10 route. I'm kinda looking around as well for either the G5 or G10 as well. -
Can I get some input on the thoughts of the Ping putters - the blades specifically aka like the Anser blades or the Karsten (whats the difference between the two anyways). Right now Im using an Oddessy 2 Ball Putter - but a buddy of mine had a Ping putter blade and it felt really sweet. Felt like I had more control - so just wanted some inputs. I saw the Karsten was like 90 bucks and the i-series Ansers were like 120 bucks. But have read reviews how some say that the Karsten is good? Inputs and thoughts?

Will be 38 in October - tried the game in my early 20's quit to play ball. Then injured my knee two years in a row then quit playing ball and then 2 years ago started playing golf again. Wished I had never quit in my 20's.

I'm looking into getting a new set of clubs - and was wondering if anyone has any comments pros/cons of getting club fitting at Golfsmith or do you recommend that it is done elsewhere. Just wanted to see some people's experiences if any. Thanks!

Anybody tried the Precept Laddie X?
DefLord replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have tried this ball - I'm a Percept fan myself or Bridgestone that is - since they are made by the same company. This ball came off nicely for me off the tee - but when it came to the irons I kept finding myself a bit short. Personally I prefer the Percept U-Tri. I got more control and distance with these than the Laddies X. But the Laddie X was better priced. But truth be told it really isn't a bad ball - it is a nice ball.
