I never was brand loyal...I usually would try to have a similar Driver and 3 wood, and similar irons and wedges, but now I'm loyal to Taylormade, have been for about 2 1/2 years....they just seem to fit my game, the entire set I'm using right now probably won't change for a while...I've finally got everything how I want it fitted and set up. I may switch back to a Scotty Cameron putter though. The itsy bitsy monza spider is the best putter I've personally used on smooth fast greens, but on bumpy or slower greens, I put better with my cameron...

I need your help on Proj X shafts!!
Batmanrb89 replied to Laxplayer201092's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you can get the right fitting with these shafts (Project X's), they'll change your game for sure. I've always played DG S300's, DG X100's and Rifle 6.0 and 6.5's. I got fitted for these shafts by more than one person, and I actually was better off with the 5.5 flex beleive it or not...And you cannot base what you read from other people on your purchase of these shafts or any others. Everybodys swing is different, get fitted, and try as many shafts as you can. Switching to these shafts I actually hit the ball lower and flatter, but have gained spin......Odd I know... -
He's still in it, but as much as I'd like to see him win it for the history books, I don't think he will. Perry stays strong once he gets at the top, Campbell will fall back 6 shots, Phil will choke today, then go low Sunday (or vice versa) and finish 2 back, Furyk will probably finish 3rd, Sergio has an outside chance, but has to keep the putting strong, oh, and watch out for Vijay and Padraig, last I checked, Padraig was pretty angered about the 1 stroke penalty from the wind on the green, and Vijay is Vijay. I'll still pull for Tiger, but we shall see....It's shaping up to be a good one though, finally....Last year and the year before kind of blew...

Black golfers question whether Tiger should do more for his race?
Batmanrb89 replied to flap's topic in Tour Talk
Here's the truth, and I'll leave it at that... Earl, a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, was of mixed African American (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent) and Native American (25 percent) ancestry. Kultida (née Punsawad), originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent), and Dutch (25 percent) ancestry. This makes Woods himself one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Thai, one-quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch. [11] He refers to his ethnic make-up as “Cablinasian” (a portmanteau he coined from Caucasian, Black, (American) Indian, and Asian). So where in here does it say that he's 100 % African American, I have nothing against anybody, but c'mon already. He's the first Black Golfer to do all of these things???? Why isn't he the first Asian Golfer to do all of these things???? Let these guys play golf and compete already, enough with the "Build up" to every tournament Tiger and Phil enters. They don't need "Hype", if they did, Don King would be a Golf Promoter. Side note: I can personally say this because I have met Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, they are too very pleasant people to be around, and aren't even close to the public persona that they have been tagged with. -
I like this ball alot, not very durable if you're an attacker, but I got tremendous amounts of spin on the ball. The first course I played on with it was TPC Louisiana and I thought it actually spun too much. (Can't believe I said that). If you're not worried about distance, I'd say go for it, the new pro V1 is just as good as the old one, it all comes down to preference and placebo effect

Project X or other flighted shafts vs Dynamic Golds
Batmanrb89 replied to tim31x's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am currently using the project x shaft in all of my irons. I'm confident in saying that I will not switch back to dynamic golds or flighted rifles unless the usga magically bans project x shafts. I love them. here is a quick breakdown of the s300's, rifles, flighted rifles, and project x's. TT Dynamic Gold S300 - mid to low flight, stiffer in the shorter irons, but constant weight through-out Precision Rifle 6.5 - High flight, consistant flex throughout set, harsh on mis-hits Precision Flighted Rifle 6.0 - high flight in long irons, low flight in short irons, not meant for all club heads.example, would not recomend putting thme into clubs that are designed to help your game AKA game improvement irons because they generally are alrady designed for high flight long irons and mid to low flight short irons. Precision Project X 5.5 - Consistant flight troughout set, launch high but not balloon, flattens out, zero distance loss, if any some gained. Oddly, these shafts apparently are to reduce spin on your shots, but I spin the hell out of them, but I can control it, which is nice. -
TaylorMade Tour Preferred irons
Batmanrb89 replied to RichF's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I own these irons with Project X shafts. I love them. This is not me saying they are the best irons out there; this is me saying that for me, they are the best irons out there. Appearance from address, and feel, I'd put them at the top of the class with any forged Iron from Mizuno. This is just an opinion; I'm not looking to start a controversy with people who think they are ugly. -
Tiger.....20 majors, 100 wins, nice round numbers....will he do it? And if he does, will anybody catch him in this lifetime? I was having this discuccion with some work buddies and it was actually a very amusing topic to discuss. Please share your comments and thoughts on this topic.

Diamana Whiteboard Driver Shaft questions
Batmanrb89 replied to Batmanrb89's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would like to hit the ball lower. Last time I had my swing looked at on a computer the launch angel was around 14 degrees and th swing speed i beleive averaged from 105 to 120 depending on if i swung smoothly or ripped at it. I've heard that this is the shaft to help keep the ball down will little spin and its good for guys who like to go after it everynow and then. Basically i'd like to know who has hit the shafts and what flexes and weights were they. -
Diamana Whiteboard Driver Shaft questions
Batmanrb89 posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm currently using the stock Diamana White that Taylormae provides in the Tour Burner TP. I'm thinking about reshafting it with the real Diamana Whiteboard shaft. After doing a lot of reading, it seems like its the shaft that fits what I'm looking for. My question is what version.....the 63, 73 or 83??? Who has expreience with these shafts??? Please advise....I don't like a club that feels like a sledge hammer, but I also don't like a club that feels like I'm holding a wiffle bat. I'm torn between the 63 X or the 73 S...... -
Thanks for the assistance guys. My new irons came in today. got the Tour Preferreds with project x 5.5's. They're sweet!!!! Only problem, I don't know if it's the head or the shaft I love more.

I'm interested in getting project X shafts in my new set of irons. I'm ordering them on Monday. I played r7 TP's with S300's, my current set is another set of r7 TP's with flighted rifle 6.0's. I'm ordering the new Tour Preferred's from Taylormade. When my swing is on key I have a very penetrating ball flight. I wouldn't say low, but definatley penetrating. If my swing is a little off generally I hit higher. My problem here is: many people have told me that the project x promotes a low ball flight, and many people have told me it promotes a high ball flight. To my knowledge its a high launching shaft, but has a flattening out effect. I've had guys tell me that tour pros like the shaft because they hit the ball so high that they use the project x to flatten it out and keep it down a little better, others have told me that they use it because they want to hit it even higher....so I'm a little confused. Please advise. I've hit all of the shafts into simulators and they all feel great, but I just dont trust simulators with the flights....I'm limited on time so I can't really find a driving range that has a bunch of demos to try. and it's pretty cold out. But I don't want to miss this opportunity to order them because I'm getting a dam good price on them...

2 New TaylorMade Drivers!!
Batmanrb89 replied to Puttin4Bird's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Anyone whos says that the r7 is not an attractive looking club at setup, should probably stop touching themselves, the urban legend is coming true.....I've played the r7 limited, the burner 09, and the tour burner tp. All 3 with different shafts. Overall, the burner 09 would be a good club in a TP version without the ping rapture graphics, which essentially would make it last years Tour burner Tp. The r7 limited sets up like a taylormade but plays and feels like a Titleist to me. i don't seem to get as much distance out of it though as the others. Over all, in the past few years Taylormade best 2 drivers IMO are the superquad TP with the UST V2 shaft, and the Tour Burner TP with the Diamana Whiteboard shaft. Getting slightly off topic, I have to say, of all the fairway woods I've ever played, the Taylormade Burner Tour Launch with a UST V2 shaft is the best I have ever played, with the exception of the original big bertha steelheads... -
Take this message for what it's worth.....I've played the original r7 TP, the Superquad TP, the Tour Burner TP, and the r7 Limited. I never tried the 07 Burner Series because I just couldn't get used to the looks of the head. But alot of guys that work in shops I know still say that the 07 Burner TP is the furthest hitting driver from Taylormade ever made. However, of those drivers I have played with, I can say that the Tour Burner TP is the one that impresses me the most. I've hit the Tour Burner TP with the Diamana White Board and Fujikure Rombax. The Rombax is a better shaft for somebody who has a very fluid, smooth back and forth swing. The diamana is more for somebody who likes to go at the ball. I played the r7 Superquad TP with an aldila nv green 65S and a UST Pro Force V2 65S. Both of those shafts were great combinations with that head. The original r7 quad TP I don't need to go into because I think everybody knows that driver started it all for the innovation of the drivers these days with the adjustable weights. The r7 Limited is a beautiful looking club, and has a very responsive feel to it. If your looking for consistency and your not concerned about distance then the r7 Limited is for you, if your looking for distance, and you have a accurate swing to begin with, then i'd recommend the Tour burner TP. I havent tried the Burner 09 yet because I just thinks it's hideous.

As much as I love pureing a nice tee shot with my driver, I'd have to say a pure iron shot that feels like a marshmellow (especially a long iron) and goes exactly where you wanted it, like a foot from the hole.

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
Batmanrb89 replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yea I have to say I agree with this post for the most part. There is a difference between being able to hit a drive 300 yards, and averageing 300 yards.....In a solid round of golf, my tee shots range from 265 yards to 315 yards. Never will I say I average 300 yards with my driver. I'll say every now and then i'll catch one out there. I hate when I'm at the local shop listening to know it alls talk about how they were "just using that club in your hands last week'' and was smacking it 320 yards. Bubba watson averages 315 yards......c'mon people. Out of 14 holes that a driver would be used, do you average the 2 duck hooks you had that went 186 yards left, and the 3 blocked tee shots you put into the next fairway that went 230 yards??? You'd average 245 yards.....now, i don't mean to offend anybody on this post as this is a rant obviously, but when somebody tells be their a long ball player, I ask them how they are from 150 yards and in......usually the topic changes at that point....Now I feel better, thanks!!! haha -
Wedges, match to iron set or not?
Batmanrb89 replied to Puttin4Bird's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I always had more luck with getting a gap wedge that matches the set of irons I have but other than that I've always gone with a wedge that I felt peroformed the best for what I was looking for, but the ke ingrediant I found was to match the shaft to your irons. When i first got the set of irons i'm playing now i had rifles flighted's in them, and an s300 in my sand and lob wedge. I ordered new ones with the flighted rifles and it was a world of a difference, so much happier -
Project X or Flighted Rifle??
Batmanrb89 replied to Batmanrb89's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Most of it is from in conversation with tour guys I know, but I know I've read it as well, I'll look around and let you know where my documents are. Your right as well with them weakening lofts, It just depends on who it is, what clubs they use, and what their swing is like really, i think we all know Tiger is in a bit of a league of his own. More importantly, do you have any input on the topic of this post? -
Project X or Flighted Rifle??
Batmanrb89 replied to Batmanrb89's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yea from what a pro I know told me, the reason alot of the pros use the Project x is because they hit the ball so high to begin with that the flattening effect on the ball from the x's help them. Another somewhat secret as to why so many pro's hit the ball so much further is because most of there irons arent the stock loft angle, most of them have all of there clubs 2 degrees stronger than standard, then with the help of the right shaft, they can hit a 3 iron 250 yards unlike most of us, that and the fact they they hit hundreds of balls a day haha, but anyways. Now my dilemma is, I either want to get the Smoke TP's with the Flighted Rifles, or the Tour Preffered cavity's that replaced my current r7 TP irons, with the project x's. My theory is that if I get into that funk of not being able to get good contact with the long irons from the MB TP Smokes, I can replace them with my r7 TP's with the flighted's to mix and make things easier. Or if I get the Project x's in either of them, at least I have 2 sets of irons with different shaft properties. I've heard that if you don't really hit the ball high, the project x is not for you, especially if you play on hard greens, because you won't be able to stop the ball. So we shall see, let me know your thoughts... -
Taylormade drivers - Any input would be appreciated
Batmanrb89 replied to Batmanrb89's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Alright so I went with the Tour Burner Tp from earlier this year that everybody on tour is using. I hit all of them. The R7 Limited looks identical to the tour Burner Tp, except for the weights on the bottom. I'm not fond of the new burner driver, plus there are no TP versions available yet for the Limited or the New burner. So I got a seet deal on Tour Burner TP 8.5 degree head, and i'm going to put a UST Proforce V2 in it. So far, i'm pleased with the rombax 75 X though so we'll see...thanks agin for all the input! -
I'm currently playing r7 Tp irons with Flighted Rifle 6.0's, had the same irons with S300's before hand. I'm looking at getting a set of the Rac MB TP Smoke Blades, and I'm thinking about ordering them with the project X. When my swing is off I tend to flip the rist and hit the ball high with almost no divot (like a sweep swing), when my swing is on, I hit more down and through the ball with a nice divot and a more penetrating flight. Now, obviously these things all depend on each persons individual swing, but I'm looking to get some different views on these shafts as well with anybodys experience with them. and if anybody has hit all three shafts and seen/felt a difference. thanks in advance.
