  1. Wow, pretty good feeedback there. Thank you. I am about 99% it's not #1. I think that you are spot on though with #2 and #3. I want to hit it far, so in turn that makes me have a long swing. so I think maybe I should fix that first. So let me ask this. If I spend the time to shorten my swing, a, I going to go through a period of hitting it short until I get in the groove with the new swing and start hitting it normal or even farther again?
  2. So I took a face on video of myself, and I noticed that my head stays very still on my backswing, but the instant my downswing starts, it moves forward about 8 inches or so. From watching "good" swing vids, I know that the head should not move past the line drawn vertically by the front ear until after contact. So, I went to the range and tried to work on this. For me, when I keep my head back, if FEELS to me like I am really leaning back, trying to hit a home run in baseball. Subsequently, I seem to not be able to stay down on the ball either, I and hitting everything thin, or topping them that way. Any advice or specific drills I can work on to help me with this? Should I not be focusing on my head, but something else that is actually the cause of the head movement?
  3. I'm asking these questions to help myself....but the things I have been working on are similar. I noticed in a video of myself I was surprised how my hands were not ahead of the ball much. So the first time I watched the video, I thought I saw the same thing here. Am I wrong? Or should his hands be much farther ahead? In the 5-iron shot I don't feel as though he is swinging down on the ball.
  4. I still want to know how he got them though... EDIT: Those fractures were attributed to his rehab after arthroscopic knee surgery on April 15. That answers that.
  5. Tiger is mentally strong, we all know, but I certainly hope there is no confidence issue when he does come back. By confidence, I mean confidence in the knee, that it is ok and ready to go. A lot of athletes have trouble with that, being so afraid they will hurt it again.
  6. Well that sucks for us as fans, but it was bound to happen eventually. He probably rehabbed so hard he hurt himself even more. I really hope he comes back at 100%, a lot of athletes don't. Granted he is not running and jumping as much so I think he should be ok.
  7. (iacas' response in the Jack vs. Tiger post got me thinking) implemented one event a year in which players had to use old equipment? So every player in the field was using the same equipment? I think it would be great for the fans, but would the the players even want to do it?
  8. So what your saying is that non-TP model have a slightly closed face since the majority of average players are slicers?
  9. For example, with Taylormade drivers, you see the TP, or Tour Model, and it costs a LOT more. Whats different with these? And does every manufacturer have them?
  10. This was a good question. A lot of people are saying they just get it back to the fairway, but how are the pros able to hit quality shots, like from 170 out onto the green to still putt for birdie? Are they just that much stronger, higher swing speed than us normal folks?
  11. Now those stats I think make a very good case.
  12. I don't agree with that at all. What are you going to look at? Scoring Average? Driving distance? Putts? Conditions and technology have changed way too much to look at a stat to tell if two guys 45 years apart in their primes are better than one another. To me all you can look at are wins, consistency, margin of victory of the field, etc. I think we both like Tiger in this argument, so I'm not sure why your busting my balls about this :)
  13. Can someone explain to me the different things to look for in a shaft aside from "stiff" or "regular"? i.e. kick point and torque? Are there others? Also, what swing speed do you need to be at to warrant stiff shafts? And if you swing slow, but have a stiff driver shaft, what negative affects will this have? And vice versa, if you swing fast but have regular flex, what are you missing out on? I know this is a lot of questions, but I figured someone could refer me to an existing post I may have missed while searching, or another site they have looked at before.
  14. Stats don't tell you everything. There are plenty of stats that could make Jack look better.
  15. I bought 100 ProV's off eBay earlier this year, got them for 80 plus shipping. They were AAA quality. They already had peoples marks on them, some had minor scuff or "discolorations". For what it's worth, I have played every single one of them. Unless you are very good, I don't think you could possibly notice the difference.
  16. I used my phone at the driving range first time. Saw some major flaws, legs moving all over. After that I had real lesson with analysis. Seeing yourself is kind of startling the first time, you don't usually look as good as you might think.
  17. I recently went on a golf trip. One of my friends is not good, he has a wicked slice. I was paired with him for a two man scramble, he started telling me about this article. He starts using it on the 10th hole and we used 5 of 7 drives from him on the back, there is something to it for sure. But, like many have said, it's a training aid, if it were truly better in some way, people would already be doing it.
  18. First post, glad to be here. I am not old enough to have seen Jack play in his prime, as many here are not, but I think it's safe to assume Tiger is the best. He treats this differently than anyone before. Someone else will do everything Tiger has done plus a bit more, and they may be better (hard to see how though).
