Learning Carry Distances Through PGA Tour Superstore
3puttssuck replied to 3puttssuck's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Right. The report generated after each session will allow me to create the shot zone, but I'm still curious about my original question. After several months and I've hit potentially hundreds of shots with any given club, do I need to keep the data from each individual shot or can I just average the averages from each session? How far off would the numbers be? -
I just found out that for $150 you can hit balls at your local PGA Superstore, with a launch monitor, and all year long. Not bad. After every session at PGA, you can get a report with all of the regular launch monitor data. I take one club with me each time and I'm trying to really zero in on my carry distances. I know that if you average averages, your data will be incorrect. My question is, how incorrect? Will I get close enough to trust that data, or do I need to keep track of N? Thanks in advance -

Garmin Tempo Feature in a Tournament Round
3puttssuck replied to 3puttssuck's topic in Rules of Golf
Couldn't be more clear. Thanks, boys. -
This question is in regards to tournament play - My Garmin watch has a swing tempo app that emits a pulse to replicate a smooth tempo while hitting balls on the range. Is it legal to turn the swing tempo on during a tournament round, with or without actually addressing the ball? In other words, if your timing feels off, would it be ok to turn the app on to get the rhythm in your head while going from one shot to another?

Best Ball for Mid- to High-Handicapper?

I love the Titleist Velocity. Good ball, cool paint job. -

Thanks, RoberX. I just got the S20 and I haven't had a chance to golf with it yet, but I haven't been that impressed so far. I love how it's set up because it's simple and easy to read which will save time golfing. The problem I'm having is that I don't always get notifications on my watch from my phone. Not a huge deal when golfing, but I figure if that's a feature of the watch, it should work.

Any good? Is it like other golf apps such as Golfshot and GolfLogix? Pros? Cons?

Last year during a tournament, the scorecard of the guy in my group whose scorecard I was responsible for, flew out of the cart (I wasn't driving so I couldn't use the holder on the steering wheel) and into a puddle, ruining the card. That was on the third hole and I was pissed at myself for the rest of the round. This year, for tournaments, I'm going with a scorecard holder and I'm curious to know what, if anything, other than the scorecard and pencil do you keep in the holder? Course info? Swing thoughts? Motivational crap? Something else?

Anybody ever play the RTJ Trail in Alabama? If so, do any courses stand apart from the rest? Thinking of booking a trip for March and I'm wondering what the temperatures will be around then.

I'm playing TPC Sawgrass in December. Thoughts? Tips? I heard rounds there last up to 6 hours. Can't be true, can it?

Thanks Zappy. I'll check it out.

I'm headed to Turnberry next month. Anybody played there and want to give a quick review/advice? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Dave, I'll do that. I was able to find out online that they have caddies at the Gailes Course, so they probably have them at Killermont, too. You are correct that you have to reserve caddies in advance. Have you played either course? Thanks again -

I'm headed to Scotland to play at the Glasgow Golf Club in September. Does anyone know if caddies are available?
-
Thanks to everybody. It looks like I'll do it when it's convenient, until somebody tells me not to (unless I'm in the UK, of course. :))

I'm starting to walk all the time now and here's an etiquette question I've never considered: When using a push cart, is it acceptable to bring it on the tee box?

Love it? Hate it? I'm thinking of picking one up and it's gotten good reviews, but I'd love to hear from people who have hit it. Thanks -

what kind of irons ????? game improvement vs.
3puttssuck replied to esayers's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just got a set of 716 AP1 Titleist irons. I haven't had them on the course yet, but I will next month when I go to Miami. During my fitting and later on a simulator they feel great and seem to have added at least 10 yds to my irons (on a simulator, though, so you never know). Has anyone else tried them? By the way, I see a lot of Ping G30 fans out there and I almost bought a set of those but the shaft that was recommended was a $400 upcharge and it's the stock shaft on my Titleists.- 33 replies
