  1. guess we will see for sure on thursday.
  2. well hank haney said it before I did. he may know a thing or two about tiger.
  3. I think Tiger believes that the warm embrace from the players, fans, and media at Augusta are somehow going to make up for the shortcomings of the past several months. They won't. He has the yips. You don't get over the yips.
  4. I think Abe Lincoln had the best quote for today... You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. I actually hate today...I'll be glad when it's over.
  5. http://www.masters.com/news Augusta National has had it! The venerable home of the Masters Invitational is taking definitive steps to combat ever longer driving distances by touring professionals out of fear they will render the golf course obsolete. In response, the club has instituted a full set of new tees for the upcoming event, to be held April 9-12. Masters Tournament Chairman William Porter ‘Billy’ Payne explained, “Augusta National will be changed to a par 54, with an average hole length of 160 yards.” Addressing a question about souped-up drivers, Payne was overheard to say, “Let em’ hit the dang things! A lot of good it’ll do em’ now!” Augusta National will also treat the greens with actual bikini wax, and they are expected to measure 22 on the stimpmeter. In a related story, CBS has announced that Gary McCord will be replacing Jim Nantz as lead commentator for this year’s tournament.
  6. i guess i tend to forget that furyk is pushing 45. in comparison, arnie won his last tournament at 43. but having been as close to victory as many times as he has lately, wouldn't the expectation reasonably be, that he could've/should've won at least a couple that he didn't, regardless of age? we tend to want more from our better players, be it fairly or unfairly.
  7. You wouldn't think of Furyk as simply a human ATM. He does have a major under his belt. But in my opinion, winning the Fed Ex Cup was the worst thing to happen to him. He hasn't won since. I couldn't imagine once you played for and won $10 million, everything else would seem like a letdown. But it hasn't seemed to bother Brandt Snedeker though. But it seems Snedeker is the exception, rather than the rule. The commerical with Furyk and his wife keeps playing through my head. She mentions setting up a foundation in 2010, ironically enough, the same year he won the Cup, and probably a direct result of winning the Cup. I would assume he would have had to take on more responsibilites having the foundation, not knowing if it has affected his play, but it has seemed to affect him closing the deal.
  8. Question to the board: Do you think that Butch Harmon is the key to Jimmy Walker's success over the last two years, or could've Walker been just as successful without him? Even with his five wins, there are still mountains to climb: majors, WGCs, FedEx Cup. Yet Walker is considered as one of the best in the world right now. I'm thinking of another Harmon disciple, Nick Watney, who didn't quite get to the elite level and has since changed coaches. Is there pressure to perform under Harmon?
  9. worster week ever for me. six missed cuts, but it seems at least i'm not alone this time. sometimes it seems like if the pros don't get perfect conditions, they struggle mightily, whether on purpose i think sometimes they just don't like playing in crappy weather, and say the heck with it (except rory of course lol).
  10. worst week ever for me. five missed cuts, and the remaining players are nowhere near the lead, although day may have an outside shot. the thing about this yahoo format is, you can't gain ground easily, but you can lose ground real quick.
  11. I saw the photo. I'm no expert at determining the nature of wounds by no means. It does look like a pretty good scrape on the forehead like he was dragged or something, but I don't know for sure. But based on the golf channel article and police reaction, it seems to fall somewhere between allenby's recollection and what really happened.
  12. I'm like, Troy Polamalu !?! Being a Steeler fan, I had to go Google his involvement with this, or thinking he was involved in a separate incident, but all that showed up was the rumors of his imminent release and/or retirement. And then, it dawned on me, you're referring to the homeless guy!!
  13. not to go all conspiracy theory/speculation here, but it does seem more plausible that allenby may have come out of the bar very drunk, fell down, out came his wallet, in the darkness couldn't find it, or didn't even realize it was gone, and somebody picked it up and had a field day with the credit cards. in allenby's embarassment, he concocted his story of the beating/kidnapping.
  14. Well I didn't even have him on my team this week. And he let two other guys in that were also not on my team, that got bonus points.
  15. I had the same problem. Its taken me four years of this to learn to 'set it and forget it'...take your best players, the players you think are going to win, and don't do anything with them at least until after the second round. For sure if they miss the cut, take them out of there. And if you have any players on the bench after the second round that are sniffing at the lead, it might be time to put them in. Then again, you might want to wait until the fourth round, especially if they just came off a great round. I know how tempting it is to yank a player after a bad round, but nine times out of ten, they end up coming back with a good round. Once you start the cycle of benching players having bad rounds, you'll end up on the wrong side of things the entire tournament.
  16. i'm in...was a member last year and a legitimate threat (lol)...hope to be the same or better this year. good luck to all.
  17. well, its over for another year. thanks gogolfing for setting this up. its only fitting that you won the whole thing, maybe one of these years i'll learn to leave well enough alone, set my best players, and forget them. call me the phil mickleson of fantasy golf i guess. but being in the 93rd percentile, isn't that half bad, my best showing in the four years i've played it. heck, two years ago i got so frustrated with it i quit 2/3 of the way through. not sure if i'm going to do it again this year, seems like to be real successful you have to follow the herd and i've never been much to follow the herd. but we'll see.
  18. well, coming down the home stretch here... i'll have to admit, i've been following a 50-person league i joined up for a little more closely, being that it is extremely competitive, but i've managed to do very well here, much better than i've thought i'd do overall. used up all my rory picks which may be the key to having a good finish. pw, i see you still have picks left for him. i guess we'll see how well he does...
  19. well at least you picked rose, i think i'm about the only one in the whole yahoo fantasy golf universe that didn't.
  20. looks like someone at yahoo fell asleep at the wheel...here it is the third round, and second round points haven't been tallied yet.
  21. are you mouzers? i saw that and said 'ouch'. for any tournament in the eastern time zone that is not an invitational, that is the usual starting time, so they are assured to get everyone through the round. i take it you're not in the eastern time zone? i generally set my lineup when the tee times come out, which is generally tuesday of tournament week, so i don't have to worry about missing the deadline. things generally don't change a whole lot between tuesday and thursday, the occasional WD because of injury or the like, but its much easier to make a change versus trying to set the whole lineup.
  22. well it looks like this hasn't been updated in a while, how are we doing? i say after probably my best three weeks ever, i've had probably my two worst weeks ever, and with a major coming up, it doesn't look very promising this week either. i usually get slaughtered in majors, save the masters. i'll probably keep it pretty close to the vest, no sleepers or hunches, those seem to get me in trouble.
  23. finished uploading the rest of the pro-am videos from yesterday....enjoy!
  24. no. just yesterday and today i'm afraid.
  25. i was at the pro-am today, and shot video of all the participants, except jb holmes, whose caddy got in the way of my vantage point. unfortunately i am on a slower connection right now, so the uploads are taking longer, but here's what i have so far...
