  1. It's kind of neat to have, arguably, the best rivalry in sports come from Big Ten college football. I am a Minnesota guy, afterall. And, even though the Gophers are irrelevent, we're still in the same conference! With that all said, I cannot and will not vote for either of these teams. I dislike each equally. BUT, I am 98% sure that the Minnesota/Wisconsin rivalry is older than the Michigan/Ohio St. rivalry. Wisconsin would be, far and away, the most hated team from a Minnesota fan's perspective.
  2. Side note and totally off track here; Why are big(ger) boobs considered more beautiful or better overall? I'll never understand it. To me, too big of boobs are quite unattractive.
  3. I had a very "tricky" instance once dealing w/ this very thing. I was on a public course w/ a golfing buddy and hit my drive into the right rough that also serves as the rough for another hole right beside the hole we were on. The rough is about 10 yards wide and it's got a tree about every 20 yards seperating the two hole's. So, if one were to hit it in the rough, it's not that hard to find. My partner and I drive up to the area where my ball came down in. It's down a slight hill so we couldn't actually see the ball come down from the tee box. Now, we see three girls (and all strikingly good looking) hitting from the adjourning hole's fairway. They all looked at us like they were expecting us. I proceeded to make a little small talk. I then asked if they saw a golf ball land in the general area of where they were at. "No, no, no". Now, I'm pretty good w/ people and being able to tell things about them. I knew they picked my ball up and they were now lying to me. Now, I'm thinking I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but now they've put me in the position to where I basically have to call them liars to attempt to get my ball back. These girls were just out having a good time. I could tell they weren't regular golfers. One was obviously intoxicated and the other two probably weren't too far behind her. So, within 2 minutes of meeting them, I knew that they probably came up to my ball, didn't think someone might have just hit it from the adjourning hole's tee box, saw a pretty, free white golf ball that they could use, picked it up, and that was that. Realizing that they aren't regular golfers and probably don't know basic etiquette, my goal was to give them another chance to give me my ball back without making a fuss or making them defensive about it. I simply said, "Ladies, I assure you it's not a big deal if you picked my ball up, but I would like it back." And with that, I get more, "No, really, we never picked anything up." So, I then accepted that I wasn't going to get my ball back and I knew I had NOTHING to gain by making a big deal out of it. So, w/ some more small talk, I wished them well and both our groups went our seperate ways. What was I to do? Accusing good looking girls of lying isn't high on the list of things I like to do while out golfing. Sometimes, you're just at the mercy of other folks on the course.
  4. Okay. This might sound odd and crazy coming from a guy w/ the username, nike_golf, but I've become a TaylorMade DRIVER believer. I just recently dropped my Machspeed driver for a Superfast. (I just have to cover it up in my bag w/ a non TaylorMade headcover. Hey, I'm like that)
  5. The very bottom right hole. As I don't trust putter clips w/ my Scoty. The bottom three slots are for my two wedges and putter. As I said before, I wish it had a seperate putter slot, but I get by just fine w/ how I have it set up now.
  6. Well, just by the fact that more can go wrong (ball fades/draws too much, etc) over a larger distance, I will agree w/ that statement. However, I don't believe in approaching a long Par 3 thinking that way. "Oh, I better lay up so I can have an easy pitch. Too much can go wrong hitting it 200+ yards." - That's just not me. I don't know. Like I said, I'm just relaying what's going on in my head when I come to a tough par 3. I'm certainly not saying I'm right and everyone else who disagrees w/ me is wrong. Sorry if I came across that way.
  7. You still have to go for it, IMO. I would also rather shoot a wedge than a fairway wood, but what I was comparing and saying is, is that ANYTHING can go wrong on any shot. As for playing harder courses. I do and have. Yes, I've played 200+ yard par 3's. Ya know what I do? Get out the 3 hybrid and stripe it down there! Again, I was saying anything can go wrong on any shot. I wasn't simply comparing yardage differences. You can mis hit a hybrid on a long Par 3 just as easily as you can mis hit a wedge from 120 out on a Par 4. That's the thing about golf. Every shot is different and has the potential to be really good, just ok, or bad. I will always be w/ the mindset that you have to go for pretty much ALL par 3 greens JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME. Can weather conditions change that line of thinking? Absolutely.
  8. I've honestly never even THOUGHT of laying up on a par 3. Maybe it's the young blood in me, but this "strategy" makes NO sense to me. Par 3's are designed for you to be on in one. And since 99% of us aren't playing U.S. Open courses, why are we bringing up ridiculous Par 3's where laying up MIGHT make sense? (Granted, yes, some of you do play some ridiculous Par 3's, but still, MOST of us aren't) And hey, anything bad can happen on a lot of shots. What's the difference in going for the green on a par three versus shooting a wedge into a green from 120 out w/ a guarded green on a par 4 or 5? If you lay up, who's to say you make a decent second shot to save par, or even bogey? I can't believe some would play a Par 3 for a bogey and be fine and/or happy w/ it. I salivate when coming up onto Par 3's. A 160 yard Par 3 w/ a heavily guarded green is just fine w/ me. I, for one, love holes such as those. Bring it on!
  9. I hope this wasn't over slow play . Any horror stories out there similar to this one? I have a slightly humerous/slightly violent story. I was on a small 9 hole course in a small Iowa town when I was fresh to the game of golf. It's where one goes to be as bad as they want to be, because, well, everyone else is just as bad anyway. Anyway, my golfing partner (who was also bad and new to the game) dropped me off near number 9's green where I went to hit my short approach shot. Apparently, my partner then got a little too close to the green w/ the cart and the owner of the course came strolling over, huffing and puffing. Before I knew what was really happening, I look over and the owner is literally chest bumping my partner. I was so stunned to be seeing this that I just kind of froze. I didn't know whether to laugh or get angry. But, knowing my golfing partner doesn't have the best "people skills" (and apparently, the owner wasn't any better), I quickly run over there to break it up. I tell my partner to go park the cart in the cart shed while I stayed and smoothed things over w/ the owner the best I could. My partner, after the shock of what happened wore off a little on him, wanted to go press assault charges on the owner. He was steamed. Well, I had to talk him out of that. What good comes out of it anyway? The whole thing was just kind of surreal. Needless to say, we never went been back.
  10. I just wanted to say this thread made me proud to be a member of this golfing community. It also made my day.
  11. Mine is black and yellow. I think it's sharp as hell. Plus, it matches my clubs quite well. It is true that the pockets are slightly different in size, but I definitely wouldn't say that's a bad thing. They obviously designed it that way for a reason. The top pocket is the "valuables" pocket. The lining in the pocket is waterproof.
  12. I do wish it had a seperate putter slot. But, that would honestly be my only minor complaint.
  13. Actually, I think we're on the same page. (Except for the use of the 60*) I'm in COMPLETE agreement that MOST players should have ONE wedge to where they use most often from, let's say, 100 yards and in. I agree that using ONE wedge for MOST shots inside of 100 yards, you then get used to it and know what it can do for you. You know what a three quarter swing will get you, or a half a swing, etc. However, you almost contradict that point by using a 60* for MOST shots inside of 80 yards. Why wouldn't you choose to use an easier hitting wedge? Take my 52*. I use that for MOST of my shots inside of 110 yards. I know what I can do with it, and w/ only 8* of bounce on it, it works great from fairways and even most roughs. If I get into some deep stuff or a soft sand bunker, then I'll use my 56* w/ 14* of bounce. I agree w/ the concept of having ONE wedge to get really good at and use MOST often, but I disagree that that ONE wedge should be a 60*. It's simply unnecessary for MOST of us and too difficult to hit consistently. And when I say too difficult, I'm talking about the mid teen HCP'ers and up. I'm talking about the weekend warriors who don't have the time to "master" a 60*.
  14. I don't how you guys can do these things. Don't you realize you might be hitting the wrong club just by looking at it at address? For instance, a 6 iron is noticably LONGER and LESS LOFTED than a 9. You can basically say the same about a 56* and a 60*.
  15. Just got one of these bad boys from Scheels the other day. $30 for a Power Balance bracelet. From what I've seen on the internet about the Power Balance, there just MIGHT be something to these things. My first and only round w/ it I didn't shoot any better, however. But I've been having a lingering right hamstring issue in my right leg that seems to have cleared up a bit since wearing it. So, I guess I can't say if they "work" for sure or not? Whatever. I'm a bracelet fan anyway and these things look pretty cool. Oh, and mine is pink in color. Just because I'm like that...............
  16. Oh, ok. Now I get it. (I was kidding, bud)
  17. In a casual round w/ my cousin , no. However, a good round by being rude to your playing partners. It's only to do it, right?
  18. I'm of the mindset that MOST amateur golfers SHOULDN'T even carry a 60*. The risk and difficulty of hitting a 60* isn't worth the potential rewards, IMO. Two years ago, after another bad round w/ my 60*, I took my 60* and chucked it into a river that borders the course that I was on. Was it a dumb thing to do? Of course it was, but it made me feel better damnit! I really believe that I can do just as much w/ my 56* as I could do w/ my 60*. And the 56* isn't as hard to hit. I mean, we're not on tour. We're not playing out of a lot of extreme roughs to flop it 7 yards to holes tucked into the back of greens that the pros have to deal with. If you do play a lot of courses like that, then a 60* would make sense. But MOST of us don't play tour caliber courses where one is actually needed.
  19. Wait. I thought the ball doesn't matter.
  20. That's the spirit. I was just wondering what I was going to do w/ all my other balls. I was just going to hit them into the bean field that borders my acreage, but maybe I'll donate mine too.
  21. Yeah, and he was saying those were better balls than the ProV1x, not the NXT Tour. So, I wasn't the only one who thought so.
  22. I will definitely agree w/ that. And I will definitely agree w/ this.
