  1. No retractable dome? Erc thats a bit harsh what sort of course is he managing? Offer to double your membership maybe that will help? ;p so coming back to the topic - the only thing I hate about golf is not having the time....
  2. Congrats! May there be many more 2 digit rounds to come :D
  3. Just quickly, used to play lots in the UK, >11 years ago. Been in Australia since and thought I should get back into it :) So I bought some cheapie new irons (adams tight lies) thought they would be better than my 1980s Lynx Parallax. They arrived Tuesday - shiny and smooth, very shiny and smooth :) So off I go today and shoot a 52 (just played front 9 - 36). Reflrcting upon my round and the penalties, there is no surprise that 90% of my shots were to the right - not horribly right, but you know just drifting out there with the drives and just in the same place really with most of my approaches and par 3s. Now I know I have a swing issue with 'overswinging' and am cognizant of this and try to reduce same (it's a throwback to when Daly won 'The Open' and I thought that was the way to go). I unfortunately can almost point the club at my left foot on the backswing lol - it doesn't help... So any quick simple ideas without lots of practice to prevent this? I also hit off the toe a fair bit today :/ Thanks in advance Welshy PS How u get the Sigs done, or should I read the FAQs?
  4. would trek back to the tee and re shoot, if it was a social round with friends and beers (that hasn't happened for years) we used to just drop close to where it went in as the cards weren't being handed in
  5. like the topic :) Watching it predominantly and just being amazed at how good those guys are! But when playing I love pulling off those shots that are 1 in a million (well for me anyway). Sinking that 50 ft putt, the approach to 3 ft, etc etc, it's all relative u know what I mean? Your first Birdie, first eagle, first time you hit that shot over the water carry that you haven't done before. And then there is the ambience - some of the young ones may not understand (I never did) - but just appreciating the beauty of being outside in the wonderful surroundings of a well kept course... Best of all?.. coming home to my wife, and for a change having the chance tell her about my day! Cheers Welshy
  6. well who knows really? From a self preservation perspective then yes we all should probably not go out in the sun in less than a full UV protection diving suit (snorkel optional) if you want to reduce the chance of melanomas to the max, and lets be honest, 4 hours on the golf course with a lttle hat, short sleeves and your shins out ain't gunna help our chances (live in Oz with apparently the highest incidence of skin cancers) to avoid skin cancer, then again it won't promote other similarly ending conditions such as... well you know what i mean. As for me, yes I own a big cowboy style ala greg norman 80s hat, and yes it stays in our wardrobe and never makes it to the golf course :)
  7. Stats wise it's Jack atm - if Tiger's knee lasts then he will be :)
  8. The same as the majority of Canberrans - Public Servant.
  9. Hi All, First post, working my way out of the newbie group. Home course is at http://www.gungahlinlakes.com.au/ Cheers Welshy
