  1. Seeing improvement during the fittings seems to be a waste of time as your hitting off a mat in perfect conditions. Your also looking at data provided by a ball that is going into a net so you can't see the full ball flight. In one of the fittings I was told my irons were perfect for me and was fit into a driver I used for a couple of weeks until I came to the conclusion my gamer was better. As for swing issues I'm a poster boy for them....... That's my experience. I hope everyone else has a great experience.
  2. Not to be a downer but I've been fit three different times and the results have been underwhelming. I gained no extra distance or accuracy. On one fitting I was recommended to try different shafts. When I reshafted my irons I was almost a full club shorter with no improvement in accuracy. I play around 150 rounds a year and currently have a 8.1 index. I have had several friends also get fitted and I can honestly say way less than 50% have seen any gains in their game. My fittings were by Club Champion and 2 top 100 fitters in my area. I'm not a big fan of fittings.
  3. Got on Golfworks website and answered my own question. 2 to 2.5" max
  4. A friend of mine cut down his driver 2.5". I wanted to try it out but I'd need to lengthen it. How long can you go with a graphite plug if you epoxy it in? I've heard 1" is the max but the plug is 3" long. Any shaft experts out there? Thanks
  5. So far this year I've posted 115 rounds. Would have been more but we had a bad winter in Md. I'm a general contractor partly retired so when I'm not working I'm playing. I'm lucky to have a lifetime membership at my club so it costs me nothing to play with or without a cart. Funny even though I play a lot my handicap has stayed between 5 and 7 for the last four years.
  6. I was playing a round a couple of weeks ago and lost my ball but while looking I found a Bridgestone Treosoft. On the next tee which is a really difficult dogleg right par four with a creek on the left I hit the Bridgestone and killed it around the corner. Upon going around the corner the ball was twenty yards further than any Pov1x I had ever hit this year. I found the balls are only sold at Dick's at $30.00 for two dozen as they are discontinued. A hell of a deal and I can't tell the difference between them and my prov1x's. I have switched back and forth for the past several weeks and use both. Whatever comes out of the bag first. As a 24 handicap you don't need anything more.
  7. Here's an interesting explanation.
  8. So I read the golf digest article and decided to give it a try. First let me say I have tried maybe every swing put forth including natural golf , 4 magic moves, rotary, and single plane to name a few. I'm currently a 8 handicap and 64 yr old. In my first try with the A swing I was impressed and shot a nice 78 but I can't claim to be doing it right. I downloaded the book and started reading and studying things better and was rewarded with an 86 the next time out. Not one to give up my next two rounds were 77 and 78. In those rounds I hit some awfully impressive straight shots. I'm finding some of the keys are getting the wrist break going early and keeping the right arm connected to the body. Its uncomfortable for me but when done correctly the ball flys off the club. I am getting my same to maybe a little more distance with somewhat less effort. I will continue working and let you know how it goes. It is difficult during the course of the round to keep track of what to do. This is in no way a simple swing but at this time i'm impressed enough to keep up with it.
  9. You know the feedback has been great. In the end If I want to go with a graphite shaft I'm going to sell these clubs and buy a newer set. If I put graphite shafts on these clubs I will make them worthless.
  10. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.
  11. I have a nice set of Srixon I701-tour irons. They have regular steel shafts and I'm thinking I'd like to get a set of lightweight graphite shafts to upgrade the clubs without having to buy a new set. The shaft tip is .355. Any imput? Thanks
  12. Yes I'm looking at the ball but i'm not focused on the ball. If I focus directly on the back of the ball solely I find I try to hit the ball instead of swing they the ball. Maybe it's just me......
  13. When I'm playing I find if I stare at the ball I become "ball bound". During my full swing, chipping and putting I address the ball then keep looking down just having the ball in my peripheral vision and swing focusing on my swing mechanics. I find this lets me swing freely and smoothly because I don't try to kill the ball. I asked my instructor about it and he said he does the same thing. I rarely hit fat or thin shots. What do you do?

    WTF

I don't keep track of stats but I did just receive lowest score wins. I've just started the book but its interesting to look at the value of certain shots. I hope to finish the book this week. Seems to have some great insight. Thanks for the imput.

    WTF

Three weeks ago I had thirteen rounds at 78 or lower. Fast forward to today and I haven't broken 80 in my last five rounds. I was a 4.5 but now a 6.0. Why does the game I love so much turn on me so fast!!! The only good thing about it is the member member is coming up in October so maybe I bottom out an rise up again from the ashes!! Is it just me or does our passion sometimes turn to puke.
  17. Shot 73 today 3bogies2birdies. Putted looking at the hole and 1putted nine times. 3 were gimmes but tied my best round of the year. Crofton country club in Maryland blue tees
  18. We had this issue at our club. Their are a couple of groups that play fairly loud music while playing. We asked our pro about it and he looked up in the rules of golf and apparently you are not allowed to have an outside agent that may help with your tempo or swing. His opinion was that music was not allowed. Thats why you never see a pro wearing earbuds at a tournament. I'm sure one of you can locate the exact rule.
  19. I don't mind playing with a less skilled player as long as he or she plays fast. Pick up the ball after your past triple bogey and not on the green and don't act like your surprised you hit a bad shot. We all know how it was when we started and were just glad were not their. Good luck!!!
  20. I've made 2 hole in ones. On May 9 three years ago playing the 16th at Crofton Country club hit my drive down the center and smoked a 4 wood to a front pin and watched it go in. The funny thing was we were playing a stabelford and didn't know how to give it a point value as an eagle was the most anyone had ever gotten and that was extremely rare. I'll take the double eagle over the ace any day.
  21. I can't believe this post has somewhat died. As stated before I have tried this on and off for maybe five years. I finally realized i always get lost and go back to the Dante moves and do well. So I downloaded the book and made a commitment to try to learn something every time I go to the range that I ignored the first time around and go with it. The first thing I realized was that I was not holding my grip tight enough, I thought I needed to have my wrists "loose" but having them tight gave me great power. The second thing which we all knew anyway was you need to let the body lead the club. If you don't you duck hook everything. A month ago I wondered if I'd ever break 80 again. My last eight rounds have been between 74 and 79. Granted I was a 7.4 to begin the year but I'm a 5.4 now and hitting my clubs a FULL shot longer. WAKE UP !!! LETS HAVE SOME IMPUT!!
  22. I couldn't agree more. When you consider all the methods being taught that involve so much movement and timing you would think someone would be teaching this. When I get in a good rhythm I hit the ball so straight and long but like everyone in golf when my timing is bad I start trying different swings to find one that works. How many times have you been on the range and thought I FINALLY HAVE IT!!! For me many hundreds. All I know is when I go back to Dante and i'm in rhythm its as good as it gets.
  23. I have gone back and fourth with the Dante method. I just find when things look the worst I revert to the method with great results. I've been working on it again in ernest and reading former post from different forums and have picked up some key things that have helped me not only stop hitting it left but getting me the feeling of the "late hit". I'm really hitting it long and straight.
  24. I thought I'd revive this post to see if anyone out their is still following it. I have done it with great success, had some problems with it (hooking everything) but I find I always come back because when I'm playing bad in the middle of the round I give it a try and it always seems to save the day. I think my biggest problem is understanding the second move which is the lateral slide. The lateral slide always seems to cause me to push the ball.
  25. I just got my grips and gun and had a hard time getting the first one on but found if you start the grip and hold it close to the shaft and push as you let the air in it goes on pretty easily.
