  1. Boogielicious will I be seeing you at the event this Sunday? I am helping get the best golfers in the NY area involved, so we can take it to Boston in the Championship!
  2. Jersey guys can absolutely qualify. https://nextgengolf.org/new-york-city-versus-boston/
  3. I'm playing in a City Championship Ryder Cup between New York and Boston next Sunday. I would love for some golfers from NY to join me so we can whoop Boston! https://nextgengolf.org/new-york-city-versus-boston/
  4. I was talking to my old college coach recently and we were reliving memories of the various tournaments we played. He brought up this one shot that I hit, which to this day I still vividly remember. it was a 19 degree rescue club from a downhill lie that needed to hook about 30 yards to bend around the trees (dogleg left) Long story short I hit it to about 10 feet, and am confident I couldn't do it again if i had 100 more balls. I'd love to hear some other tales...
  5. That was the best part of my early days with golf- the constant improvement from round to round. Once you start playing enough, you begin to get the hang of the swing, your putting improves, chipping gets tighter, and the driver starts cooperating more often. Once you get to a certain point the margin for error narrows, so people feel the hit a wall. However, that is where golf truly tests you! and it why I love the sport so much!
  6. The fact that this is even a debate shows why golf needs to change it's image. There has always been the perception that golf is an elitist sport, which worked for a while, but now that participation is declining the image clearly needs to change. Organizations like The First Tee are doing a great job at introducing all demographics to the sport and focusing on the next generation of golfers to come. My biggest fear is that the price of maintaining a course continues to increase, so in order for the industry to stay profitable, the price of each rounds will undoubtedly continue to increase.
  7. For me, having some sort of candy bar is always my go-to snack whilst playing. I hate being too full mid round, but definitely need some energy going into the back9! Snickers or M & M's
  8. Why don't you ever play a full round?
  9. Same goes for me, I only play 2 balls when the course is empty. There is nothing that frustrates me more on the course then when someone plays 2 balls while the group behind them is waiting to hit. That's why etiquette is so important!
  10. Commenting to bump the thread. I'll add a comment to the actual article.
  11. I'm talking to my roommate about how pumped we are for the snow to melt in NY, so we can finally get out to the courses on Long Island. We can't settle a debate, and thought you guys could help... In my mind there is nothing better than kicking back with an ice cold Bud Light, he said beers get you too full where you can't swing and prefers a Vodka Soda instead. Thoughts?
  12. Taking a break from golf to recharge the batteries is very important from time to time. I was lucky to play on my varsity team at college, but after I graduated college I took 3 months off from golf, which turned out to be the best thing I could have done. However, I would argue that the mental break to recover your swing, is equally as important as the physical aspect.
  13. You obviously have to be swinging well, not waste shots around the green, and make those 10 foot par/birdie putts to shoot your best round ever, BUT a lot of it has to do with the mental aspect. I feel that every time I have a good round going with only a few holes left I start thinking about it too much, and stop focusing on taking it one shot at a time! Less thinking, more swinging! My lowest score is a 65 at the Ocean Course in Puerto Rico at the Rio Mar hotel. Love that place ever since :)
  14. I appreciate your feedback. Our app can be used in many different ways... 1) Someone looking to network with others in their industry 2) For specific type of golfers you are looking to play with...age, handicap, game time, game day, tees, the type of game...etc 3) If you want to use it to find someone, like you would a dating app, you can certainly try that as well People these days use social platforms for a myriad of reasons to "meet" someone before they actually meet in person, so I don't see why golf should be any different. You are going to randomly get paired with someone on the course, why not at least give yourself the best chance of finding that ideal golfing buddy?
  15. Thank you very much for your feedback! Keep it coming. 1) I definitely agree with your suggestion to choose multiple criteria when it comes to the 'Type of Game' you are looking for. We will also look into this for other criteria that users can filter. 2) If age is not a factor, simply do not touch that feature, and we will suggest you golfers of all ages.
  16. Golf is more fun to play, football is more fun to watch.....sooooo GOLF!
  17. Coffee, Cold Beer, AND Hot Dog before 7am is very impressive. I like your style!
  18. Just out of curiosity, do you guys always play the same course or do you like to explore new tracks? Discovering new courses to play at has been a priority of mine the last few years, which is why we thought it was crucial to integrate a database of every course in America for golfers to filter based on price, location, and name.
  19. "Truth be told, my son doesn't like playing with others too much, as he gets nervous and sometimes embarrassed" - Every time we hear a story like that it further confirms our mission. Golf has a very steep learning curve, which can be daunting for beginners, but we don't like looking at that curve as a negative. However, we believe the solution is providing a golf environment that puts each golfer in their comfort zone by helping them discover golfers who are at the same point in the learning curve. Wouldn't being able to search for a 'friendly' game with other 'parents with kids' who have around a '25' handicap...solve that problem for your son? Just a thought...
  20. Much appreciated! We have a free driver giveaway contest if you're interested.... take a screenshot of your filled out profile, and post that on Facebook or Instagram with #GolfMatchapp so we can find you.
  21. I always hit my 60 degree wedge from 80 yards and in. Those feel shots are always the hardest, so being able to focus on dialing in 1 club is something I have always practiced, rather than using different clubs.
  22. A couple questions... 1) How do you communicate with those 16 golf buddies? In the past I have always emailed my buddies at work (we all know that can get annoying) or send big text chats (which gets pushed down or forgotten as new texts come in) 2) How often do you play with your children? Have you ever wanted to find another father-son or father-daughter combo to play with? We have a 'Parents with Kids' game option which emphasizes family golf. No need to view those 5 hours as a burden on family time, but rather, make that a bonding experience!
  23. Indeed it is! Right now it is available in the iOS store- Android to come next.
  24. Thank you very much, we sure hope it does! Everyone wishes they had more golfing buddies, which is why we are firm believers in building our your network so that you can find the round you are looking for at the times that are convenient for you. It is fun to mix it up with different golfers from time to time, just like it is fun to play new courses- variety is the spice of life!
  25. This thread has made me realize I need to mix it up much more than I currently do! My last 20 rounds have been played at only 4 courses, and 2 of them were on vacation.
