  2. Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was something like that, but wanted to make sure.
  3. Is it always linear? Does higher launch create the lower spin? or can you have a high launch, high spin scenario and not have the ball go as far?
  4. I think it should be pretty cool for the most part. I think mine would be "Simple Man" Lynard Skynyrd.
  5. I heard on the radio this morning that they are doing entrance or 'walk up" music that the player gets to pick once they are selected. Do you all like this idea? I'm afraid we are going to be hearing a bunch of "i'm the man" by aloe blacc.
  6. I think it is good you get an opportunity to play and establish your progress. My end goal isn't to have the picture perfect swing(all though that would be nice) I want to improve my total game so I can play golf better, i.e. lower scores. I think you have a good plan and are on a good track. I haven't updated my swing thread in a while due to some family obligations. Doesn't mean I'm not working on improving. If I had a week off I would try to play almost everyday also. Keep up the good work!!!
  7. I may be wrong, but didn't the US Amateur and British Amateur also used to be considered majors? I don't believe most people consider these to be major's any more. The definition of a major has changed over time and I believe was created by the media. I don't really care either way, but The Players is one of the best fields in golf and if it had the longer tradition of some of the existing majors it might be consider one already.
  8. I've been to the Phoenix Open a few times. The best days to go if you want to interact is a practice day or wednesday when the have the pro am. It is pretty cool to see the celebrates hack it around. The pros are also more approachable if you want to try and get an autograph or two. Other then that @Golfingdad summed it up pretty week. Have fun!
  9. I'm excited for this week, I hope we get a bunch of good players in the hunt on Sunday. The last few weeks it seems like only 2 or 3 have really been in it. I would like to see 6 or 7 have a shot at the win, with some of the big names in the mix with some less knowns also.
  10. I think it depends on the age of the person answering the question or where they are from. I remember Greg Norman growing up(younger) and then Tiger. John Daly messed up a whole generation of swings. I never saw Jack, Palmer or Trevino play except on the champions tour/masters. I know they made a big impact. I guess each generation paves the way for the next. But for the popularity of today I would have to say Tiger.
  11. Yep, that was the window I was looking at also. Cool that it somewhat worked out!
  12. So what was the actual play, or are you waiting for more responses? My guess was the safest punch out also, that is just way to many trees to deal with. But more than likely I would have tried to fit it through one of the small windows that existed.
  13. Glad to hear that it went away. Have to remember the calling it a day advice if they come up again for me.
  14. I did some quick research on my lunch break. Large cigars are exempt from a lot of the regulations around tobacco products. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/tobaccocancer/cigarsmoking/cigar-smoking-laws
  15. Just a quick playing updated. I got to play 36 holes this weekend 18 on saturday and 18 on sunday. Saturday I shot a 84(45 front/39 back) on a par 72 course. I had two straight birdies on the back that helped. Nothing great or terrible. I really need to start tracking fairways, GIRs and putts. This was in my monthly league. Sunday I shot a 83(39 front/44 back) on a par 71 course. Casual round with friends and my dad. I plan on doing some more video work this week. Contact for the most part has been pretty good, but my misses are still a pull draw. I still need to work on my follow through turn rates and keeping my head from moving forward at the start of the down swing. But the information and practice suggestion from this site have made a positive impact.
  16. He actually plays with him. They said he has been the "marker" for the past 2 years, good player that does pretty well in Georgia mid amateur.
  17. That is a good line, I'll have to remember that one for later today when I play in my monthly league. Golf channel just said that he will have a playing partner, a marker. Learn something new everyday.
  18. Rory is playing by himself today. Do any of you think this will be an advantage for him?
  19. My dad took me out when I was pretty young 8 or 9, that I can remember. I started to really enjoy it when I was around 12 years old. I still played with my dad for the most part. He involved me any time he could. In my home town there was a back road to the course that I would ride a 4-wheeler to with the clubs strapped to the back so I could go play/practice. I used to shoot low 80s high 70s back in high school, but life events prevented me from playing and practicing a lot. I've recently been able to spend more time practicing and joined this site, so I guess I would call that my second time i've really gotten a passion for the game. Really being able to spend time with my dad and have that common interest is what sparked my passion for the game, also those shots that just "suck you back in". The last few times I've played in my monthly league I've birdied the first hole. It just keeps sucking me back in.
  20. Nice work! What has been the biggest difference the past few rounds?
  21. Does the flag have a number, or the score card have a layout of the hole? I've seen this before and it will usually be a different flag color for each hole or within the local rules on the score card. If all else fails call the pro shop and ask which flag is for which hole.
  22. With elevated greens the ball is more than likely going to run out a little bit more depending on the slope of the green. With the shots that were rolling 15-20 feet forward how elevated was the green and was the green sloping towards you or away?
  23. Smoked chicken enchilada soup seared ahi tuna tostadas Main Course Smoked beef brisket or Salmon pouches seasoned with garlic salt, pepper and EVOO. Garnished with dill, green onions and lemon Asparagas lightly roasted Mashed Potatoes Side salad Fresh baked Dinner rolls Four Peaks IPA and some Pinot Noir Dessert: Assorted Cupcakes
  24. My best guess would be 100-115. Since you get a caddie that knows the course I think that would save 5-10 shots. If I had to play without the caddie it would probably be 125-130 range.
