  1. I was just watching golf fitness videos on youtube, and came across the college of golf at keiser in Florida. does anybody have any experience with this school? or know anyone who does? i already have a bachelors degree in criminal justice from new york institute of technology, but i was looking into their associates degree in golf management. before NYIT i went to Albright college for 3 years before transferring. i got recruited to play golf at albright out of HS and i've always wondered if i could have a career in golf. Thanks guys
  2. +1. i've definitely seen that people can't hit it because they're trying to kill it. i've hit balls farther with a nice smooth swing with good tempo than me trying to swing out of my shoes
  3. i never really liked hybrids, i had a nike back in HS, but i hated the way it looked at setup. def a versatile club though, just not my style
  4. freshman year of college when i bought my titleist 735s, they came with a 2 iron, so i used that for a few years. i just recently picked up a taylormade rbz tour 5 wood. i figured they're way more versatile than a 2 iron, and i could probably hit it farther anyway. i like it so far, haven't played a round with it yet, just hit balls at the range
  5. everything that every one said here is right. lie, grooves, and the greens are all very important. also making sure you have really good contact with the ball is important. striking the ball first followed by the grass is what promotes spin. just keep practicing and you'll get it. i'm not sure how far of a chip you're talking about, but the type of ball you use could help with spin
  6. oh yeah definitely. i'm sure it happens gradually so it's hard to notice
  7. i don't get a tape measure out every time i'm hitting my driver, but i'm sure it ends up in nearly the same spot every time
  8. working on getting my backswing more upright. it's kind of flat at the moment. and also trying to work on being able to hit draws and fades on command
  9. Anybody have the new vokey wedges? if so, what finish, loft, bounce etc. been thinking about picking one of these up as i probably need a new sw soon
  10. i've been playing golf since i was 3, but didn't start playing competitive until high school. got recruited my senior year to play at Albright College, who had just won the conference championship the previous year. my freshman year of HS i was shooting high 40's for 9 holes, and by my freshman year of college i had a 77.5 round average for the season. in college i was at the range and putting practically every day after class, much more practice than i was able to do in high school. so i'd probably say 5 years from the beginning of competitive play to when i was below a 10 handicap
  11. i mean i don't check it every time, but i've basically had the ball in the same spot with my driver ever since i was about 13.
  12. i usually line the ball up just inside my left foot. that helps me hit the ball on the upswing and get the best launch angle. think of yourself as sweeping the ball off the tee, as opposed to hitting down on it like most other clubs
  13. like every one else said, i just put the ball on a tee and give myself basically the best lie i can get in a fairway. i also try to forget that it's on a tee, so i get myself to think that it's just a normal iron shot into a green. for longer irons i tee the ball up maybe 1/4 of an inch, but anything lower than a 5i i just stick the tee all the way in the ground. hope this helps!
  14. thanks! it definitely is a beast. the greens are actually kind of big, but really fast. if you can stay in the fairway you can shoot a good score. once you go in the rough is when it gets sketchy. i was in the rough a few times off the tee and had to lay up on my second shot because it would have been horrible if i tried to hit it to the green from that cabbage. your short game needs to be in tip top shape to play well here
  15. i just picked up a 913 fd 13.5 degree 3 wood last week. love this club, i'm averaging between 260-270 with it so far. i hit the ball really high so i need all my woods to be strong lofted to keep them in the atmosphere
  16. i've been playing prov1 x's for years since we used to get them in college for tournaments. love them. i actually have a new box of bridgestone b330-s that i'm looking forward to hitting this season
  17. I live about 15 minutes from there and played my first round there last year. the weather was perfect and conditions were flawless. i managed to grind out a 79 which i thought was very good considering it was my first round there
  18. I was lucky enough to come across a near perfect condition 910 D2 8.5 degree for about 220 bucks. i couldn't pass it up. just keep checking your local golf stores, and eventually something will show up that is exactly what you want
