  1. I have the 08 FP's as well. Great clubs, I have nothing bad to say about them.
  2. Im aware oakley's are somewhat expensive, but they definitley are worth it in the long run. Ive broke countless pairs of cheaper generic name sunglasses and eventually just broke down and bought the oakley's. I have polarized Minute 2.0's and a pair of Half Jacket's. The half jacket's are great since you can change out the lenses according to weather conditions.
  3. Depending on what division your school is, Id say having a handicap below 10 gives you a good chance to make the team. I started varsity in 8th grade shooting mid to low 40s on 9 ( we don't play 18 in matches), our teams isn't very good though. The tough part is most definetly pulling off shots under pressure.
  4. I believe I am, considering I was the the one without gloves today, not that your foot joy cold weather gloves insulate very well in the first place. Cold weather golf is definitly worth it for anyone who hates playing with crowds. Courses are relatively empty with no waiting on tee boxes. Thats if your willing to brave the elements though, wind can be brutal.
  5. Congrats, Wish my school was D2, Were D3 though. I dont know if you play Holliston or Sudbury but there pretty good. I really wanted to play D2 for Holliston or Wellesley but im stuck in western mass.
  6. Well, pressure is part of competitive golf. What helped me the most is to focus all of my attention on the ball and where i want it to go and just forget about the 25 people right behind me watching me. So many people tell me just to "pretend" its a practice round or "pretend" no ones watching you but that just doesn't work for me so if i just focus all of my attention on the shot i just kind of forget about everyone and everything else.
  7. wow $7.50 for a large...My local driving range is charging almost double that i think it was 14.50 last time i checked. Needless to say i don't go to that driving range anymore, ever
  8. Had the first of three tryouts today. Shot 2 over 38. Not bad. Had a kid on our team shoot even par 36 though. Looks like ill have to pull a a even or -1 to win the one spot. Its do-able on a good day though. Top 4 spots on my our team are looking good, but the last two are averaging high 40s which isn't going to win a lot of points.
  9. I like the idea of just playing 7 people and taking the best 6 scores then the team with the lower score wins. It seems a lot more simple then the way my league does it. Tournaments in my league are like that however. Head to head with your oppenent can be fun sometimes though.
  10. How are peoples high schools golf matches being played? My school does a combo of stroke play and match play. Every three holes is worth a point and the overall round is worth one point. I like it because if i have a bad first 3 holes i can still recover and get the next two points through the next six holes.
  11. I play regularly at two course, one is very upscale, dress code, and a surplus population of arrogant egocentrical snobs. Not all the members are like this, but many. The other course i often play is a public course and is the epitome of a public course. No dress code, slower play and no where near in good of condition as the private course. Any day id rather play the public course though. I've played with a countless number of people playing with cut offs, jean shorts and flip flops and ive had some of the most fun rounds of my life with people like that. Most are extremley friendly and are playing golf to have fun, which is the whole purpose of it to begin with. I just think some people use golf or the country club they belong too as a status symbol which really irritates me. Don't look down on someone because they cant afford to wear a $80 polo to play golf or care more about having fun playing then what their wearing. Also, don't be surprised if the guy with the cut offs and backwards hat beats you, just because you look like a pro doesn't mean you are one. sorry for the rant and this wasn't directed at anyone inparticular.
  12. Decent 77 (39, 38) Had a guy steal my ball on the 6th hole though. Asked some people that were waiting to tee off on the 7th and said he just picked it up and took off...a$$hole! I took a free drop, i wasnt really sure what to do according to the rules, but i diden't see it as giving me any advantage in dropping in a fairway so whatever.
  13. Im going into my last year playing high school golf. Ive been on varsity since 7th grade and moved up every year and finally this year looks like im gunna be playing the #1 spot. Im pumped Im gunna miss it after this season though. But im looking forward to college golf.
  14. Testing out some new irons today, shot 40 with a 6 iron,7 iron, sand wedge and putter. Made the par 5s a lot longer teeing off with a 6 iron. Gotta get my spin under control, keep sinning it off the green after that im good to go!
  15. 39 for 9 today Wasn't too happy. Hit the big stick pretty consistently but putting was bad 19 putts on 9 holes, not a great putting day.
