I saw those individual stats, Thank you. Is there anything that shows the average for the tour stats? I can't seem to find that. Not sure if they carry that on their sites or if it under a different heading.
-
I'm not sure how to simplify this any more then it already has been. What tour has the best stats, i.e. FIR, GIR and so on and so on. What exactly do you not understand? the point of the thread was to see what tour has the best stats!
-
Not very concerned with actual scores but yes FIR, GIR, scrambling, stats like that. I don't think its impossible to find out. I'm sure theres somewhere that has these stats and I know all the tours play different courses, I'm not concerned about that. I'm just wondering which tour has the best stats. and eventually they will play a lot of the same courses or courses of the same caliber. Yes the LPGA is shorter then the PGA as far as yardage goes but this thread is strictly statistical.
-
I know all the biggest prize money is dumped into the PGA tour cause thats where the best golfers play (as far as toughest to beat). But what is the best tour statistically? PGA, PGA Europe, Web.com, Champions tour or LPGA? Not sure if a thread like this is out there, I didn't see one if it is. I ask because a lot of my friends that watch golf only like the PGA tour but I watch 3, the PGA LPGA and PGA Europe. I see so many awesome shots on all 3 tours but I notice a lot of drives hit the ruff in the PGA. So I ask what is the best tour statistically?

President Obama Denied a Tee Time Labor Day Weekend
BrownCoast replied to billchao's topic in The Grill Room
Either way, he didn't address the crisis and you can't expect the guy to always be working. I just fail to see how him not getting a tee time is worthy of making news. I get the problem with Isis but theres always things the prez will have to worry about yet he will still play a round of golf or have leisure time. The fact is they're making an issue that he couldn't get a tee time so he went home early...seriously this is what they have to report on. There is so many other things going on in the world that is far more interesting then the prez not getting a tee time on a busy long weekend. -
President Obama Denied a Tee Time Labor Day Weekend
BrownCoast replied to billchao's topic in The Grill Room
I've been denied tee times lots of times and always at private clubs that I don't belong to. Why hasn't my story made the news? ...Oh yeah cause no one cares! At the end of the day its not news or a story. Its just a guy that tried to play golf on a busy weekend and was denied due to full occupancy. -
If you look at golfers from way back...and I mean waaaaaaaay back in the day up until just before Tiger came along, how many were built like they are now? Sure theres still golfers on tour that may be closer to the bowling ball frame then the "athletic" frame but look at all that do look like pure athletes. Tiger, Rory, Keegan, A Scott, and Rickie just to name a few. Not to mention all the workouts that are geared towards golfers and ways to increase flexibility and power. Its crazy to think Tiger did nothing for golf! His popularity attracted so much attention from fans, companies and sponsors. He single handedly raised the level of play for all current golfers. So I guess if we disregard ratings going up in tournaments he played in. Him getting paid to play in tournaments. The new breed of "athletic" golfer. Nike paying $250 million just for him to play and wear nike. Buick sponsoring him. EA sports using his name on their golf game for over a decade. Then yeah you can say he did nothing for golf...where would golf be? Well it would still be where it is today, it just wouldn't be as good as it is. The long hitters wouldn't be as many or as far, the prize money would still be huge but I don't think as huge. We probably wouldn't have the Tiger slam (or the name of someone else instead of Tiger) no discussions of "will he beat Jacks major record?" I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not a Tiger fan. Most of the time it seemed like he was acting like a little bi*ch on the course when he misses a putt or hits into trouble, but Tiger Woods is "THE MAM" when it comes to golf. I think now you see a lighter side of Tiger where he is joking more often but there was a long time when he always seemed way too serious. All I can say for sure is thank God that Puma came along to do something about the awful fashion that took place for the past 400 years!
-
I have never been a fan of Tiger but I will give him credit. I believe he was a major factor in golfs popularity in the mid/late 90's. $250 million to play for nike, paid to play certain tournaments. Fans moving hazards for him! Yes I believe golf may have had a few others to step into his role however none that would have done it as well as Tiger. Just like Jordan in basketball or Gretzky in hockey. Yes there was greats before them and even after but what they did for the sport (just like Tiger) lasts for many many years after they are gone from the game.

Generally it is hitting into trouble with the driver or long irons causing penalty strokes to add up a little too fast for my liking. Then theres the days I'm hitting off the deck pretty consistent. those are the days where I flub the short irons or wedges. Followed by a nice chip from around the green to across the green and then leave myself a long putt...which I can usually do a good job 3 putting. But other than that I think my game is flawless lol

Its still USA vs. I just thought if they had a once a year event which allowed for x amount of teams and players picked from wherever to play together it would be cool. Even if it was a charity event or something like that. I didn't mean lets have lots of team events but just something that wasn't USA vs whoever. I think it would be cool to see Tiger and Adam Scott on the same team (as an example) or Rickie Fowler teamed up with Lidia Ko vs Rory and Lexi in a best ball. But I get that its not for everyone. I just thought it would be a different approach to what we are used to watching.
-
Yes people like the Ryder cup and Presidents cup but its always USA vs Europe. I think it would be nice to see 4 captains picking teams in a fantasy style snake like draft. Incase there is someone unfamiliar with that. round 1, picks go in order as selected, round 2 reverse order and it continues like that for however many rounds they choose. It would be nice to see more team golf done this way (as a fan, speaking from a fans point of view). I also think it would create playing partners we normally wouldn't see. To elaborate on that one step further, add x amount of women from the lpga on each team. This way you can have the men playing against each other. women playing each other and mixed teams as well. What do you guys and gals think?

Royal & Ancient Golf Club to Vote on Allowing Females
BrownCoast replied to billchao's topic in Golf Talk
Met, hit, its all the same lol. I'm not a fan of stuck up people, and I honestly don't know whats worse stuck up people or stuck up rich people!?! Either way, they are entitled to have their own beliefs and we are entitled to meet them if we so choose...if that leads to hitting them then I guess they get what they deserve (in my mind) -
But it is nice to have options right? The only new TM equipment I own is the wedges and the 3 wood which are from last year, everything else is older. I was never under the impression my equipment was no good once the newer stuff came out. TM, Callaway, Cobra, Adams, Nike, Mizuno, Titleist and all the rest all make great stuff. Sure some might not work as well as others for ones individual swing or appealing to the eye. These companies all have one thing in mind, money! They all have people running the business with marketing backgrounds or business backgrounds. They know what they are doing. Sure sometimes it gets to be a bit much when you see commercials or mag ads that say the best new thing in golf but hey thats how then advertise and lets face it, it works! If it didn't they wouldn't dump a fortune on advertising.

I'm not sure how often people on here or just people in general buy new golf stuff. I would assume that if you bought a new driver just as if you were to buy a new computer, when the next one gets released the following 6 months, year or even 2 years later, it doesn't mean you have to buy it. I'm using a computer from 4 years ago. I use my computer everyday, there has been new computers released at an even faster rate then golf equipment but that doesn't mean I need a new one. All Taylormade is doing is giving options for consumers. If you think you need the newest most up to date piece of equipment to score well, then yes be mad at Taylormade (but I assure you, thats not the reason you are not a pro golfer). I'm not sure why theres so many haters of companies that aren't Titleist or Mizuno but at the end of the day its a business and all these companies really care about is $$$ and lots of it. Some will get it by doing minimal R&D; and only releasing clubs every 2 years others every 6 months. iphone releases a phone every year, Samsung releases 2 or 3 a year (smart/super phones). Is one better then the other? It depends on what you like. I refuse to pay $55 for a box of golf balls but others don't mind it. Same as I know that buying last years ball with a different name doesn't mean its an outdated ball it just means I save money . I own TM products but in no way will I fall for the "the next best thing" marketing plan. I love the options but doesn't mean I run out and buy new stuff every 6 months. All that said, I would love to own a set of Ping clubs!!! They offer a lot of options and almost everything, if not everything for lefties!

Last year at one point I only had a 5 wood and hybrids in the bag. Now I'm currently carrying; Driver 9.5* 3 wood 15* 3 hybrid I don't even keep my 3 iron in the bag cause it never gets used. I am looking at replacing the driver to something with a touch more loft. Maybe a 10 or 10.5

Royal & Ancient Golf Club to Vote on Allowing Females
BrownCoast replied to billchao's topic in Golf Talk
I think we might all wish they were free but no they shouldn't be free and in no way should tax payers pay for it! As far as affording to play and not being able to play because of sex or race, those are 2 very different things, VERY VERY DIFFERENT. (not meant as yelling, just accentuating the point) On a side note to this, does this club allow women who once were men or men who once were women to join? I'm not trying to be a smart ass here I'm asking because I think it does pertain to this topic. Or do they not allow any trans-gender person to join? My guess is they don't but thats just a guess and holds no merit to if they do or don't. -

But I've hit plenty of people who are just mean to different kinds of people and that bugs me. I'm not a violent person but I can't agree with you more!!! Some people just need a good beating! Some of the funnest people I have golfed with were females. We've had work golf days where 20-36 of us got together and played golf. great golfers and hackers. Men and Women. It was so much fun!!! why leave them out of certain places, I don't know? I guess in the end it really is their loss and if they want to continue to look like sexist idiots then may their wives find better men...wait, they probably aren't married. Lets face it these guys sound like they couldn't get laid if they paid for it. -
I heard the lethal was just as good as the pro v series and the new tp balls are pretty much the same but when it comes to golf balls people like to say "I play pro v" or "B330" not switch it up every year. Clubs we buy once and generally hold onto them for multiple years. Golfballs we are always replacing cause they get shredded or lost or like to go swimming lol. So its easier to always look for the same name instead of finding the new premium brand and wondering what did they change? Will it perform like the old one? I'm sure they made changes to the pro v balls, at least I would hope they did. But people know its probably minor and the ball will have the same feel as they are used to. I tried the Ping Piper C and really like that putter. I probably wont replace anything this year but I hope to in the off season. although I do like the stage 2 tour irons and the sldr irons look nice but I'm sure next season TM will release the "new must have" clubs. I did check out the i25 irons and like the overall specs. just have to hit a few

I wish they just stuck with the tour preferred name for tour level balls. I know they went back to it this year maybe it will stick this time around. As for the LDP, they continue to keep that. So we know they know how to reuse a name and stick with it lol. If they want to change something every year, change the box they come in. As for their premium and distance balls, well they've used burner a few times so stick with that and as for premium just find something and stick with it. But thats just me. I would prefer a one name line up like titleist has pro v nxt velocity and dt solo, bridgestone has their b series, e series and the fix. Names we can continue to follow. even when they do change things about the ball they keep it in the same lineup so that consumers know what they like and will continue to buy based on the name. I believe titleist upgrades their ball they just keep the name that so many know.

Breaking 100 feels great and now that you're right there if I can offer one bit of advise for the next round, Don't try to get to the 18th hole before you finish the first. Don't put the pressure of breaking 100 on yourself. Just focus on your shot and continue to play with a strategy. Good luck and keep us posted!

I like titleist AP2 irons, like I said I owned a set. sadly it was out of my league so I gave them to a friend who is a better golfer then me. I wish I could hit those irons! As for the prov1 I hit that ball and found it really nice...well I used the 1x but same thing. I just didn't find it to be worth my while especially since I can find water and trouble with ease. so $5 for a lost ball doesn't seem right. I alsoFind it funny that they charge so much for balls from 4 years ago. If they do add and make changes to their balls then why are past models still so expensive if they in fact improved their golf ball. and if Callaway or TM just kept the same name for balls I think people would start to think of them the same way they do about Titleist balls. I read that one of the big wigs from Titleist ball department left there and joined TM last year and created lethal. I don't often comment on ping or mizuno cause I never hit them but ping does catch my eye and seems like they have a lot of options from drivers right down to putters for all levels. That is the next set I'd like to try. And Ping has a fantastic website with lots of info. For a company I've never tried I can say I'm a big fan!

Royal & Ancient Golf Club to Vote on Allowing Females
BrownCoast replied to billchao's topic in Golf Talk
I know they have to put things to a vote in private clubs I'm saying that it has taken this long baffles me. As for the anagram, he told me thats where the name golf came from. I'm not taking it too far I'm quoting what was said to me. Maybe golf didn't allow women to play 400+ years ago. Has this club ever allowed an LPGA event? or have they had PGA events where women spectators were allowed to buy tickets to and able to come and watch?
