  1. I'm definitely game and I'm probably more of a scrub than you guys. Depending on the day and the course I might shoot anywhere from an 88 to 110. lol Can play fast or leisurely so doesn't matter to me and I don't mind the heat either.
  2. Can't wait and look forward to it
  3. I'm all for it guys...though i will admit im not much of a walker on the course...but definitely just getting out and being active the weight is coming off of me in a hurry. Also, I'm right in the middle of everyone...45 minutes to charlotte, 45 to greensboro, 35 to winston, just over an hour to both raleigh and pinehurst and around 3 1/2 to myrtle. :)
  4. Sounds like we are along the same course man. I am 31 and although I played, or rather hacked, off and on up until about 6 years ago when my clubs were stolen I never took it serious or put any real effort into it up until a few months ago. At the most I played maybe 6 or 7 times a year so I definitely view this as beginning golf. Now I can honestly say that I am totally addicted playing at least once a week and driving range as much as possible. I love to travel and look forward to playing the different courses around the area as well as maybe some longer trips. Would love to find some similar skilled players to play with and maybe even plan a fall trip to Myrtle for a few days on the links.
  5. Welcome, live in the triad area myself. Just started a few months ago myself.
  6. what part of SC are you now living in?
  7. OP, any plans to try to qualify for the Wyndham in Greensboro next month?
  8. Other day was playing my home course and topped my 2nd shot and it rolled down to the edge of a creek that runs in front of the green. Just as I got to the creek saw one of those bastards sunning himself on a rock in the creek, he saw me and slithered underneath the rock. Don't think my ball went into the hazard but had no desire to find it at that point. Slowly moved back a good 40 yards and dropped another one. Didn't assess myself any penalty strokes as I figure the lost distance paired with my shaky nerves on the next shot was penalty enough. :)
  9. Check out Keith Hills Golf Club...little south of you in the town of Buies Creek. Not sure what it's like now but I hear good things, actually used to host the ACC tournament up until maybe a decade or so ago. Looks like very reasonable prices and definitely will be better traffic for you getting to and from the course than some of the tracks in Raleigh/Cary area.
  10. OP, used to live in Myrtle and now actually living about 45 minutes north of your current location. Let me know if you need any non-golf advice about the area. Well you can ask me about the golf also but these folks and the ones on MBGT probably have that covered for you.
  11. just getting back into the game myself after a few years layoff. although i played previously, i was more of the weekend warrior type who played maybe 15-20 times a year and rarely put in time at the driving range. this time I'm taking it more serious and putting in the needed practice. before I always played the white tees (Blue,White, Yellow, Red setup). Now that I'm just getting back into the game and hearing about the TIF move I planned to do just that. After playing a couple of rounds I decided to take a different approach. When I go to a course I don't decide to play a particular color (White or yellow), but decide at each hole. Some holes I'm fully capable of playing the whites while other times yellow is much more suitable for my current skill level. Is there anything particularly wrong with this method?
  12. Okay let's just settle this...if you were playing a 1 at 14, you were obviously one of the best High School golfers in at least your home state. Thus being the case, surely there are archived news articles detailing your achievements at that level readily available on the internet. Links to those articles to prove your claims please?
  13. Hi I'm Scott. Just picking the game back up (first time with any seriousness to it) after quite a few years away from it. Live in Lexington, NC which is about halfway between Greensboro and Charlotte. Almost forty, single and needed something to focus on in the less wild years of life that seems to be approaching fast.
