  1. When I am playing a non competitive round I'll usually pick up when I hit my Equitable Stroke Control(ESC) limit which right now is generally a 9. ESC is based on your course handicap... http://www.usga.org/HandicapFAQ/handicap_answer.asp?FAQidx=9
  2. Sounds like things are getting better.. 47 on the front, great job! Been there done that! I had a lesson Tuesday to work on my driver. I have been hitting it fairly straight recently but my distance has been pretty bad. Probably averaging around 210-215. So my instructor got me on the right track, I guesstimated that I was averaging around 235 on the range, not counting the ones I duffed a 100 or so yards. Anyhow, I had league yesterday and I got out early enough to play 9 before league started with the intent to test out my driver. It was a disaster.. The first three holes I had terrible contact, put 1 in a pond and two others in a ditch. Fourth hole I made good contact but a bad slice put it out of bounds. I only hit two playable drives, with mild slices on both. One was about 240 and the other about 185. Four water balls and one OB later I shot a 60. Needless to say I left my driver in my bag for league, and teed off with my 3 wood and 5 wood. Shot a 54 for league, not really happy with that, but it was a lot better than a 60!
  3. I quit eagerly waiting a long time ago. So at least now we have time frame of when it is released. I started watching the series first then started reading the books. Now I have a tough time keeping the story lines and characters straight. Back on topic, I am currently reading Inferno -- The World at War 1939-1945 - Max Hastings.

    Playing Alone

I don't think I score significantly different when playing alone. But I will work on my game a little more if I don't have anyone behind me.
  5. URL: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/pecos24 Username: pecos24 Real Name: Bill Zander Nothing posted yet. My Game Golf should be here Friday so I should have a round posted by the weekend.
  6. I am joining the Game Golf ranks as well. I purchased a new one on eBay for $135. Should have it next week sometime.
  7. Down .3 to 30.1. I need to get more golf in. Only 2 nine hole rounds in for this last revision...
  8. I don't have much to say other then been there done that. It is hard to incorporate a bunch of new info from a lesson out on the course. Plenty of practice, as you noted, and when you are playing keep those swing thoughts to a minimum. I know if have more than 1 or 2 things on my my mind as I am trying to swing it usually ends in disaster.
  9. @kenpugh I would suggest making an entry in the Member Swing section of the forums... http://thesandtrap.com/f/4180/member-swings
  10. I was only able to get 9 in today. Shot a 49 which was somewhat of a surprise since I had a couple water balls. But I had a couple pars to even those two crappy holes out. My driver I am hitting more consistent but I am just not hitting it very far which is a little discouraging. Today on the 4 holes I used driver I averaged about 210...
  11. 30.4 up .2 from last time. Had a lower differential drop off and didn't golf well enough to replace it.
  12. Nice Christian. I had plans on playing over the weekend but my son brought the flu home last week. I missed league last week and didn't feel much like playing over the weekend. I'll have to make up for it over the next couple weeks.
  13. Creeping down.... 30.2 from 30.3.
  14. Well I made it back to "normal" tonight at league. Played from the blues on the easier 9 and shot a 51, 3 under my course handicap. Still looking for those 40's :)
  15. Bull Snake/Gopher Snake? http://www.ndow.org/Species/Reptiles/Great_Basin_Gopher_Snake/
  16. I want outrageous speed with a Callaway XR driver! Phil Mickelson -1 Dustin Johnson -1 Justin Rose -1
  17. I don't generally go to this site unless I am referencing the rules or handicap sections. Those don't seem any easier or harder to get to. Looks like they are going pretty heavy on the example/instruction videos, which may be a good thing.
  18. When my copy of LSW gets here and I learn how to map my shot zones I hope I will have these distances a little more dialed in. I don't use my 4I or 5I very often so those distances are best guesses as well as my new 3 wood. Everything else should be pretty close. Driver - 215 ( driver distances really fluctuating this year... 200 - 240) 3W - 220? (new club in my bag this year and I have not hit it very consistent) 5W - 195-200 7W - 185-190 4I - 180-185 5I - 170-175 6I - 165 7I - 150 8I - 140 9I - 130-135 PW - 115-120 AW - 100-105 SW - 90-95
  19. Very cool! Great job! I am sorry you now have to move to the bogey golfers thread...
  20. Nice job @9wood ! I am no golf pro, obviously, but you can turn your head to watch your ball, just don't lift your body up. Your round sounds like my Wednesday round except you had a much better score! Congrats on the 94 and the birdie!
  21. I guess I didn't mean hit the range just before the round. I have been kind of avoiding that because I think most times it does me more harm than good. But I do try to hit the range over lunch a couple times of week just to get some good practice in and I did not get that done this week.
  22. You think I would start learning the importance of practice, as bad as I am, but apparently I am a slow learner... I had league last night. Before my round started I did some chipping and sand trap practice but avoided the range. (I haven't been to the range since last week, though I did play 18 on Sunday) It was a freakin' disaster. 2 OBs, multiple mishits, and when I did strike the ball well it seems that half the time I would find a trap or other such trouble. I shot a 62(61 ESC). The only thing that saved me is my opponent played about as bad as I did. Hopefully I learned my lesson! I will definitely be hitting the range before my next round.
  23. Well I finally have my book ordered...now I have a question, one I probably should have asked before ordering the book... I have read a lot of references about shot zone mapping and using tools like Trackman and Flightscope to assist in this mapping. I am relatively sure I don't have access to either of these tools in my area. I am wondering is it reasonable to go to the range to create these maps and take into consideration that the range balls are flying 5-10% less than a normal ball?
