40 at Front 9 @ Highland Country Club in Attleboro, MA. Missed a five foot putt on the last to break 40 for the first time in the season. First time I felt like I was starting to get my putting back though.

I subscribe to golf Mag. and Golf Digest, and I think that Golf Digest is far and away the best. Better writers, better equipment reviews, more touring pro contributions, etc.

1) Play golf every day this Summer (I'm a junior) 2) Eliminate three putts 3) Practice working the ball a little more 4) New Driver (very close right now)

Thinking about a new 3-wood
coltonwill replied to Grndslmhttr3's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I second that, I've tried several FWs and despite the fact that Titleists aren't as forgiving, they grow on you more so than Taylormades, Nikes, etc. Of course, I think that FWS are pretty personal clubs, like wedges or putters, so its really your call. I believe Annika Sorenstam used some Callaway Steelhead Pluses from the 90's until relatively recently, and Tiger's Titleist FW was the last club in his bag to switch to Nike (besides his putter) -
A $10 "driving iron" from the mid nineties I found in a Sport Authority. It was a "Pro Select Pro Action 363" w/ 23* of loft. It was almost comical how bad the club was. It felt like it was made out of rubber.

I've always wondered this. What kind of discounts do employees of Titleist (or any other manufacturer) get when they buy equipment?

Want to talk Colorado golf?
coltonwill replied to jhawker23's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I used to live in Castle Rock. Absolutely beautiful out there. My personal favorite course in Colorado was the Blue Course at the Air Force Academy. Robert Trent Jones designed. $6 junior rate when you go with someone with a military ID, and $20ish for adult with military ID. Also played The Ridge which was within half a mile from my house. I played Bear Dance once, too. Again, absolutely beautiful. The PGA Tour needs to come back out after losing the International -
Is it possible to reshaft the non TP version, or are you stuck with the stock shaft?
-
Went to the Boston Golf Expo today, and looked around the Taylormade booth. I tried out the R9, and absolutely loved it, but as soon as I left I realized that I had forgotten to ask the rep my main question about the driver, How do you reshaft a R9, while maintaing the FCT feature?

OK, that makes sense. Based on what you said, I think I will get a fitted shaft, too. I have also heard that about Titleist woods from another player. My driver swing speed is (currently) 104, so I'm guessing that stiff should be the right flex if I don't get custom fit, right? Thanks again for everybody's help.

Thanks for all the help, guys. Hidalgo, I have a Titleist 904 f 3-wood, with a Graphite Design YS-6+ shaft in it. I chose this (stock option) shaft a couple years ago when I bought the club, after trying out some of the other options. It didn't seem to launch too high, or too low, and even though I don't have much experience in the area, it seemed to be the right shaft for my game. from what you guys are saying, it also seems like (if I didn't get a full blown custom fitted club) that a YS-7+ would work pretty well?

Since I'm in high school, I don't have very much experience with custom fitting, or, more specifically, shaft selection. For a while, I've just used stock shafts, since my swing specs, and even mechanics, seem to change every season as I grow. However, I've realized that I've grown out of the Regular shaft in my 3-wood. My question is, when you buy a new wood shaft, do you use the same shafts in fairway woods as you would in drivers? At golfsmith.com they don't have a lot of specific "fairway wood shafts", just "wood shafts".

Best Golf Course Bargain you have ever enjoyed?
coltonwill replied to jonanthans's topic in Golf Talk
USAFA Blue Course in Colorado Springs. Its one of the best public courses in Colorado (if you have a military ID, or go with some one you do), and costs $6 for a junior and around $20 for an adult with ID. ($50 without) -
What's The Funniest Shot You've Ever Seen On The Golf Course
coltonwill replied to play4him's topic in Golf Talk
I was playing with my Dad one day, and on the tee he completely shanked it into a tree, it went backwards onto the green that was parallel to the tee box, and trickeled into the hole. -
I'm a skinny kid at 5'9" 120 lbs. (High school freshman), but I averaged 239.4 yds on the Vector launch system recently. My teammates and I did the math, and I have the largest yards per pound ratio on the team ;)

The Darjeeling Limited is a very good movie. You may not of heard of it, but it was verry good. It had comedy, action, drama, all sewn up into a visually & emotionally beautiful movie set in India. (just went all movie critic)

I saw a bunch at Sports Authority the other day... but it doesn't look like you could be able to go there.

Thinking about buying new wedges for the next couple of high school golf seasons, but since I might use them for college too, I thought that I should get wedges that conform to the new USGA rules ( which will be in affect when I start college). Are Spin Milled Vokeys going to conform? Also, the Cleveland cg12 &cg13; won't be legal because of their zip groves, right? Any recommendations for wedges that will be legal?

Norman Manley has 59 hole-in-ones. He also scored 2 hole-in-ones on 2 successive par-4s at Del Valley CC.

Which one do you like more? (pros and cons) I want to replace my R580 but I want to stick with Taylormade

Denver Area Course to Play?
coltonwill replied to Saturday Golfer's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Bear Dance and The Ridge at Castle Pines North are both very good courses. -
irons similar to the callaway x-20
coltonwill replied to eurofighter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have x-18's. I got them after testing the X-20's too. They both play almost identically, and there isn't enough difference to justify the cost difference. -
Your height and your putter length
coltonwill replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
5'9" and 34", but its all about comfort. I know a 6'3" guy who uses a 33" putter and bends over the ball like Jack Nicklaus, but is one of the best putters I know.
