1. It does sound like a very intriguing model. And it would definitely create jobs up and down the Central Valley all the way to the coast.
2. Th
This is why we need large scale desalinization. We should be pumping salt water into the high desert and use the sun to distill the water on a large scale for farming. The leftover salt can be spread out over the flats near Trono and bring back jobs into that area. The conservationists shut down a plant that was built a decade ago in Santa Barbara, I bet they regret doing that.
There was a discussion about this same thing during lunch last Friday, it was amongst the teachers so I didn't chime in, but some would counter with it wouldn't be cost effective and the energy it would take to produce enough water would polite the air. I personally don't know the process but it seems like it could be a solution to this problem. Edit: just researched solar desalination I agree with you on that. The only byproduct from the process itself would be the salt but what would be the cost of transporting all that water to that location? With that being said, water is a necessity so the cost may and quite possibly not even be a factor, more of matter of when.
3. Very Scary situation. All of the county courses in my area are dirt and yellow. Combo of high heat and no water is bad. Some communities have been forced to share a water reserve that is non drinkable. This situation definitely has opened my eyes to how bad things could get if we were to lose something that we absolutely need to survive
4. This is true, but I would not be in the right state of mind for anything for I don't know how long. This is just my opinion. To each their own, but if it's my child, I would want to be there for their 1st breath in this world.
5. You never want to think for the worst but if there were to be any complications with the birth, I would never forgive myself for letting her go through what would happen next alone.
6. Only cried one time since my mom passed and it was senior night, last night of basketball and I dedicated my entire speech to her.
7. He's definitely a guy I want behind center leading the team. Everyone has bad games. It's the 2nd game of the year, no need to panic. Just hate lose games like that. And speaking of tears, it hurt seeing Charles Tillman cry. I hate when people say theres no room for crying in sports. The man is dedicating everything he has to become a better player for his team, and to lose your season over an injury is devastating. He's one of the good guys of the league so it sucks to see that happen for him
8. Being a Niner fan, that game was depressing. To turn the ball over 4 times and still be in the game is tough. Definitely shot themselves in the foot. And worst game of Kaeps career so far. Forced throws and didn't look comfortable. Offense needs to get back to the smash mouth run it down their throat. Idc if they stack the box.
9. Easiest test I taken in some time
10. I'm a Community Work Experience Instructional Assistant for special education jr sr from our county high school district. We are a vocational transition facility that provides job training to SDC level. I also coach Basketball at the Highschool I graduated from. This upcoming season will be my 4th year as a Highschool coach.
11. I found this true for the one I worked at. Aside from the few younger employees a lot oft then co workers were half speed go through the motions people. Working over night is tough if you are not used to it but some of those guys/gals had been there 5+ years and just seemed to out of it like they hated their lives and were always tired. Walmart may not be the greatest store but it's a job, and the opportunity of advancement in their system is extremely high.
12. I agree, people are different. We respond to situations different. Human nature. When it comes to coaching I give respect equally to all my players as long as I get that respect back, if I don't 9/10 times that player will no longer be on my team. As for motivation some kids respond to yelling where as others fold when yelled at, and would rather have a pump up before hand, or individual pep talk. Before we touch the floor each year I have my players answer a few questions about themselves and what they define as success and so forth. Helps me gauge what type of mental player they are.
13. Point of emphasis is the worst thing to tell an official. Why don't you focus on this so that's all we will call the for next 16 games then turn around and say there's too much this and we have to focus on that so we can call it all next year. How about focusing on being a better official, not the guy who is too worried looking for certain contact he throws a flag when a player gets sneezed on.
14. Not sure where I should post this so I came here, I work in education and do not work over the summer so I decided to work overnights to earn extra cash at Walmart. My first night actually working after all the training BS my manager asks me if I was ready to give 120% tonight. My answer was no. This threw him off big time. He asked again and my answer was the same. After an awkward few seconds explained my reasoning to him. I told him I was here to work and I was here to give 100% effort in whatever task I was assigned. I told him there is no such thing as 120% 1000% etc effort, and that I disliked that method or saying when it comes to motivation. I head coach JV basketball and assist for Varsity and the 1 and only thing I ask of all my players is 100% effort, I don't want to ask you to be more than you can possibly be. There's no way you can have 120% of that pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, so there's no way I'm going to ask you to be superhuman. All I ask is that each time you step in the gym is give all that you have and don't pretend to have more and don't save that extra effort because that extra effort is full effort. After explaining it he just said as long as I'm here to work I'll have no problems. The next day I get called in by the big boss as to why I wasn't being a "team player". I wanted to lol and walk out but that would have got me fired so explained it all over to him and he told me the same thing, to just make sure I put forth the effort. It pissed me off because I believe if you get payed to do something you should do all that is asked within those duties and that's what I was doing. I guess the manager thought I was being a wise ass when I explained my thoughts, didn't mean anything by it, just really really don't like that saying. Sorry for the TLDR. Just want to know what people think motivation means and what motivates them, and what they do to motivate others. I love coaching and motivation is one of the biggest tools you can have as a coach.
15. Not to me but my best friend was playing with some buddies from work and one of them was having girls problems and she wouldn't stop calling him on the course, they get to the 7th hole, and instead of teeing up a ball, he tees up his iPhone 3 at the time and absolutely obliterated it. I wish I still had the picture. As for me, nothing really. Still new to the game
16. Hole 9 at North Kern, best shot I have ever hit off a tee. Crushed the ball 304 after a small downhill. Was able to reach with a gap wedge. Missed my birdie(killed me inside) tapped for par. That drive felt absolutely amazing. Let me know when I put all the pieces together I can have a great swing, just gotta be consistent. Loving this hobby
17. Not a USC fan but always nice to see local athletes play well. Played basketball against Kessler when he was a sophomore and I was a senior. Dropped 40 on us. He was a great basketball player.
18. 91 on a par 62. My PR on that course. Should have been in the low 80s. My short game needs tons of work. Progress is progress.
19. Thanks, realized after I should have just searched the forums. Still figuring this place out.
20. Will have to try one on next time I'm at the shop. Thanks.
21. I have a big hand and have always wore large gloves for work, so I bought a lg golf glove. It seemed like it didn't fit right and was awkward. Saved me from blisters. But today my hand was good after 17 holes gloveless. Maybe I need a better one or size. Plan to play gloveless now anyway so we shall see
22. Played a round today with my buddies. Got there early because we knew today would be packed, so we bought two smalls to hit before we tee'd off. Warmed up without my glove and that's the best I've struck the ball since I've started playing. Played the 1st hole with my glove and was terrible, 6 on a par3. Threw the glove in the bag and felt good for the rest of the day. My guess is it was either in my head or my glove sucked because it was a huge difference. I felt like I was more connected with the club. Does anyone else play completely gloveless?
23. Thanks for all the advice guys. I look forward to learning and sharing experiences on this forum. Going to focus on eliminating the really bad shots and the overthinking. Just play and have fun.
24. I'm an Instructional assistant on the path to becoming a teacher, and I coach the JV basketball team. Weekdays are packed. Goal is to play at least 3 Saturdays a month when we don't have tourneys for bball, and hit when I can at one of the local ranges. But you're right, can't beat the schedule of someone who teaches.
25. Thanks for this, more of a logical goal. Now that summer is passing I won't be able to play as often as I like(work in education)but I'm going to try to hit the range as often as possible.
