Does this same rule apply to the 21 year old blonde in the end stall, that had a hard time squeezing into her "Golf Shirt".

So can i bend my 50 to a 52 then?
-
After much debate, I found a smoking deal on a set of Cobra SZ Irons, #4 to Gap wedge. My question now is, what Lofts of wedges should i stuff in the bag, as the Gap wedge is 49 Deg according to the Cobra website. I have a nickent Arc 50 deg. and was thinking of bending it to 52, and getting maybe a 56 and 60 (as i really like this wedge, and would like to get another 2) Are these gaps too much, and will bending the 50 F up the way the club swings at all? Peace.
-
OK- I tried out these, the Nike ignites, and the King Cobra SZ's. The Cobras felt the best, but the set was over priced (compared to what they are online)- Is it worth buying the set with a gap wedge. or would i be better off just filling out the set with some- say Nickent arc wedges? Also if anyone has a set of these around they want to get rid of, I will gladly take them off your hands :)

I seen these after a little bit of research. They felt ok on the simulator, but was wondering if anyone had experience with them on the course? http://www.golftown.com/gtcommerce/s...P13980C23.aspx I am a little leary of the uniflex shafts, although I do not have alot of experience with them. $400 Can for a 9 club set seemed pretty decent though.

I was getting a "fitting" by a local club fitter, and I hit the MC560's pretty decent. He only had me try Wishon heads however, and when i asked about some OEM brands he got a little irrate. As much as I did like them, IF i hate them 2 months down the road, I am out $500 bucks as I see a few posts with people trying hard to sell them for $200. (There were 2 options - a new set with steel shafts for $700 Can, or a used set for the same amount with Aerotech Steelfibre i85's. )

Sorry- too used to fishing talk- I guess i meant troll as in the fishing sense? Wandering aimlessly through the ocean with rods in the water... Thanks for all the input guys- The hunt still continues- more because I am cheap I guess, and after getting stung by my old irons, am a tad nervous too.
-
Hmmm.. Has anyone here hit the Mizuno MX-950's? There is a set in town for $350 bucks... Seems a tad cheap, but used clubs here tend to go for less.
-
As true as this may be, for some reason just using the forged irons gave me more confidence... I am looking into the MX-200's, and will swing some tommorrow. They are selling for about $400 used with shipping. Is this reasonable?
-
Yeah- I was quoted around $650 for a set of the Wishons, which seemed like an awful lot of money for clubs that would be worth 1/3 that the second I walked out the door. I can spend $600, but I would like to spend less of course- Anyone know of a good place in Canada to scour for used clubs online? I am afraid of getting dinged at the border by customs...
-
I know the differrence between the 2 processes... I tried the Wishon Cast club and the 560mc, and I just was more comfortable with the forged club- (This was before he told me which was which, so it wasn't a mental thing)- It also had a thinner top line, which gave me a bit of confidence. I am using a set of Mactec NVG2 Mids now, and they are all over the place as far as lofts go- no where near the specs on the web site, and because they are Cast, i can do nothing but grin and bear it for now. I am always amazed by the quickness of responses on this website- as i was typing this, I had 2 more replies. :) I have no issues paying 600 bucks for a set of irons, so long as I will be able to use them, and have them grow with my game. Plus just saying "Forged" sounds kind of bad ass...
-
Hey All... I troll the forums here alot, and buy stuff semi regularly. I went for a pro fitting recently, and was suggested to get a set of Wishon 560mc's. The problem is the cost was out of my price range, for a set of clubs that have no resale value in the case I am not happy with them one season in. My length and Lie are standard, my swing speed is about 85 MPH with my driver... What are some comparable clubs to this, OR does anyone know where these can be found reasonably affordable. I am pretty handy, and would probably have no issues with shaft changes if needed (I have built electric guitars, done motor swaps on cars, and have a few other semi geeky hobbies that require percision and patience). I was thinking of a used set of Mizuno's, as they seem to be the rage on here... I want a forged club, but need the forgivenses of a cavity back. (I shoot about 100 when I am striking how i should)- The Irons i use now are all over the place for angles, and the club fitter was amazed I was even shooting that with there variations- Components clubs are also an option if I can buy the parts- I wouldn't mind taking a stab at club building too. Thanks in advance. D

Top 10 Golfing No-Nos
dlo132 replied to Kingfisher's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Coloured Golf Balls Another item only ever likely to boost the confidence of opponents We always keep a sleeve of pinks on us, and if you don't make it past the ladies tee on a drive (Yeah, were a super bunch) you have to use the pink ball until you get a birdie, or someone else does the same. -
Does anyone have experience with either of these? I get there products at cost I found out (along with footjoy and cobra products). I need some wedges and hybrids to round out my rookie bag. Any suggestions? My wedges now are : PW is 44 deg. SW is 56 deg. What lofts do you recomend to fill the gaps reasonably well?
-
I was just looking at a set on here from a member... Creepy. I bought the 2 wedges for 50 bucks new... I should of known better!
-
Not to add another option, but the MAcgregor NVG2 Driver has gotten amazing reviews overall (That I have seen) and are dirt cheap on ebay... just another opion (The review on here says its pretty decent too)

First like to thank everyone in here who has read and answered my barrage of newb club questions. The input is greatly appreciated (and usually taken to heart) OK, So I got my semi shiny, new to me irons (NVG2 Mids 3-SW, no LW) and was wondering what would be best to drop in the bag next- here is what i have in total, and leads on what i can get reasonably priced (Used clubs in Calgary are NOT the norm, so one has to really keep an eye out) In the garage at the moment- Nikent 3dx 10.5 loft 460 driver (I leave this at home when i play as my slice with it is so bad it effects the earths rotation) Jazz Bearcat 3 wood (not impressed with this, but at 10 bucks new, It was hard to resist) Nike ignite 7 wood (Love this club) Macgregor NVG2 Mid irons set 3-SW (Very impressed so far, and in 1 round have noticed a big diff. overall in my short game) 55 and 60 Wilson RPM wedges (Hate them, and looking for replacements) Taylormade tour preferred irons- 1I-PW - all permanently placed far away from my golf bag for now... Taylormade Tour Preferred putter... so far it hasnt destroyrd my game I have a lead on 1h and 5h Heavenwood Hybids, and was thinking of replacing the 3 wood and maybe my 3 iron with them- Any other club suggestions/replacement recomendations? Thanks in advance as always!

Set Recommendation...starting out..
dlo132 replied to nutsnbolts's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sweet! Another rookie! I am in the same boat as you are mate, and here is what I have done so far (and it seems to have worked ok)- First and foremost ask questions in here- the guys know there stuff, so sniff around the forums a bit... As for clubs, I have tested out dozens of irons and hybrids... I took a few lessons first to get a decent swing (swinging good and hitting the ball sweetly with your decent swing are 2 diff. concepts, and the 2nd doesn't come until you have the first figured out!) I tried quite a few iron sets, and heres the skinny from my poor swinging at ball in simulator results... Macgregor NVG2's were the first pick, dirt cheap on ebay right now, as I squander trying to find a reg flex shaft set that can be mailed to Canada- (the shop only had stiff flex shafts and doesn't do custom ordering of Macgregor clubs) The Nike Slingshots were decent too, but $300 more for the set... The 3dx set felt ok, but not great (this could of been because the set was stiff flex, and that was all they had in stock) I did not like the Adams or Tour Edge clubs personally. From the 5 rounds I have played, don't worry about getting a driver yet- get a decent 3 wood on sale and use it--- your level of frustration will be reduced HUGE (I leave my driver at home for now and have actaully been playing rounds that are only modestly sucky, not totally obscene) I bought a new Jazz 3 wood for 10 bucks, and a Nike ignite 7 wood for $25... Try a few putters before you buy too--- It is your most used club, and getting one that feels right will save you a lot of frustration later... This is where I would probably splurge abit, but try out alot of em first--- thers more putters out there then - well something else that there is a lot of! 4 putting gets old fast. It may not sound important, but get regular flex shafts too. The first 3 wood i bought was a stiff flex (because I am a real man, right?) and after a poor couple rounds with it i bought a second with a regular flex and it was like night and day. Take all thsi with a grain of salt, but its what I found to be the most productive way of getting decent gear at a fairly cheap price... Swing lots of stuff, and buy what feels good. And check ebay before you pay retail! Good luck dude--- I just wish i lived somewhere the golfing season was longer then 5 months :) -
OK, so i went and tried a bunch of clubs at the local shop, and found the NVG2's to fit the best, but alas, only came with graphite shafts (Which i have been told to avoid on irons) The problem is the only sets on ebay (where they are selling for under 100 bones) start at a 6 iron... Is it easy to fill the gaps below that? I dont want to buy a partial set and be kicking myself later when i cant find a 4 or 5 to stick in the bag... And if you HAVE a set you want to sell send me a PM :)
-
Stores here in Calgary are limited in there stocks, but i have been intrigued by the Macgregor irons (and there ridiculously low prices on ebay)- what is the diff. between the NVG, the mid NVG, and the M685 irons? Research doesnt turn up much, but the NVG looks to be the better iron (Though my game BLOWS so comparisons are to be taken lightly). as always thanks in advance!
-
If u want to make abit of cash I will pay you a finders fee for a 3 and 5 in regular flex... so long as they arent too expensive...
-
Hey all-- i got a 7 wood Ignite this weekend by fluke, and wanted to get a 3 to try it out- does anyone know anywhere these are available? They were dirt cheap here new ($25) but i caught the end of the sale so there was only left handers and senior flex shafts left... OR know of a wood that hits similar to try out? Thanks in advance!
-
Hey all-- I am pretty new to golf, and was looking to get a cavity back to replace my 4th hand Taylor made irons i was given. I really like the look of the I10, and I have heard they are reasonably forgiving. I figure if i get a middle of the road club (not a players iron, not the raptures) they should last me quite awhile... Any opinionsÉ (I can get an almost new 5-PW for 3 hun canadian, and the lengths are the setup my online fitting says)... Thanks in advance for the tips.

How do you stop "over thinking" it?
dlo132 replied to slinkee's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had my first REAL lesson this weekend, and as a consistent over analyzer, my instructor told me to count as I swing. It takes all the focus off the little things and just forces a smooth back swing (count in your head if you blush easy) -back swing ends at one, ball contact made on 2. Helped me anyways, but I am a rookie, so take it all with a grain of salt.
