  1. He came there with the mindset of changing my iron swing before he even saw me. He immediately asked if i wanted to go to the range on arrival. I mentioned in that i said in the email i just wanted to learn how to putt better and maybe short chips. He seemed annoyed, watched me putt, showed me one thing and skipped chipping all together. Really weird guy. Like he knew what he wanted to show me before he even saw me swing. The main thing he wanted to show me was to turn my hips more like im pulling a lawnmower pull rope and to open my clubface during my backswing. I have lifelong knee injuries from college football. That rotation caused me pain. He didnt know what to do when i told him i was pain and he saw it was hurting me.
  2. I been golfing about 9 years now and occasionally get lessons when I feel i hit a plateau. I wanted lessons on putting and short chipping as that is the weakest part of my game. I found a lessons flyer from pro golfer my local simulator and shot him an email. I told him that I only wanted to work on putting and short chipping as that is what im trying to improve. He told me $160 per hour and i agreed. We meet up at the putting green and i told him again that im really focusing on improving my short game with putts and short chips. He seemed anxious doing so and we spent about 10 minutes putting where i hit maybe 10 balls. Immediately took me to the range and wanted to work on my irons. I can confidently say i am a great iron striker. I stink at everything except irons. He spent the entire session trying to get me to change my swing entirely. Being a 6'7" 315lb muscular guy, i dont have the flexibility or swing as others. He didnt accept that. Morale of the story, i completely wasted my money. Only thing i learned is to keep my head down a tad longer when putting and that more money doesnt equivalate to higher quality lessons.
  3. Smaller boxes to ship in. No grips or american labor to install the grip. Cost of material with the shaft. Easily could bring it down to a $399 level. Just seems like such a waste for people who are very content with their current shaft but would be interested in the new technologies in the head.
  4. My biggest pet peeve with new drivers is you are not able to buy them without a shaft. That could easily bring the price down from the ridiculously high mark. Its nearly impossible to justify new drivers. I'll always buy 2-3 year old models. Still rocking my M5 and have 0 plans on changing that in the near future.
  5. 410 yard par 4. Hit a 275 yard into a valley. Blind 135 shot from the rough. Right into the hole for an eagle!!
  6. After waking up early for work during the weekdays, Id rather sleep in on the weekends and play in the later mornings or early afternoons. Does get quite annoying with the slow pace of play .
  7. Too many trees on the sides and creek in the middle to justify driver. I'd ideally go 5i, 5i, 55, P, P, P, P.
  8. This past weekend i finally lost it on my 8 year golf partner. Its well know that he drastically lies. He cheats a ton but i never cared because i always still beat him. We played a pro course and he definitely scored 120+. Said he shot a 96. His scores came so predictable that we were accurately predicting what he would say he'd score on each hole before he tee'd off. On one par 5 in particular it took him 9 strokes to get on the green before 3 putting. Of couse he bogey'd it. Im probably never playing with him again .
  9. Ive used it and eventually gave it away. What i found to be much more effective and more convenient are heavy warm up rings that make the head heavier to warm up with. Im not sure why they work but they are amazing for the first tee or when you get cold from waiting on other golfers.
  10. Visiting my friends back home last week, i chose not to travel with clubs. I borrowed a set of TopFlite full set clubs. I was nervous since i am spoiled and have my clubs fit for me. I was SUPER impressed with the irons. Massive heads with a heavy swing weight. Very easy to hit. From using a 2k+ set built for me to using a $270 set, my score only increased by 7 strokes. The biggest killer was the driver and putter. If you know of a new golfer or need an extra set for somewhere you visit often but don't want to travel, topflite irons are definitely a good choice.

  11. There are definitely some courses cashing in on the popularity and overbooking causing terribly slow pace of play. Ive waited over 20 minutes at times between holes waiting to tee off. I know I’m the minority but I’d rather just not even play in those conditions and I will just leave mid round and never return to that course again.
  12. My best friend who has been my golf partner for 8 years is definitely up there. It’s WELL known through all our buddies he drastically lies on the scorecards. Some rounds by over 20 strokes. I’ve counted this guy shoot 9 on a par 5 and said he shot a birdie. We just accepted it after so many years and rather let him believe we think he’s a good golfer than damage our friendship.
  13. I recently did something similar. I live in 2 different cities and hate the hassle of traveling with clubs. I made a set of clubs D, 5, 7, 9, 50, 55, Putter for the city I live in less. I have not felt disadvantaged nor have I seen my scores drastically change. for most people it’s cheaper just buying a used set. Being a 6’7” individual, I need custom fit clubs which is why I chose to go this route.
  14. There are countless gimmicky golf products out there. I can confidently say this Tee improves my scores. I have been using this tee for 3 seasons now. Out of the hundreds of balls hit off them, not one broke. How this tee gives me and advantage is consistent tee height. With the adjustable ring, I have the exact tee height I want every time. When I see my ball strikes are a tad high or low on the face, I can easily adjust it so I’m hitting the middle again. I also use the ring as a ball marker on the green. I am not endorsed nor do I know anyone at yatta. No golf company wants to sponsor an overweight mid handicapper. I can confidently say that through the years, every single piece of equipment I own will be replaced. I will never change the tee I use.
  15. 60, 55, 50 is my wedge set. I had the same issue. I just had my 54 bent to 55 and now boom, good to go a cool idea that I did was getting 3 different colored clubs. I use SM8’s. They are chrome, grey, and black. It’s handy when you reach for a club you club look for the color. There’s no need to read small print on a dirt covered wedge.
  16. Here in Colorado, our greens are brown and I can’t remember it raining for over 8 weeks. Just snow. In the dessert or in the swamp, golf is always enjoyable
  17. I use an Odyssey stroke lab Toe Up putter. I love this putter and have been using it for maybe 2 seasons now. I tend to stand more over the ball when I putt and unfortunately the standard lie angle makes the heel elevated if I do so. I took it to Dick’s to get a Superstroke grip on it so the swing weight would be more adjustable and I wanted to get it bent 2 degrees upright so it’s flat when I putt. The employee told me the hosel was too thin and it would snap. Was he right or should I take it elsewhere? If he was correct, would it be beneficial to replace it with another center shaft putter than can be adjusted?
  18. It is my unpopular belief that the majority of golfers do not practice enough and when they do practice, they are entirely too focused on one club (the driver). I feel most comfortable hitting the range two times for every one round that I play. My favorite way to practice is to use the range time to focus on one or two parts of your swing you're looking to improve for the first 80% of your shots (ball placement, follow through, grip, ect.) Then with the last 20% you simulate a golf round or focus on targets. Going to the range and blasting 90 balls is not the most efficient way to improve. What are some of the strategies and ways you all practice?
  19. After a great deal of range time, i found out my grip was entirely too strong which caused my face to be closed at impact. Now im hey diddle diddle right down the middle. Its an exciting year so far. Scored my best 9 hole ever this week (+3)
  20. I am a right handed player. Starting this new season I have no idea what I am doing wrong. My driver and long irons are going straight left off the tee. I am not talking about a hook or draw. Dead straight perfect flight to the left. I have tried following through with my hands more. I have tried opening up the face. With a 300 yard drive I am hitting about 75 yards off my target.
  21. So admittedly I'm not a great golfer and i make multiple mistakes per round. Yesterday i was playing my first round of 2022 at a cheap local course. I have a boarderline draw/hook and off the tee, i ended up less than 3 yards into the next hole's fairway. Had no idea this guy was behind the trees and i almost hit him. Ive been hit with balls before. It happens. If you're at an amatuer course, expect amatuer golf. Walking up dude blitzes from the tree line and throws my ball at me like he was Randy Johnson. I apologized and said i suck at golf and did not see him there. He continued to yell and make a scene which im used to as im the beta in my relationship so i just continued to apologize. Never seen such a thing on a course.
  22. I play vokey SM8 wedges and Wilson C300 forged irons. Love my clubs and wouldn't change a thing about them. I hit alot of balls. Probably about 200 range balls and 170 play balls per week. I sharpen my grooves every 8 weeks but I imagine the excessive amount of hard range balls will wear the clubs out over time. When is it time to get new clubs?
  23. I think you nailed it with this it being a part of golf's future. I just can't see courses scaling as fast as the industry is, so something needs to supplement it. I personally am already calling 2 weeks ahead of time to book tee times. I'm sure others are having this issue.
  24. There has never been a higher demand for Golf than there is now. With the current economy, land real estate prices are through the roof making it nearly impossible for someone to open a new course. TopGolf or places similar are smarter investments as they do not require a great amount of land, quicker to build, requires less maintenance, more profitable, less affected by weather/seasons, and have a greater target audience. While golf on courses is obviously more enjoyable to players, we can see that courses are closing faster than new ones opening. Where do you see golf heading to in the future? How can the industry keep up with the demand?
  25. I am a mid handi-capper. I am a terrific punch shotter, good putter and iron player, and comfortable with my drives. The only thing limiting my scores from lowering is my chipping. I started moving the ball towards the front of my stance while adding weight on my front foot and saw improvement. The last few rounds I have been experimenting with keeping my arms locked like a putting motion. My biggest struggle is 5-30 yards. I like to do medium chips with a 55 degree and short ones with a PW. Any suggestions on how to work on this part of my game? Is locking arms a good technique to use? Any drills, tools, or books you would suggest?
