  1. The thing I like about Marta Silva, is that she is so relaxed and doesn't put too much pressure on herself. She was like,"I was playing bad, so I told myself its time to play good." She says she doesn't even plan to play pro after high school, which she could. She has her priorities straight by having her career after college, and then playing golf for the most part.
  2. B-330 and B-330s are selling for $30 at most academy's and sports authorities.
  3. Check used sections at a golfsmith or golfgalaxy.
  4. The only problem I have with golf is when me and my cousins go out to the course, and some of the 'regulars' give us dirty looks as if we don't belong there. Granted my cousin does dress a little goofy with the greg norman hat and loose hawaiin print shirt, even though he is still in the dress code. The one bad part for me about golf also, is how I setup on the first tee in front of the clubhouse, and I can feel everybody (regulars) sitting at the clubhouse silently judging me. And I always hit a nervous first shot almost every round, so it doesn't really help me out much...but by the time i get to the 3rd hole I am warmed up and I start playing well. I just need to learn how to keep my nerves under control on the first hole that's all.
  5. Finished out my round the other day with par, par, par, birdie, birdie.
  6. My future brother-in-law, bought won at a local Golfsmith, when we were just there to get new golf shoes. It is pretty nifty, holds up to 10 courses at a time, and the program it comes with has like a playlist type setup so you can download courses, then remove or add other ones to fit your 10 course maximum.
  7. I would go wedge, then either iGolf or lessons depending on how much you think you need lessons. My soon to be brother-in-law just got the iGolf and it is pretty nifty, has the basics like to front cent and back of greens, good if you are trying to distance your clubs. Also really small and compact looks like a pager kind of.
  8. Breakfast usually consists of either some Eggo blueberry waffles with Aunt Jemima syrup and a glass of OJ or if I'm in a hurry some breakfast burritos from Mickyd's At the turn it's usually a turkey and ham sammich, with a cold gatorade and maybe some chips. Drink about 5 bottles of water/gatorade on the course.
  9. Probably Prestigio Majesty irons, driver, and fairway wood...all that totalling about $8,000 maybe. But realistically, probably some AP1's or Cleveland CG red.
  10. I love my Nike CCi irons, I have played about 6 rounds with them and my scores have dropped about 5-6 strokes, but thats prabably because I learned how to hit the ball properly...lol, I also have the SQ sumo (price just dropped to $199). I love my irons, and my driver, Nike makes good products I think it's just the fact that they aren't just purely a golf company that turns some golfers away from their products despite the fact that they are good.
  11. I wish I would of known that I was gonna get good at golf this summer...I can't get on the team now because I would have to drop one of my classes I have for this year to get in the golf class, which is basically just a study hall in the gym, practices are after school...I might go out senior year but I would have to play varsity against some of the better players in the district.
  12. Shot my second lowest score of the year, 82, this coming at the same course where i shot 81 last week. I had a pretty solid day, only one birdie though. I didn't double and bogey that much today either, plus no triples. I actually only doubled the first hole, and after that it was singles and pars. Still getting used to my clubs though, could not hit my driver to save my life though. So i started playing my brother-in-law's Regular Burner, and I smashed a 290 drive withing 50 yards of the green. I might have to trade in my SQ, for one. But my best shot came on the par 5 17th, I hit my 3rd shot out of the green side bunker to within 4 ft for an easy putt for birdie.
  13. My little portable cooler, that keeps my drinks cold on ice while I play a round. It's always nice after a birde to come back to a cart with an ice cold gatorade or w.e....
  14. Houston is kinda in the southeast...
  15. Shot my best round of golf today with my sister and her fiance out at their local course. I shot an 81, 42 on the front and 39 on the back. This was by far my best round of golf ever. My new clubs (Nike CCi and Sumo 2 5000) played right into my game, after a week on tinkering with them on the range. Anywhere 100 yds and in, I nailed the green with my pitching wedge. Had 2 birdies, and 7 pars. I am still learning the game and my new clubs, but I had a solid outing on a mild humid day in the beginning, and blistering hot Texas sunshine at the end. Finished off the 18 strong though with a putt from the fringe for birdie.
  16. I use an old dunlop surpass 5 wood, like from 2000 or 1999. still works for me so i dont bother buying a new wood.
  17. Well I started playing some golf back when I was ten, and took a few lessons at a local course. I mainly started because my dad was big into golf. But after that summer I didn't really play much golf. It was about 2 summers ago when my cousins in louisiana got big into golf and so did I when I would visit them. Playing almost everyday or at the range. $15 green fee at Barksdale Airforce base by Shreveport (not a bad course either). Finally I am able to go out on my own time and consistently shoot in the 80s.
  18. I believe that Anna Rawson should be #1, but Natalie Gulbis is still a good #1
  19. Maybe try borrowing a set of older used blades from a course or a local store, and see how they work out for you on the range.
