  1. It could be many things that are causing you to not take a divot - Spinning your hips to quick on the downswing making you pop out of the shot - starting the downswing with your shoulders which will make you come over the top and flip your clubhead through impact, also known as casting - trying to help the ball in the air will result in a non downward strike on the ball which produces a picked shot
  2. Im the same, my putter grip is very soft and thin, I like to feel like my hands have full control of the putter then I can grip it very lightly and do a smooth stoke
  3. Hi I have just turned 18 last month and I am nearly at my first full year at golf since tain it seriously ( played my frst comp june last when I joined my club) I feel like I have improved alot, especially in my mental game and my ball striking, putting and orther aspects of short game still need some improving At the moment I'm hitting my driver and irons as good as ever, I average over 285+ with my drives and my irons are going along way aswell, when I shoot 36pts off my current handicap 11.5 (12) I always walk off very disappointed because I know im capable of alot better, I don't tend to play my best golf in competition days but im getting better, anyway here is my scores over the last year, please comment on what you think and tell me if you see any inconsistant patterns that I could maybe improve upon, thank for your time My handicap was 18 when i started last june

  5. Hey guys I found one of my old dvds with great clips of tiger in his young pro days and also his amateur days, I will be uploading all them to youtube come the next few days, here is the first one I uploaded which shows tigers start as a pro. Tiger seemed so much more humble and relaxed back then.

  7. hey im 16 years old and i am inspiring to be a pro golfer some day and my swing at the moment is very good and i am shooting very low scores lately. Played to -1 only 2 weeks ago and +2 yesterday. I am one of those golfers that had to work really hard to get where i am right now. Only this time last year i was playing off 28 and it was only then i decided this is what i want to do and this is what i want to be good at and earn a living out of it. I have practising nearly every day over the last year and it just shows you can do anything you put your mind to which i have done. Okay anyway, this topic is about average distance of your golf clubs you hit. I am a bit skeptical about how far i hit especially with my irons. I am not sure if im hitting them far enough. I hit my 7 iron around 150, 6 iron 160 5 iron 170 and 4 iron 180 and my 3 wood about 190. Driver about 280 but thats fine for me. I notice when i watch the pros on tele some can hit there 6 irons 200 yards and i just dont now how they are doing this because i have a very good swing( very similar to anthonys kims) and i know i am getting good club head speed. One thing my dad said the pros may be doing is something called lag which is like you get your hands very far ahead of the ball on impact and and you catch the ball with a delofted club face. I have been trying this in the range lately and all i do is slice the ball whenever i try to make lag. Any tips? Or should i just not worry about this?
  8. hitting it in the water or going ob is what get my scores very high
  9. You need to tee the ball up inside your left foot because the driver must be caught on the upswing
  10. I like having a really slow player because that means i get to play slow which is what i actually like because i like to take as much time as possible on my shots without anoying the gang
  11. Your swing is very much like mine.
  12. We never get snow over here but hopefully i will still be playing golf as long as it doesnt rain, i don't mind the cold as long as im able to play its fine.
  13. Sup man welcome to the forums!
  14. Yes i am going to check out that website and hopefully i will get someone to anylise my swing and your probably right about filming yourself hitting a ball but im pretty sure i do the same swing on the ball although i probably swing more faster on the ball than i do in this video. Answering kfowler's question i am usually very good at hitting my low irons and my favourite low iron is my 4 iron which i can hit just under 200 off the fairway which is not bad and the way i know that i have hit a good shot is that if i hit say a 6 iron and if i hear a serge off the ball then i know that i caught it real crisp and got my hips in to the shot. As for my woods i am not as good at hitting them as my irons as i sometimes do an iron swing with my 5 wood off the fairway and sometimes can result in a poor impact and not much distance. I just have to remember myself that i have to catch the woods on the upswing and keep the ball on the left of my stance. As for getting lessons i have never got one in my life. My only ever coach was my dad and he still is. Although he is not a very good player he can spot faults in my swings and has read nearly all david leadbetters books so i got all my knowlodge from him and also watching the pros on tele has helped my understand the swing plane that i should be on.
  15. okay so lately i have been really getting in to golf (started around 4 months ago) im 14 years old and i have just joined a top golf club in my local area and i have played it 3 times since i joined it last week and and i shot +11 on the first round +10 on the second and +13 on the last day. I would be playing alot better only i am not hitting my driver to well but im sure i will get used to it i have an R7 taylormade 8.5 degree loft driver. I usually strike my irons very well. My average distance with my 7 iron is 150yards and 6 iron 160 yards and so forth and when i hit a good driver shot it can go 250yards. Okay so anyway i kinda just came here to get my swing checked by you people to make sure im not doing anything wrong so i shot a video of myself outside my back garden taking a few iron swings so please tell my if i look off plane or if you spot any orther problems please tell my. i am a golfer with big ambitions and i am looking to get my handicap down very low within the year. My dad says i have the potential to do it Cheers!!
  16. http://www.castleknockgolfclub.ie/go...lish/index.php i am currently a member here and its one of the best coarses i have ever played on
  17. If you have to correct your hands on the down swing then you must not be doing the correct swing. If you are doing a correct swing it should come naturally
  18. I could only view 1 of the videos and by the looks of things you are swinging extreamly flat which will result in inconsistant shots. Try a more upright swing for your irons and don't let your hands roll backwards Here is an example of a swing you should be working on lRxfFYl2JmI
  19. Search youtube. There is hundreds of videos about how to cure your slice, just find the one that has your problem
  20. I mainly use my irons on the range because i hate hitting my driver off those dang rubber tees and im not allowed tee up on grass
