You're taking free drops from rocks and roots while establishing a .09 handicap???

With all due respect,... that's ridiculous what you just said,... No way Tiger was the reason why we lost all those in a row, the same as it wasn't all Tiger fault when we won when he was on the team,... It's a 12 man team,... Tiger can't make you or break you,... Tiger is the best player in the world, no golf team anywhere in the world would reject him as a member,... not a chance,...

USA wins on Furyks conceded par putt,... Great golf,... watched every stroke,... Your thoughts,...

Drawing of the situation attached Please tell then what does it mean when the rules say "take full relief,... if he takes relief from the post and is still on the path, he didn't take full relief right? have a look at this attachment,... (I hope I did it right) it's a crude drawing of the siuation,...

I find it amazing that to suggest that you play the game properly would start an argument. What do you mean by this,...? What argument did I start,...?

How do you play a lost ball,...?
-
the ball was not playable,.... imagine you're standing there addressing the ball (righthand golfer) your feet are on the path, and a post is next to the ball,...... no way to hit this ball,... you need to take relief,.... I don't think you can take relief and still keep your feet on the path,... you can choose to hit the ball with your feet on the path if it already lies there,... but you can't move it to a place like that when taking a free drop, you need to take full relief,... which is what you must do in this situation,,,,, I'm repeating myself,...
-
Sorry Powerfade, I don't think that's right,... maybe you can't visualize the situation,... in my eye's his nearest point of relief was away from the cart path and the post, it put him in a clear spot with a clear swing and no feet on the path, no post in the way, but the tree's came into play there,.... he didn't like that so he wanted to take the relief by stepping backwards one step and drop the ball in between the path and the post but leaving his feet on the path,... he then wanted to hit it from there, he thought he had the choice of hitting it with his feet on the cart path, but I say no, taking relief from the post means taking full relief,... if you put the ball where you again get relief then you didn't take full relief,... if I knew how to add an attachment to this site I'd draw you a picture,... thanks for the note,... heyscuba

I'd say a skim on the face is a hit,... that's awesome, I'd wear that like a badge of honor,...

I'd try to identify the source of the slow play and make some suttle suggestions,... there are a lot of little things you can do to speed up play,... when my group gets behind I'll try to watch and make sure everyones doing things to incourage fast play like parking the cart or putting your bag on the right side or the green nearest the next tee box for a quick getaway,... taking a few clubs with you when you go out looking for a ball,.. everyone watch everyone's ball flight to assure you can helep find the balls,... know when it's your turn,... be ready,... here's one people rarely do,... after a shot instead of going to your bag to put away your clubs just jump in the cart and take off clubs in hand,... put them away at the next stop when either your playing oartner or you are going back to the bag,... so many people spend a lot of time digging in and around their bags,... another thing is have your clubs in order in your bag,... short clubs in the front compartment, middle irons in the middle, long irons in th back compartment, my woods on the side compartment (that's my bag set up anyway) I played with a guy the other day he could never find any of his clubs,.... they were all over the place,... I organized his bag when he was in the John,...

Thanks, I agree,... Nearest point is not always the best point,...

yeah, read the book,... "Bringing down the house,..." and saw 21,... I don't play much Black Jack though,... but next time you sink a long putt, yell out,... "winner, winner,... chicken dinner,..." it's a fun line,...

he made it too,... and glared at the crowd,...

the original question was (or was supposed to be) could he take relief from the post and the path (the post was in the way of him hitting the ball but he would have been on the path as well) and put the ball in a spot where he is standing on the cart path to hit his next shot,... ? I say no because taking relief means taking full relief and if he puts it in a place where he is standing on a cart path the he didn't take full relief,,... right? there was room for him to put it in a place where neither the path or the post would be in play, but he didn't like that spot, (tree's in front of him) he liked it where his feet were on the path and no tree's in front of him,...

As I agree with you that it takes 2 to fight, but it only takes one to start one,... I'll delete that whole part,... (I do listen)

Phil and Kim celebrated way to early,... they lost their focus,...

My name is John Linneman, I'm 49, divorced, from St. Louis, Missouri. I play often and shoot in the mid 80's. I'm a flight attendant, I move the US troop to and from the war in Iraq and all over the world. I didn't introduce myself when I started on this site. I don't any other forums and I don't blog or any of that stuff, so if I do something wrong please let me know. Something already went a little off course for me here on this site. I wrote a thread about something or another and some person I guess didn't agree with my opinion and for what ever reason instead of sticking to the topic first he ripped into me first about his different opinion (which is fine) but, then he got very personal with his attack on me. He was totally off the track of the conversation and said some things about me that didn't sit well with me so I took him on in a little battle of words. He felt I was boasting because I wrote down a yardage I hit a certain club on a certain shot, I put this info in because it was part of the conversation. I didn't bother to include all the circumstances that came with it. (down hill, down wind, front pin,...) My bad for not just letting it go, but I didn't know how to sit back and let this guy bad mouth me so I shouted back at him in an attempt to defend myself. A few others joined in on it, it got ugly, the thread was shut down. I should've learned from my minimal expirence on YouTube that people love to hate other people on the inter-net, they love to sit in their dark rooms, keyboard in front of them and start fights with people they don't even know and when they don't even know the entire situation of which they are arguing. Haters are haters,.... I'm glad I'm not one of them. My nic name is Scuba (it's a long story) I go by Heyscuba on this site. Peace to all. scuba

the way I started to look at situations like your is,... If I'm playing bad, that's one bad thing about that day,... If I'm then a jerk (even if it's just to myself) or a mad, pissed off dude well now I got 2 bad things going on that day,... So, don't double up on bad stuff in your day,.. Try to have fun with it,... I did after a long strech of bad golf,... Now I play better and it's fun too,... You will get in your opponents head too,... "Why's he so happy,... he's palying like crap,..." Unless golf is your job and you're about to lose your playing priviledges, I just don't see the reason to let it get you down so much,...

Anyone with any suggestions?[/QUOTE] Zanax ? Just kidding,... Try Fuzzy's plan,... whistle while you play,... (well while your walking at least) as if your just taking a walk in the park,... expect to miss most of your putts. (cause you will anyway, so do the pro's) then when you make one it's like a gift,... Don't let this great game for any reason get you down,... it's just to much fun, and should be. Last year during a fairly good round I got to a par 3 on the back 9, I was about 3 strokes up on my buddy who I haven't beaten in a while and I hit 3 balls in a row O.B. (I was playing a draw that wasn't drawing) I casually tee'd up my next shot (# 7 from the tee ) and put it on and 2 putted for a 9, I looked at my buddy and said,... "it's a beautiful day out here,..." and we went on,... My friend who beat me that day has 2 handicapped children at home,... I'll be darned if I let a thing like golf get me upset anymore.

I'm just throwing out thoughts here, I don't play in any real tournements. I don't know how strict they will be or how much you know about the rules,... but I'd say here's few you might not think of,... Don't touch the green when indicating an intended line of a putt or break,... Don't give a putt or don't take one if someone trys to give you one. (unless it's match play) Don't ask what club someone hit. Don't walk in anyone's line. (not a penalty, but you'll here about it) Watch the ball all the way, especially when it's going near trouble so you can mark the point of entry into a hazard. If you don't know ask, ask, ask,...... scuba

problem was,... I was the only guy on the green, as I was walking up to mark my ball I realized I was getting the dirty look from my friend who was 20 feet off the green, he was looking at his line and back at me like I just stepped on his new Puppy,... (I wasn't near the cup) then he chipped it way past where I walked,... but sure enough, he complained, and this is a dude who fluffs every lie, everytime,...
-
Point taken,....... I didn't start it,... but I''ll finish by saying,... "nuff said,..."

why are conference championships so important when some conferences don't even play them,...? (OSU)
-
is it considered stepping someone's line if they are not on the green yet and they are chipping not even puttting,...? I know it common golf courtesy to not step in someone's line but I never really got why people get so upset over it, because I figure the last foursome was probably tramping all over the green, surely they must have stepped in someones line along the way,... whats the difference,...?
