  1. Congrats!!! well done! maybe I'll see that one of these days, though I ain't holding my breath.
  2. Apparently I was wrong...make that about 170.
  3. Shot terribly. I really blew it with my pitching/chipping today. However, what threw me off nearly as much, and kept me in shock, was nearly every time I grabbed an iron I was hitting them about 15-25 yards longer than I've EVER hit them before, just out of the blue. Has this happened to anyone else here before? Now I'm afraid to grab a club I'd normally have grabbed before for fear of "flying" the green, and I'm just as afraid to grab what I probably should been grabbing today for fear of hitting them short, since I've never hit them as far before, as I did today...ARGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Thanks
  4. somewhere around 150 -160
  5. I'd take a 4hybrid, 7iron, and a 51 degree approach wedge.
  6. 3 iron or 5 wood. Keep the one you hit the better of the two. If you hit them both equally well, then ditch the one that creates the bigger gap between the 3 wood and the 4 hybrid.
  7. I haven't played North Creek yet. I live up on the Northeast side of town in Bartlett, and the farthest out I've gone to golf so far is T.O. Fuller. I'm normally at Davy Crockett or Quail Ridge ($21/cheap, $45/close to home) or Fox Meadows ($35/close to work) or Audubon ($35/close to friends).
  8. Was having a helluva problem with my driving. I went from a terrible slice when I first started 2 years ago, to developing a wicked pull hook over the past 6 months or so. Yesterday I tried something different on the last 9 holes I played. I went from a strong grip to a neutral grip on the driver, and really loosened up how tight I was holding the grip. WOW! 6 of the 7 drives went *mostly* straight, ending up on fairways or just off the edge into light rough, and they went farther as well. I'm guessing I was hitting about 240 on average, which for me is pretty darned good, and I ended up shooting the best score I've ever shot at this course. 95 at Davy Crockett ain't bad for me. Later!
  9. Best day is typically Saturday, followed by Sunday mornings, then any day during the week that I'm lucky enough to be able to get out of the office a little early, typically very short notice on that happening though. Take care!
  10. Every once in a long while I can break free during the week, though Fridays would be the least likely day I could break free. During the week, when I can get out of the office a little early I typically head over to Fox Meadows as it's substantially closer to where I work.
  11. I'm trying to find more people in my area to golf with. Most of my friends are great for a casual round about once every 2 to 3 months, but I like to go out every weekend I can get and really HATE golfing solo. I'm planning on going out to Davy Crockett this Saturday morning, anyone here interested? Difficult course, fairways are okay, greens aren't too terrible and a helluva lot better than they were earlier this year, and it's only $21 for the first round, and $12 for the second if you want to try to get in 36 holes.
  12. I'm almost in full agreement with Chris...I occasionally golf with some friends who are typically only a little worse at the game than I am, and I'm pretty bad. Our rules, to help speed up play and not piss off the guys behind us are as follows. Hit a provisional when in doubt. Can't find your ball in about 2 minutes, drop, take a stroke, and go! Maximum stroke count is double par. Get to that point, pick it up and go! If one of these guys beat me under these rules, hell yeah, give me some ribbing and make a big deal out of it whether I was having a horrible day, they were having a great day, or both, because it *likely* means they're improving, however slight it might be! I'd rather take a lot of guff from friends and acquaintances for having a terrible day, than play by USGA rules in a competition against strangers or even acquaintances who are handicap sand-baggers.
  13. Based on this article, http://www.usatoday.com/money/genera...f-cheating.htm , I'd have to say that people cheat because the high muckety muck, high-rollers cheat, and they're rollin' in the dough; it hasn't hurt them any.
  14. Well, after a few months of play with them, I'm EXTREMELY satisfied. I'm still not shooting any better than the low 90's now, but I haven't had a lot of opportunity to get out and practice or even play this year...bad year for golf for me. I just swapped out the 4 iron for the 4 hybrid, since I can't seem to hit the iron worth a damn but I can hit the 3 hybrid okay (most of the time). Anyway, thanks for all the feedback from everyone here, and again, I HIGHLY recommend GigaGolf clubs. Later!
  15. My full set was about $400 new.
  16. Report: Played my first round with them this past week. They looked good and they felt good. The best I had ever done before was a 99 on 18 holes, and I've only done that three times. The first round with these clubs, I shot a 94 on a course where my prior best was 100 even. Now, was it the clubs or did I just swing better than I normally do? I honestly don't know. But the clubs didn't hurt my playing so at this point I'm very happy with what I got and what I paid for them? Take care,
  17. Wow! I really have no idea. I did get an eagle on a 477 yard par 5. Driver was straight and long, then a 4 iron to the green, so I'm going to guess about 275 yards as my longest (and straightest).
  18. What would make a club "comparable" to them, and what about these clubs makes them NOT "comparable"? Do you know something specific about the materials or craftsmanship of these clubs that should keep people from buying them? I know next to nothing about metallurgy, clubhead design, shafts or grips, so I don't really have an opinion on the clubs...yet. Other than, of course, I was able to get 13 of them for a price of between 1/3 - 1/2 what I'd have paid for "branded" clubs. Thanks,
  19. Yep. The best I could do over there was about $900 for all 13 clubs in average condition. Almost 3 times higher cost. Thanks,
  20. That's about what I was finding...by the time I added the F-Ti driver, the 3 wood, the 3 hybrid, and the other 3 wedges I was way over twice the cost of the 4-pw. I couldn't find all 13 clubs used at anywhere near the price for these. Thanks though,
  21. Okay...I bought them. 13 clubs (Driver through Lob) for $400. They're supposed to be comparable to the Callaway x20's and the F-ti. I'll have them at least until April when I need to decide to send them back for a refund or keep them. If I end up sending them back, does anyone here know if I can get the same type of set up used from Callaway for about the same price? Thanks,
  22. I'm a cold weather wimp. Without a wind I'll golf between the mid 50's to the mid 60's on the cool side. On the hot side I don't have a limit.
  23. That's awesome!! Congratulations. I know that had to feel goooooood. I just scored my 2nd eagle ever last week. Let's have a competition. I bet I'll get my 3rd eagle before you get your 3rd hole in one.
  24. About to buy a complete set of clubs from gigagolf; their GX920 line (3w, 3h, 4-lw) and their GX squared Ti. Anyone care to provide some much needed input before I drop the $334.30? Thanks,
  25. 3i and 5w replaced with a 3h and lw.
