  2. 70.5/133 - 6401 yards 37/38 - 75 First round I played in 2 weeks and it showed off the tee. Couldn't hit a fairway with driver to save my life today. My wedge play around the greens were the best I have played this year, including a hole out on the par 4 6th for birdie. I really only hit 1 bad iron shot all day but the wind was swirling every-which direction and pushed some off line here and there. I could of easily shot par or better today if I could of found the fairway more often. Fairways - 7/14 GIR - 10/18 Putts - 28
  3. I don't have one to be honest. I pick my spot to start the ball and swing. When I start thinking "Make sure I do this or that", that is when I miss hit shots.
  4. Since I updated my bag my distances have changed. My iron distances have gone back to what they were after putting the Mp68's in my bag. Driver - 280 3 Wood - 260 2 Utility - 230(Can push it to 250ish off the tee) 3 iron - 210 4 iron - 200 5 iron -190 6 iron - 180 7 iron - 170 8 iron - 155 9 iron - 140 PW - 125 50° - 115 56° - 100 60° - 85 I can add push each club 5 extra yards but these are my perfect distances for each. I don't know why the distances are 15 yards apart from 8 iron down but it seems to work out for me. Although, from 8 iron down it's a little easier to control it if I do have to add a little extra power to the shot.
  5. I was carrying a 3 hybrid but went back to a 3 iron. I do carry an 18° Apex Utility iron, I don't know if that's classified as a hybrid or not.
  6. Hoping Rose can hold everyone off and get the win this week. Over the last few weeks he has grown on me and is becoming one of my favorite players. He plays with a ton of confidence and has that swagger about himself. If he keeps playing like he has, he might be one of the favorites heading into Chambers Bay.
  7. Par 72 - 6,528 yards - 71.7/131 40/43 - 83 The front nine was probably the most unlucky I have been in along time. I had 2 birdie putts on the par 5's do just about a 360 around the cup and pop out. I hit a sprinkler head in the middle of the fairway and had my ball take a super bounce into a bunker. On the 4th and 7th hole I landed in a divot mark. I was p[laying with my dad and he was having a grand old time at my expense. The back nine I forgot how to play golf apparently and went 6 over thru the first 4 holes. I was able to play the last 5 in one over to limp in with a 43. It definitely wasn't the most enjoyable round I've had. If it wasn't for my wedge game, this round could of been alot worse. That was definitely the only bright spot of the round. Fairways - 7/14 GIR - 8/18 Putts - 33
  8. Today I had a hole of the week. Par 5 16th, 530 yard slight dog leg right. I decided to go big or go home at this point and was glad I did. I couldn't hit it any better, 320 dead straight over the corner tree line. I was in between clubs on my 2nd and was feeling pretty pumped so I decided to hit a 4 instead of 3 iron. I flushed it onto the front of the green 15 feet from the pin. Since I couldn't make a putt to save my life I missed the eagle putt lol
  9. Par 71 - 6,656 yards - 70.2/127 41/39 - 80 Birdies - 1 Pars - 9 Bogeys - 6 Double's - 2 Followed up one of my best rounds ever with a terribly inconstant one. On the front I was able to hit fairways but my irons were lackluster. On the back my irons were coming around but my driver became erratic. My putting was off all day, I don't think I made a putt all round. My GIR this round were a little inflated due to me being just off the green on 3/4 par 5's in 2 and reaching the par 5 16th in 2. It's funny how you can shoot one of your best rounds ever and the next be so inconsistent. Gotta love this game lol Fairways - 8/14 GIR - 10/18 (Hit more greens than Tiger today ) Putts - 37
  10. If you are confident with long irons go and try the Callaway Apex Utility. I bought the 18 degree which is like a 2 iron and hit it off the tee if I'm not using my driver on a particular hole. With your swing speed you could hit it off the deck and get it in the air relatively easy as well.
  11. Par 71 - 6,248 yards - 68.7/123 37/36 - 73 My second best round ever and only 1 shot from my previous best of 72 at the same course ironically. It is a shorter course than what I'm use to but it just suits my eye well and I play great every time. Pars - 12 Birdies - 2 Bogeys - 4 Fairways - 8/14 GIRs - 12/18 Putts - 32 I was striking the ball really well all day with the exception of a few shots. I was -1 through the first 7 but finished with back-to-back bogeys on 8 and 9 for +1 on the front. That would of been the the first time I was under par for 9 holes but I choked the last 2 holes, I've been even for 9 a few times. I bought the Callaway Apex UT 18° driving iron before the round and boy was I happy I did. The club is a beast off the tee and if you can hit your long irons well, it is great for hitting those long par 5's if you don't need to land it softly. If you aren't a hybrid guy you should give it a try. I probably could of had my first round under par if it wasn't for the suspect green conditions. I had a few putts bounce off-line that really had a chance to go in. I will get that round of under par soon if I play the way I did today.
  12. Most likely more of the Crown Plaza because it's on later.
  13. 39/39 - 78 (70.4-130) Finally hit the ball like I use to but I couldn't make a putt to save my life.... Fairways - 8/14 GIR - 12/18 Putts - 37 Sand Saves - 0/2 It was my first round with my new Cobra Bio Cell+ driver and it took me 3 holes to get a feel for it but when I did, it made me so happy I bought it.
  14. You could give the Nike Pro Combo's a try since you are unsure about buying a full blade set. 3-6 irons would be a cavity back and 7-PW would be your true bladed irons. http://www.amazon.com/Nike-VR-Forged-Pro-Combo/dp/B00HUEXPEW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid;=1431380321&sr;=8-1&keywords;=nike+pro+combo You could get older models(2013 or so) Taylormade MC's, Titleist CB/AP2, Mizuno JPX Pro's/any MP models, Callaway X Forged, etc. You have alot of options. This is the way I have gone with my last 2 iron sets. I can't go and spend $900 on the newest irons myself but I have found there isn't much difference in the newer blades or forged cavity back irons compared to the previous models. I bought a used set of Mizuno Mp68 irons which looked like the previous owner rarely used for $300 at Golfsmith. So you can definitely find some good "value buys" with the older model clubs.
  15. Shot a 39/45-84 today. Decided to test myself and play the tips (7,146 yards) I played well on the front which is normally the opposite for me. Off the tee I was all over the place with the driver but I was able to hit some good iron shots to save some strokes. Playing from the tips I was able to get some work with my long irons and I hit them rather well including my shot of the day with a hybrid. The wind was howling today and on the longest par 4 (457 yards), I hit a solid 3 wood that just died in the wind but landed in the middle of the fairway. Hit my hybrid from 215 dead into the wind to 10 feet and of course I missed the birdie putt Fairways : 8/14 (Hit 2 fairways with the driver) GIR: 8/18 Putts: 33 Iron play is improving with each round, which use to be my strength. The course I played at had a 10 round for $200 package which I took advantage of. I can also play another course which isn't as good but it's a hell of a deal.
