No worries. I was telling what I know to be the truth. Blades are fantastic when you strike the sweet spot but why penalize yourself when you do not? That was my arguement. I apologize for the posts. I actually do know what I am talking about but I am no longer going to share it with you guys. Not because I am offended but because you refuse to see any merit in any statement not made by television comercials, golf channel & the announcers during the tournament. Enjoy yourselves.

The PGA Manual of Golf is the perfect book for a beginning golfer. It has a little history, etiquette & instruction all in one book. I feel that etiquette is the first thing a new golfer should learn.

If he does not miss the sweet spot then why did he leave his 5 iron short on 16 sunday? That is a miss-hit. Even the great Ben Hogan said he only hit two perfect shots a round. I am through with this. I am sorry you guys are unwilling to learn anything. There are many things that are false in this industry. Us poor americans believe too many things that are said on TV. Ask a pro how many times he actually hits it right on that needle tip called a sweet spot. You will be surprised.

Ok guys your point is well taken. My handicap is high because we have a 7 month winter here. That is a long time to lose one's swing. Also you do not have to be great at something to teach it. "those who can do, those who can't teach" ever heard that? I guarantee everyone of you would bring your average score down by playing a more forgiving club. Even Tiger Woods miss-hits the ball 2 of 10 times. Why put the pressure on yourself to pure a shot just to clear a hazard? I know many people that build clubs for the pros & they tell me that most of them are playing what they are used to playing not what they could score better with. Next time you are watching a tour event take a look into the bags of the pros that are more consistent. You will see far more cavity-backs than you will muscle-backs. If anyone wants me to prove that a cavity back can be just as workable as muscle-back come on up to CO & I will show you how to hook a 7 iron 65 yards. Working the ball is about face angle & swing path not about center of gravity. That information is from the most talented club designer in the business.

Fact is the pros play the clubs they are payed to play. They do not play the clubs that fit their game. If you knew the things I know you would understand. I am a clubfitter & teaching pro. I do know more about golf clubs than most touring professionals. They have guys like me build their golf clubs & they only worry about how it feels & flies in their hands. Why would they bother with the knowledge when they do not need. Understanding how a golf club works & fits the golf swing is not their job it is mine. It is fine with me if you guys feel the need to play blades I will take my miss hits to 10 feet anyday over feedback. Best of luck to all of you this season.

Anyone (including the pros) playing blades now is hurting their score. There is no reason to play with no forgiveness. I have a milled cavity forging & I can work the ball just as well as I could with a blade, but when I miss it a little it hits the green. Why make this game harder than it has to be. EGO is the only reason behind guys that play blades.

Pick the grip that feels the best in your hands. Grips are your only connection to the club & that connection should be comfortable.

Help! My shots are too high!
cigarnut81 replied to kehanra99's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Sounds to me like you are adding loft at impact by allowing the clubhead to pass your hands. You should go see a pro to fix yourself up. No amount of equipment change can fix that swing flaw. -
Golf shoes for narrow heels?
cigarnut81 replied to shades9323's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Footjoy is decently narrow. Stay away from ECCO. I would recommend that you add a flat insole to any shoe you buy as that will move your foot up into a narrower part of the shoe. -
I watched my old pro shoot a 61. It was a really good round with his driver. He usually hooks it of the planet but that day he had control & was putting it out there 360 or so off every tee. He hit it inside 10 feet all day. I must tell you that this round was broken up into a nine in the morning & then he had to handle some tournament stuff for 3 hours. We finished after that stuff was over & looked at the card. 30+31=61 crazy right. The six under on the front was most impressive.

My favorite beer is Stella Artois.

I did not say it was a scientific term. I just stated the facts about it's location in a golf club head. I am correct as I have done the research. If you trust wikipedia for anything then I pity you.

The sweet spot is a point on the face that intersects perfectly with the vertical & horizontal centers of gravity inside the clubhead. It is the size of the tip of a needle.

Golf Ball Hot List......... Ya, Right $%#+*
cigarnut81 replied to whit53's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Golf Digest's Hot List's are based entirely on ad dollars! I have seen them return products entered for the hot list entry from companies that do not advertise in their magazine completely unhit so their ratings are rubbish! -
DBake where is that shop???? I have some irons for him to check out!!! I know they are spot on!!!! I have measured them myself then i bent them to spec!!!! We like to forget that we are dealing with pieces of metal and it is an art not a science so things are not always dead on, you have to have some kind of manufacturing tolerances!!!! Also what is he using to measure them?? I hope it is not a loft/lie machine because they are not very accurate!! You need a much more precise machine for reliable readings!!!

Slow play killed my best 9 hole round, tips for coping?
cigarnut81 replied to elsito99's topic in Golf Talk
The solution is called a pre-shot routine!!!! I am no good at mine but that is how you prepare for tha shot so if it is solid then all the time waiting will be out of your mind by the time you hit!!! -
I made my first eagle yesterday!!! Yahoo!! I pitched in from about 30 yards pin-high left of the flag!! It was not as exciting as I had anticipated!!!
