  1. Very serious amateur photographer and Photoshop guru :D
  2. I'm pulling for David Duvall. I've always liked the guy and would love to see him find his game again. On the rookie front, Jason Alred is who I'm pulling for. He's struggled both times he's been on the tour, but he's got game. (He set the course record at my club when he was a member and I know his dad...what can I say? :) )
  3. I don't think going back to blades is going to improve your game. Going back to the other basics probably will. Over time, we tend to drift away from proper grip, stance, and alignment. As things get worse, we try to adjust more, and suddenly we're so far out of whack that we don't even recognize ourselves. I'd suggest working on those basics and cementing them into your routine through practice and actual play.

  5. I'd have to go with the long putt for par or better. Nothing more satisfying than hearing (or seeing) the ball fall into the cup. It's nice to hit a booming drive or a crisp iron tight into the green but, after that shot, you've still got some work to do.
  6. Sounds to me like we should be hanging out at his clubhouse and getting all the free drinks Make mine a chocolate shake, please
  7. I had a flat day on the course today. Couldn't seem to get the putts to fall and shot an 80. One birdie and several missed ones!
  8. I just got a free Lamkin Sting Free grip that I put on my gap wedge. It is a VERY nice grip, but at the cost of $7-11 per grip, they're not going to be my grip of choice. I'm currently using the GP Decades on the rest of my clubs. When I regrip this winter, I'll likely go back to Lamkin half-cords.
  9. There are times when wearing the winter gloves are an absolute necessity. I have a pair of FJ's in my bag for those days when the weather just doesn't want to cooperate. I find them a bit awkward at first, but not to the point of interfering with play. You certainly lose some feel around the greens, but your hands are much better off than when the fingertips are turning blue and there's no feel at all in them. Those hot pocket devices (you know the ones that you activate and put in your pocket) are very handy to have around, as well.
  10. Which one keeps you in play consistently? What works well for one person, may not work at all for you. I'd go with whichever one performed best with my swing and not worry about anything else.
  11. I've played a lot of different wedges over the years. The Vokey is by far my favorite to play. I'm using the oil can finish wedges (52, 56, 60). The 56 and 60 are both spin milled, the 52 is not. The finish wears off quickly, but with proper care (cleaning and drying), rust shouldn't be a major issue. I replace my wedges after a year to 2 years, but I play at least 3 times a week, too.
  12. I've played with a 20+ handicapper that does, indeed, knock the cover off the ball and sends it "out dere". I've never measured his drives, but 300+ wouldn't surprise me. He's routinely 25-40 yards by me, albeit not always in the short stuff. Although he knocks it a ton, he rarely hits greens in regulation, his chips are a nightmare to watch, and he can miss a 3 foot putt in a heartbeat. It's frustrating to play with him because it is a large group that plays and he'll often win skins (net) because the rules give him 2 pops on some holes. Tough to beat net eagles on tough par 4's.
  13. Jack was a great player and a tremendous bonus to golf, but Tiger's game is simply amazing.
  14. Rogue Valley Country Club This is the picture that I took that the club uses for the scorecard. It's from the proshop looking at the 18th green.
  15. Retired USNavy Submarine Service (Nuclear Power), former stock broker, and now just play golf.
