Feherty under fire for joke...
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to justinbaker's topic in The Grill Room
First of the soldier wouldnt be able to kill Pelosi cause she's a gad damn vampire. And secondly I think that by having the article posted and not recorded audio, it let many people re-examine the comment over an over until they think that they can call him on. You liberals need to learn to take a joke. Thousands of Bush jokes for you and one for us, are joke hurts the left more, and I didnt even think the joke packed that much of a punch. Lets change the characters to Hastert, Cheney, and Bin laden, and see how many people would have found it funny. Bravo to feherty for voicing the opinion of many soldiers around the world -
my dad just got it it its okay. I have tried it with all things set neutral and it goes a little shorter than my old sumo. I would say dont get it, it has a high amount of backspin, so unless you need to get the ball in the air its just going to end up hurting you. Also the shaft changability isnt worth the changed ball flight, its a little more of a players club than they market it as. But, alas, I am not you. I would go and try it for yourself and compare it to some other drivers, like the r 7 limited, same weight set up as a r9 but no shaft change and only 200. I would also try the new nike dymo and titliest D comp

Just had my first eagle. i am 15 years old and I had it on a par 4. I also ended up shooting 38 for my first reall 9 this season. I was one my par 4 5th with a 240 blind tee shot over a bunker. The hole curves around the lake so i was about 103 out from the pin. I took my gap wedge and hit possibly one of the most beautiful balls of my life, high and arching. I landed it about 4 feet past the hole and spun it in for my first eagle in my life

What Hybrid did you get and why?
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Check out the new mizuno mx 700 hybrid. I was orginally planning on not having a three iron is using the mx 700 as its replacement. When I first tried the mx 700 I flew over 30 yards longer than my three iron. It is ideal if you want some slight workability. I would compare to the tour edge exotics hybrids but its only $200 instead of $350 -
I was playing a course when I was nine down in florida with my dad. It was a partial island green with railroad ties on the front (Same thing as 17 at TPC sawgrass). I hit my iron perfect right at the pin on the front of the green but I spun it back because the ground was so soft. It ended up sitting on the railroad tie about 10 feet from the hole. I couldnt putt it as there was a sprinkler head in my way, so I had to chip it. ended up chipping it in for my first birdie in my golf career, with one of the hardest shots I had ever played

I'm a huge tiger fan, but the 20+ replays of the putt, one after the other, some from the same camera repeatedly was annoying as hell. He's a great player, but we dont need 5 minutes of the same god damn putt to remind us of it

thanks everyone for all the advice, and to answer some of you guys questions/ respond to some statements, I like my driver head, but my friend who has the same club but with a stiff shaft has none of of the same feel that comes with mine. I know that there are alot of shafts out there but I'm afraid to spend the money and then find that it sucks. Also I looked online and saw that the tour burner tp's go for around 250 and sometimes lower with matrix shafts. I'm especially interested in these drivers because a matrix shaft costs about the same by itself. Anybody have one, and if you do how does it feel? (P.S. my parents have a type of rule that because its a highschool sport, they will financially support me partially, but im also getting a job because with todays club prices I need all the money I can get)

Hello everybody, I'm kind of stuck at a cross road right now because I'm at that unique point in my game when almost all of my equipment needs to be replaced or updated at the same time. the first is that my driver, an original sumo 4950 driver is regular shaft flex. Last summer the head pro helped me get my weight shift alot better and because of this increase in power I know snap hook my drives unless I push the club like no other. With the prices of some of the new shafts that are coming out do you think I should get a new shaft or a new driver all together? second is that I also need new irons. I have ignites which I got the summer before freshman year ( I'm a sophomore now). these are now almost obsolete as I can play blades (ball striking is amazing, but due to my size distance is not). I have tried a couple irons at the local shop including the mizuno mp 52's, the nike vr split cavity's. I personally liked the mizunos more because they did whatever I wanted, but the ballooned slightly, and the pro said that I should try the mp 62 to get rid of the balloon. But the nikes seemed to be more forgiving. just curious as to what a bunch of random strangers can suggest for me.

exactly, until he gets the club through and then they just kinda flips up

Custom Edel Putter
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to shakogolfer78's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think you just went under the placebo effect. You didnt know that you were aimed that incorrectly, or that the loft was banged off. this is your putter, and unfortunatly because the guy at the store showed you that what you had was wrong and what he had was right, you are probably going to have that in your mind for a while. But I think you should stick with your original -
your legs are kinda pale, , but really it just looks like its really nice, do you muscle through the ball with your arms or do you actually push off the ground with you back foot on the follow through ( just looked like the leg moved because thats what everyone says it should do, not because it helps with power)

HighSchool Golf Freak replied to pshizz's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting

Hitting woods off the deck?
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to Titleist Man's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
depends, If I'm hitting a regular shot I keep my tempo smooth, almost slow, and make sure I get the weight shift right, and just let it flow. If I'm hitting a stinger(Like tiger ) i keep the same thoughts, but think more about hitting into the turf like an iron, trying to pinch the ball -
why is it that no one is listening, or at least addressing the fact that Miura is not part of titleist, where as cameron is and not only that but Miura has compared his irons to titleist in order to show how much better he thinks his irons are
-
okay two things in response to this. 1. That still does not explain Why miura would work on a titliest sponsor. 2. Cameron made these clubs once, because he is one of the best craftsmen, and because amazingly, his company is owned by Titleist! And forging doesnt take that much skill, you just place the ingot into the press and hit the big red button. But to mill the cast of the irons, and to know what tiger means when he says this or that, is an art.
-
and what makes you not believe me about Scotty Cameron doing that? If he was sponsored by Titliest, then why would Miura make the Irons?
-
I know that once he was sponsored by titleist, they brought in scotty cameron to custom make irons for him from scratch. Cameron came and slowly made a model of the irons based on what tiger said, and proceeded to only forge like 1000 sets of them, of which My local pro owns. they're are beautiful btw

I'll be getting new irons. I have nike ignites but I'm already outplaying them in just two years. Probably getting nike vr half cavity's or mizuno mp 62. Also need to reshaft both me woods. Went from no weight shift this past summer to a perfect shift, so now both my woods (regular flex) are guaranteed to be snap hooks. Also looking to get a new sand wedge before the new groove rules go into effect.

Your all time favorite golf books?
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to CosmosMpower's topic in Golf Talk
I'm surprised that no one has said putting out of your mind, by bob rotella. One of my team captains had the worst season of his life when it came to putting and then the next time I saw him he was draining everything he rolled. I asked what he did, and he told me about that book. He said that we would never have been a great putter until he read that book. Its an instructional book, but about the mind and not the stroke. Also recommend Little Red Book. Great read, interesting and just plain calming -
Do not use plastic tubes!!!!!
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to halcon's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I dont know what the damage looks like. But On a slightly related subject, my friend got his driver regripped by a guy and when he cut the old grip off ( wasnt really old, my friend got a new calloway with a matrix shaft) he cut a little to deep. My friend didnt notice till in the middle of a practice round, id driver shaft snapped in the middle of the grip -
I have to agree with you. The longest driver per pound of his own weight hits the ball in the 250's as a sophomore in highschool. While that might seem as good, this kid is around 5' 4" and weighs like ninety pounds. If you know how to swing then it doesn't matter your size. But I think that these twenty handicappers are just saying there best drive ever. My coach could play as a pro given every part of his game except his putting. The guy cant make a putt from outside 2 feet, and therefore shoots in the high seventies

Downswing Swingthoughts?
HighSchool Golf Freak replied to barrycuda's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have always started my back swing with my arms, but thats because my lower body goes so fast my back foot is at finishing position by impact, Which causing me to lose a lot of power. I think a good thought is to always feel tight( in a good way like everything is on a track) until impact when you should feel totally extended -
The d2 is for players in the 10 to 15 handicap range I think, while the d3 is like a tour driver. The burner would probably be the best for you because it's the most forgiving out of all of the drivers. If you do get the burner though, you should get the shaft cut, because it is almost an inch longer than the other drivers(This creates on average 7 or 8 more yards but for a beginner this creates a lot less accuracy)
