  1. I am bringing this thread back from the dead as we leave this Friday for Ireland. The group is playing Killeen at Killarney, Tralee, Waterville and Ballybunion. On the day off from golf my wife(non golfer) actually wanted to go to Kinsale spend the day shopping and eating, and then head over to Old Head to play a twilight. She saw pictures and actually insisted that she check it out. Here in Florida she likes to ride in cart, have cocktail and enjoy the scenery. Though it is a sin to ride a cart over there, if it means I get to play Old Head, I will make the sacrifice. I am really stoked!!
  2. I am bringing this thread back from the dead. I just spent the morning drinking coffee and exploring the courses. Thanks for putting that together!
  3. I am looking to add either an 18 or 19 Degree Hybrid. Would someone be kind enough to recommend a high launching, yet still fairly heavy and stiff, shaft? Thanks!
  4. Hi All, I am taking my wife to SW Ireland next May. I have been there before with buddies so all we were concerned about was playing golf and drinking. This time around I was thinking about renting a house and inviting another couple. He golf she does not. My plan is to rent two cars so in the morning my buddy and I can go out to play while the two girls go sight see. If we wanted to play Ballybunion, Tralee, Old Head and Waterville, would it make sense to rent a little place in Killarney? Would this give us a good proximity to those courses and allow our wives access to good sightseeing and stuff to do? Any and all opinions are welcome! Thanks!
  5. Hi Guys, Thanks for all of the insight. I think I will venture out for one round outside the Kierland, but am relegated to Kierland for the rest of the trip. They allow you to check the kids into the kids club for free if you play golf or visit the spa. This will allow my wife to chill at the pool while I am on the links. Not a bad deal all things considered. Thanks!
  6. As DB said above you can get the brass shims from Golfworks. However, be careful as the bond between the shim, epoxy and hosel is not as secure as a traditional fitting.
  7. Hi All, I am traveling to Scottsdale with my wife and two little monkeys 9/3-9/10. Yes, I know it will be hot :) My wife agreed to let me play 5 rounds during the week and would like some suggestions. We are at the Four Seasons for two nights and then we move over to the Westin Kierland. The Four Seasons I guess is attached to Troon and the Westin the Kierland Golf Club. If you were in my position, would courses would you play? Any advice would be appreciated as the only courses I have played in the area has been at the Boulders. Thanks!
  8. Has anyone had a chance to try the Maltby CT-256 head yet? I would be curious to hear some feedback. Thanks!
  9. I picked one of these up yesterday and hit 150 balls with it yesterday and this morning. It has completely changed that way I hit a ball. My issue was coming in shallow and stuck and would hit behind the ball quite a bit. After using this and getting the feel of it, I went out and played a few holes. Night and day. Absolutely pure. Love it!
  10. I am thinking about putting graphite shafts into a set of irons. I have a few really stupid questions to ask the board. Can you build a set of irons with graphite shafts at the same length as a set of steel shafted irons? The reason why I have shied away from graphite in the past is they are always longer. I think it is to maintain a similar swingweight as the steel. Can someone give me a few tips on how to build a set with graphite at a steel length. Thanks!
  11. I have made it fairly clear over the past year or so that I love Maltby equipment. Every club in my bag is a Maltby and I really believe that his iron heads are as good as any out there. If I were in your position I would look at some of the Club Paks Maltby sells. They will assemble each set exactly to your specs for $40. Here are a few you might benefit from: http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_PMA0180 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_PMA0066 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...5_A_cn_E_10064 I gave my bother in law a set of Maltby Distance Master (the value line from Maltby) irons last year. He loves them. You can also look at some of the forged offerings from Maltby as well. Headlines are that you can have a brand new set of excellent irons for a hair over $220.
  12. There are some excellent component manufacturers. The companies that Blades4me mentioned are all excellent as well as Snake Eyes from Golfsmith. Over the past 1 1/2 I have come to play exclusively Maltby products as I like his designs and the quality is excellent. I have two of his drivers: I use this driver head in a Motore F1 shaft. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MA0124SW Golfworks has it marked down to $44 which is an absolute steal. I bought mine for $99 a little over a year ago.
  13. I bought a set of Malbty MTF's over a year ago. I seriously doubt I will ever play anything other than Maltby forged irons. The TE version replaced the MTF's earlier this year due to the change in grooves. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...099_A_cn_E_671
  14. I think I already know the answer to this question, but here it goes anyway. My wife and I are buying a house so we are trying to skimp and save any way we can. We are staying with friends this coming weekend on Kiawah and I was hoping to play the Ocean Course again. Last year at this time coughing up $250 to play was no biggie, but it is this year. Does anyone know of any discounts to be had? Any sites that book Kiawah at a discount or a certain way to shake the pros hand that would result in a discount :) Any input would be appreciated!
  15. I started the thread because I have a 18 degree hybrid that I do not hit very well. I have been considering using a 7 wood for a while because I hit my fairway woods so much better. I am going to build one off of golfworks.com for $45 and I will update the board on how I hit it.
  16. I have been using an 18 degree Hybrid to bridge the gap between by 24 degree hybrid and three wood. Really do not like it and have been considering going back to a wood to fill the gap between the 24 hybrid and 3w. Does anyone with a lower handicap use a 7W? What would be your iron equivalent with it? Thanks!
  17. Chris, Thanks for the offer. I will drop you an E-mail tomorrow. Eric (beretta)
  18. I am in the process of drafting a business plan. I have a Pro Forma Income statement complete and the bank I am working with has asked for a Projected Balance Sheet. I really need a little help in translating the income statement into a balance sheet. If there are any CPAs on the board and could spare a few minutes I would really appreciate it. What would take me 2 days to figure out a CPA (or anyone with a lick of financial sense) could do in about ten minutes. If you have a smart ass comment please save it. If you want to help me please let me know. Thanks!
  19. At that age ordering anything other than a Natural Light will impress a young lady. When it comes to booze try lots of different things and drink what you like without pretention. That being said never, and I mean never, order a fruity martini in front of other men. Post Golf Round: You need to develop a taste for whiskey at some point. Find a blended whiskey you can palate and order it on the rocks. Most people transition into whiskey by starting with Canadian whiskey and moving to Scotch or Bourbon. Canadian whiskey tends to be a little sweeter than other types. Just be aware that it you order a single malt or single barrel, DO NOT PUT IN ON ICE. In some places it is considered a sin and if you are trying to fit in with your dad's buddies it will help knowing this. Find a gin you like and develop a taste for gin martinis. Having a couple of premium beers that you like helps as well. For Chics: My brother taught me the 100% sure fire way to impress a girl who is under the age of 25. The Kir Royale. If the girl has never had one or heard of it, encourage her to try one. You can ever bite the bullet and order one yourself (make sure none of your guy friends see you). It is a very elegant and simple cocktail that almost all women love. It will also demonstrate you are wordly. Lastly, find a couple of "go to" wines that you can order with confidence. Impressing younger girls can easily be done if their date stares at the wine list (after establishing her color preferance) and saying "oh they have the XXXX" Again it makes you seem a little more wordly.
  20. I just wanted to give a heads up to any forum members who have been considering buying an AR-15. This morning I was sitting here drinking coffee and browsing budsgunshop.com and they posted this deal last night: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...s_id=411537957 This is about as good of a deal on an AR as I have seen in long time. If did not already have one, I would be all over this. I am not affiliated with Buds in any way other than being a happy customer.
  21. I think you will find that his blades are a little more playable because the are a tad bit longer than your usual blade. This moves the sweet spot more into the center of the face and increase MOI by a ton. At address these look like a conventional forged blade but when you hit one off of the toe and it keeps flying, you will understand the difference.
  22. I would actually have golfworks put them together for you. It costs $10 per club and then you can have them fitted locally. As for shafts I would stick to either the Dynamic Gold, FST or Rifle (costly.) My MTFs are shafted with DG s300 and feel great. MMBs are sweet irons!!
  23. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...23_A_cn_E_2089 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...53_A_cn_E_2089 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...62_A_cn_E_2089 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...63_A_cn_E_2089 http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...65_A_cn_E_2089 I use the MTF model and will never use any other iron. Minimal offset, forged feel and cavity back weighting. You can also have them build you a complete set for about 1/3 of a Mizuno set.
