  1. Usually post in the Breaking Bad thread, but sometimes, it just clicks. Been loving the progression Ive seen lately.
  2. Seen a lot of videos of people's swing, but could anything be learned from filming a whole round of swings away from the driving range?
  3. Set my personal best 9-round on my course of +10. Was playing in some extreme wind and after-rain conditions in Winnipeg that day. The course is pretty open to wind, and more holes were perpendicular to the wind than not. I actually think I had a +7/8 possible in better conditions, and if I decided to not use a 5i shot, a club I rarely pull out and shoot. (Duffed the shot and got like 25 yards out of it)
  4. What sort of yardage is this being employed from? When would you abandon this for a more fuller-esque swing?
  5. This is one situation I find myself thinking about a lot, as there's so much choice to it. Whether the green approach is flat or elevated or something else. Whether to chip, pitch, or go into full swing territory, and with which clubs, at which distances. Whats your stance/ball position like? Follow-through thoughts/etc. Just curious to hear how people view it.
  6. Mostly play by myself, but I will gimme anything within 1 feet if its not a birdie/par putt. The birdie/par putt has extra pressure, and its better long-term if you learn to putt in those situations.
  7. Amazing book so far, but unless I missed it during the practise plan part, I didnt see an explanation of the SCOR system. S is for how many strokes can be saved? C is goal to achieve? O is how many times the stroke is done? R is for related shot?
  8. Got the notice my book arrived! Cant wait to check it out tonight!
  9. Im actually having this problem lately with only the driver, where depending on the sky or sun, I lose sight of even my yellow balls. Just tonight, I thought I had a fairway shot, didnt see it, and didnt find it on the fairway. Shot a penalty 2nd shot and kept walking to find my first ball just beyond a small ridge on the fairway 20 yards further.... Im just afraid of looking up too early and screwing up my ball contact.
  10. Fairly new to the sport (3 months in) and have bought some new stuff because my club set was old. Bought a newish driver/3w/3hy. I currently play in some Nike tennis shoes and they feel ok. I was wondering how much golf shoes have helped people though? Would you suggest them?
  11. Well my round started really well, but went downhill from there. Really having trouble golfing at this course with the amount of mosquitos through holes 3 through 6. Just annoying bites and greasy hands from all the repellant you have to use. (Had one club fly out of my hands today......) Blew up on holes 8 and 9 too. Overall, I gotta fix my hooking tee shots and pulled irons. Getting good distance, but too many penalty shots from unfindable driver shots, and too many missed approaches to the left.
  12. Played my 2nd round of 18 holes at Hecla in Manitoba. It was also my first time playing in damp weather, and it took me way too long to notice I likely needed 1-2 irons higher than normal. Also the first time where I brought out my umbrella, needed it for 5 holes on the front 9. Shot after shot coming up shorter than I thought, and had a hard time whenever I got into taller grass. Talked with a server after who confirmed this when he plays the course in similar conditions. Had 3 blowup holes on the 8,9,10; would love to play this again in normal cirumstances as I think below 100 was possible here. Accidentally turned on handicap scoring in Golfshot for this round.
  13. Just ordered the book, looking forward to reading it!
  14. While its not the best course, my dad as a Forces member got me a decent membership at the military golf course, where a majority of my rounds will now be from. Its a different assortment, with 3 par 4s, 1 par 5, and 5 par 3s so not entirely sure how to evaluate it as coming close to breaking 100 or not now. but this might be closest to a decent game of golf so far. http://imgur.com/qu9OMzS
  15. Oh, so the hole was in that direction.....(big par 5, couldnt see the flag, and the picture at the tee wasnt great)
  16. While, after hearing from too way many people my driver was seriously lacking to anything made in the past 10 years, I decided to blindly buy a used TM R7. Finally got to the range, and WOW!! Wish I made the move sooner!! Do these make these modern drivers easier to hit straight because that was the most surprising aspect to me. (2nd being the easy distance to attain vs my old driver) My 2nd thought is that I should maybe now consider more modern woods. These are the woods I currently have from the early 90s Lynx set my dad has been allowing me to use since starting 2 months ago.
  17. Played 18 holes for the first time today with two buddies who I had not golfed with since I started two months ago. We played a course called The Meadows which I thought was tougher than anything I had played yet. Had only played alone so far and was surprised by the anxiety I had on tee shots. I topped every ball except one, and only had tee shot go over 100 yards I'd imagine (that one good tee shot though was rpoabbly 250 on fairway) My freind who shoots in the high 70s thought everything looked fine, and having never seen me shoot before, said everything but my tee shots and I'm well on my way to breaking into 90s easily. Both friends said my clubs dont make it easier (Driver/Woods from an early 90s Lynx set) but I dont think thats the problem. It was anxiety for me, as every other approach shot was fine once I seperated from them for my shots. I shot a 112.
  18. 2nd post here; had tried golf a few times in the past year, but never serious attempts at it. This summer though, I signed up for a 5 week intro adult course at Players here in Winnipeg and got a lot of help. With the weekly group now over, I will start to play more rounds; this was my last round.
  19. New golfer myself, started a month. Have only played twice on 9 holes, shooting a 62 than a 56 the next time. Hope to try 18 holes soon!
