I've been lucky enough to play the old course maybe 40+ times.(im a member of the links trust) Everytime is still special. No where else is like it. Sunny day. Second shot onto 18th with a crowd of people watching. Hit a nice one you might even get a little cheer. As you walk up past old Tom Morris's house and look up to see the royal and ancient clubhouse. Need I say more? No where compares in my opinion.

The whole argument on the BBC is nothing to do with sectarianism. It was a kinda half joke that got out of hand. Technically speaking Rory ( and all ni golfers) play for ireland as a whole. As the Irish golf union take care of both the north and south. The comment was "even if he's got a uk passport he still plays golf for ireland) Some folk took it a bit to heart. It's a bit like Andy Murray. english when he wins and Scottish when he loses.

He gets little attention for his golf and more for his clothes. They even talk about poulters golf first and his gear is more whacky

23 why? What's not factually correct about my statement? That was the best 4 rounds of golf I have seen. Better than any of tigers epic wins. So aggressive, accurate and yet controlled. Also Europe is running the game at the moment. When asked at the he end " Rory will you play in the USA more now?" he should have said. " why all the good players are in Europe!"

I prefer when Tiger plays. I hope the next 10 years are just Europeans beating Tiger. That will make me happy.

Other Pros hate tiger because he is probably the father of several of their childs. Seriously though Americans seem to be obsessed with having all their sports stars talk rubbish about God and family all the time. Tiger did all that crap so it made his downfall even more funny

Really far too early to compare. However all this soft course bullshit has to end......everyone played the same course yet one young paddy destroyed the field. I hate tiger now, but still too early to compare

Erm based on that Golf is eliteist , sexist, discriminatory on age and race. Other than that its simply not a world wide main stream sport....its growing. Your fromt the UK think about football...how many schoolboys play that....erm everysingle one.....How many people go to games at the weekend...100s of thousands every weekend. Then times that by every country who plays football.....thats a mainstream sport. Golf in my opinion is not their yet....partly bacause of its own image.

Yes! I hit a really high ball prior to that. Now my ball flight rises quickly but levels off at its peak....It seems to penetrate far more now. My distance has improved from about 160 with a 6 iron to 170-175..also iam more accurate.

You want to know another decent perk of having a St Andrews Links trust bag tag. When abroad, espacialy in the US, you can totaly chance some discounts or tee times at courses. I got on Celebration in Florida a while ago, the guy tried to claim the course was based on the old course.....I shown him my bag tag, I got a tee time to compare them..haha....its nothing like the old course.. Still cant complain.

I just got custom fit for new Irons. The shafts are Rifle Project x 6.0 half inch longer than standard. The pro was supised I was playing regular flex shafts before that

I am from a golf family...I got so pissed of the constant pressure to play in every medal I gave the game up for 4-5 years......I have never been into watching golf on the TV much. Now when I took the game back up i got my handicap down to 9 fairly quickly....I have to thank the non stop golf I was put through as a youth.....

Once someone has achieved their personal potential then they are a player, even if they cannot play to that every week. They know what they can do, its personal no one can judge that by a handicap or score. They know what is possible for themselves And if thats is not the case....I would proudly state I hope to stay a hacker and not ever be a player.

In actual fact its the standard fee people from St Andrews pay. The courses are owned by the town, the Links trust run the courses and they are a not-for-profit organisation. I physicaly dont stay there but my parents have a home, so my paper work does as I stayed there while at univeristy. Up untill I was 18 it was free, now I have to pay a small fee. I also get points that I can use to get friends onto the courses free or at a discount. Its fantastic, I wish I had more time to go up and play.

Well I am really biased..... Scotland. By miles............and miles.........and miles.........and miles. I have been over to Ireland for a game, mainly around wicklow as my family are from there. Really though in 10 miles you have the old, the new, the jubilee, the caslte, the torrance, the devlin and the mighty Kingsbarns........please compare that somewhere else in the world....thats just one towns courses. There are 100s of courses in Scotland that are outstanding. No where can compare. Oh and the guy who said the old course does not look that special....haha, I enjoyed that
