  1. Shot 81 yesterday. 3 birdies on the front paired with a 2 doubles and a triple (hazard ). Ended up going 41-40. So close to breaking 80.
  2. It's not ESPN's fault that the coverage began so late. That would be the people in charge of the tornament's fault. Do y'all really think ESPN would choose to not show Tiger as much as possible? The Masters has always ahd the least aount of coverage. It's nothing new.
  3. It should just be cosmetic. I had an Adams RPM that was dented like that and it lasted a year in that condition. It still is useable, I've just moved on to better things. You should be fine.
  4. That's the rubber-necking effect though. I doubt that slow play is caused by a broken down golf cart on the course that everyone is slowing down to look at. I do understand what you're syaing though. Traffic for no reason drives me crazy more so than slow play. BTW, today it took me 3:45 to get around the course today, but I played the back 9 twice. Shot an 83 as well :)
  5. I have to go against you on that one. The traffic analogy is very fitting for the situation verse214 described. However, as you pointed out, there are those that are slow on their own regardless of congestion on the course. I personally don't care for them either. I played my last round on a Thursday afternoon on a pretty day. Started at 4:10 and finished at 6:40, that was taking my time. Could have been faster, but there was a slight pile up between 17 and 18.
  6. It sound slike you need a new hobby. I complain less about my engineering classes, and those are actually stressful.
  7. 85 today. 45 front 40 back. Couldn't hit my driver to save my life, topped nearly all the drives, but hit some really good recovery shots. Distance control was dialed in. Almost had my first ace. Had a lot of really good looks at birdie(2 less than 5 feet), but missed them all. I did chip in from about 25ft out the rough for birdie on 10, which I think got my back 9 score going. Overall good day considering I only hit 3 good drives out of 14 with 3 hazards :( .
  8. I'm just gonna go ahead and call BS on that. Tiger has busted his butt to get to where his is, and deserves every penny that he gets paid. If they are willing to pay it, why shouldn't he? Would you go to the other side of the world and do your job for free? I doubt it. And don't tell me Tiger has enough money. Wealth is not accumulated by providing a service for free, not to mention it would set a precedent that he may not feel like living up to. Once he waives one fee, there will be demand for him to waive more. Just my $.02
  9. Shot 87 today at LSU, finally got some good swings with my R7 SQ, but had trouble with my short chips. Could have been a lot better. Had 4 one putts and one no putt
  10. That like saying traffic on the highway should never happen. It's just a natural phenomenon that occurs when something is crowded. Everything slows down. And it's not caused solely by people that can't score better than 10 a hole.
  11. I thought I was speaking a language no one understood. Thanks for understanding.
  12. You're not very good at guessing things about me. I just don't think it right for someone that payed just as much as you to have to pick up his ball because he doesn't play to your impeccable standards. Not sure how that makes me a liberal. The only guidelines my course has for pace of play is to keep up with the group in front of you. Unless the only people that play your course are single digit or better, there will plenty of people on the course with multiple double digit scores. It's a fact, deal with it and don't be a pr*ck about it. And I feel like you aren't understanding what I'm saying, Norm. I'm not saying being stuck behind a slow group is OK on a slow weekday afternoon. Obviously, the slow group should let you play through. I'm defending them on a busy weekend when the course is just packed and the pace for everyone is slow. I really can't see how you have a problem with that
  13. The problem with this situation is that if it's a busy weekend day, I'm not letting anyone play through. Two weeks ago I played on a gorgeous Friday afternoon, and there was an hour and a half wait on the first tee. I was paired with 2 higher handicappers and one a little better than myself. Somehow a twosome was behind us, and they rode us the entire round. On the 7th green one of them hit into us (not sure if it was intentional). One of the high handicappers asked if we should let them play through. I said not a chance in hell. If we let them through, they will just be waiting on the million groups ahead of us, and then we are expected to let everyone that is right on us through. We offered to let them play with us to slow them down, but they didn't want that. So they stayed behind us. Point is sometimes you're just going to have to live with a 6 hour round. Yea it's no fun when it happens, but life isn't always fun is it?
  14. I get what you're saying, but tell me where there is an expected time for a round? I think it's unfortunate in the scenario you describe, but not unfair. It's a risk associated with the game. Unlike many other sports, there is no set time period allotted. It's not like it happens every time you tee it up. If you're not OK with that risk, I don't know what to tell you. Again, I would not be particularly thrilled about being behind a group like the one I'm defending. However, may day will not be ruined. All I'm saying is that every last one of us started out taking more than 10 shots to get the ball from tee to cup, who are we to say pick your ball up to a beginner?
  15. Great post. This is exactly how I feel about it.
  16. No, I'm not joking. Not sure who died and made you king of the course, but other people have just as much a right to enjoy themselves. From the sounds of things you'd love to be behind me because I play very quickly and encourage others to do the same. However, I know I have no right to tell someone to pick up his ball. There is no rule that says how long a proper round of golf should take. And even though I'm not a slow player nor do I enjoy slow play, I can understand that some people will take longer than myself. Get over yourself, you're not the only person on the course.
  17. I have to disagree with everyone saying pick up the ball if you're slowing down the group. First off, if you're playing with friends, they SHOULD understand that it may take you longer to finish a hole than them. If you're paired with strangers, well unfortunately for them, you payed just as much to play as they did. I know it sounds rude, but the vast majority of people are not professional golfers. This is a game that is meant to be relaxing and enjoyed by all who play, not just the low handicappers. I didn't play on a course until I had been hitting balls for 2 years, but if a beginner wants to learn on the course, hear the ball go in to the cup, maintain an actual handicap to monitor his improvement, etc., who are we to say he have to pick his ball up because he doesn't keep up to our standard? You have to learn by actually playing, and that means finishing a hole past triple bogey.
  18. Surprisingly I had a decent amount of trouble hitting with it. Well, it took a while to adjust really. I think the shaft may be slightly longer than my old driver's. After I started getting used to it I was getting out to the 250 marker pretty easily with a nice draw. But I'm definitely gonn aneed some time to get used to it though.
  19. I was in the local Edwin Watts killing time. Looking through the used club bin I saw a Taylormade R7 460 Super Quad driver with the ReAx stiff shaft in 10.5*. I gave it a look over and it has a little discoloration from one too many hits on a range mat, but other than that it was solid. Checked the price... $60. Needless to say I bought and went straight to the range. Yay for me
  20. Like has been said above, the Nike Platinum has the most spin of the balls I've played (Pro V1, HX Tour, TP red/black, B330, etc.). I had a 6 iron shot come back about 8 ft from the ball mark last time I played with a Platinum. Too much spin on the wedges for my taste. I need to give the e5+ a try based off everyone's opinions here.
  21. Shot 89 at LSU today. 37 freaking putts:( I could not make a put that wasn't a tap in to save my life. Lots of lip outs, but not one dropped. Also had a four hole stretch of triple, triple, double, double that ruined my round. Good thing the weather was nice...
  22. I was at LSU's pitch and putt course and my first shot was a pin seeker that missed holing out by a foot. I twirled my wedge after that shot. I do it when I hot a decent shot. I've seen it happen so many times that I picked it up subconsiously.
  23. TPC Louisiana is it for me this year.
  24. I had 3 in a row once, and I have no idea what I did the rest of that round. It was great though.
