  1. Tips. Although it is darn fun to play the ladies tees every now and then.
  2. I am just not a fan of Villegas' swing. AK has a stronger foundation.
  3. I would strongly disagree. I think that beginners think that they can change the shape of the shot with their hands - which leads to very inconsistent shots. More advanced players, Nicklaus and Tiger seem pretty advanced to me at least, use their stance and clubface to change the shape of the ball. This can work for both beginners and pros, its just that beginners just don't know any better.
  4. Ha. No andro or any other steroids. I was drinking 4 scoops of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein in the morning and then 4 scoops at night. Total protein per scoop is 24 grams meaning that I was getting 198 grams of protein just from my shakes and not including meals during the day. I have since stopped though. Again, concerned with the rapid weight gain. I just turned 27 a few months ago and I know that my metabolism is going to eventually slow down so I figured that I don't want to push it. My goal now is a slow gain rather than fast gain but no more whey protein for a while.
  5. Stetching??? What, it's just golf. JK. Ya, I haven't had any motion inhibited and my workout routine is a pretty good mix of pure strength training, cardio, and even Yoga for my back. I think that I can keep going but I'm just hesitant. Clearly Tiger's strength hasn't hurt him.
  6. Tour event with gallary following our group ... 82 ... 44 putts. Enough said.
  7. As some of you know, I injured my back in 2001 ending my golf career for good. Starting last March I decided to get back into the game and see if I could at least play scratch again. Part of that process involved a lot of weight training and within the last 2 to 3 months I have put on about 15 pounds of muscle. This puts me at 170 lbs with 8% body fat (I am 5'11"). My question is should I keep going. I am a little concerned that there is a line out there that divides atheltic and bulky and don't want to cross it and then have to slim back down. Any advice from personal trainers with golf as a specialty would be much appreciated.
  8. I played with a few guys out there that I would consider to be top pros. I agree that 73 is not likely but if you are having a bad day anything is possible. A 63 or 62 implies that they are putting well that day too so I would say throw that out. I think that so much depends on the type of player (steady golfer or pin shooter) and how they are playing that day. In sum, I would say that 66 or 67 is going to be what you see as a good day for them but don't be surprised to see a stroke or two over par if they are off.
  9. I agree that you CAN hit a fade and draw without changing your stance but I wouldn't want to simply because you are changing a fundamental part of your swing by messing with your hands. I would rather change my stance and clubface at set up and then swing normally. I just don't like having to make a "different" swing when I don't have to. It just gets too complicated.
  10. I have played with a variety of putters including both Scotty Cameron and Odyssey. Honestly, Scotty just makes a putter that sets up better for me and considering mine is custom it has been hard to switch from it. I tried changing to a 2 ball in the last few months but ultimately went back to my Cameron.
  11. Doesn't that drill imply you are manipulating your swing plane / clubface to hit the shots. I could be wrong but I would rather just swing the same and change my stance a bit. But that's just me.
  12. Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum Plus. Circa 2002 I believe.
  13. Problem is that I don't think that most golf pros know what they are looking at either so he might be on even ground.
  14. Hi everyone. First off, I want to thank everyone for their submissions. I hope everyone is happy with the feedback they have gotten as well as the few that have articles written. I am running into a problem where I have the same swing faults coming to me lately and frankly, I don't want to be redundant when I publish articles. If you want your swing looked at, please send me the swing and I would be more than happy to give you my feedback regardless of if you have a "new" problem or not. Looking forward to hearing from you.
  15. Please do two things. One, take a video of you hitting a golf ball. Practice swings are deceiving. Second, send it in to swing check rather than just hosting it on youtube. I'll be able to draw lines and give you a full and accurate analysis if you do.
  16. You could always try to copy me and throw your putter in a lake and putt with your sand wedge. Putting is no fun anyhow.
  17. Buy mine. Just kidding (kinda). If you are looking to find a new putter, you have to find one that has the right set up for you. If you don't feel confident over your putter or you have problems setting up with your putter odds are you won't make your putt.
  18. I will concede that it is probably a good swing for beginners but you have a low ceiling with it.
  19. I don't like setting down another club. It is going to get smaller or larger depending on which end points where. Not to mention I can color or tape all over the reflector stick.
  20. Range but I am not the best person to talk to about putting (see signature). If I were going to use it on the green I probably only use it for a square to square stroke which I am trying to move away from. Other than that I am a little lost on what I would use it for.
  21. Yes. Use it daily. I use it for stance width, allignment, etc.
  22. Buy a video camera. Best investment that money can buy for your golf game. Screw golf teachers who may be able to break 80 once in a while but get paid $60 a lesson.
  23. Ya... ummmmm.... triples are pretty bad too. Don't do that next time.
  24. What did you shoot with those doubles though? I am not saying that they can't strike anyone at anytime but they strike high handicappers a heck of a lot more.
  25. Double bogeys. Doubles come from really bad swings - which may or may not be an aberation - or really bad decisions. People over a 10 handicap often have at least one of each per round. That's my thoughts.
