  1. No commercials on the LIV Plus app. Youarerite
  2. Seems to be a lot of LIV haters here. I have to disagree. I watched most LIV events last year on YouTube, and this year's opening event using the LIV Plus app on my Amazon Firestick. The coverage of LIV is much more enjoyable to watch than the network PGA Tour event. LIV shows about 5 times the number of golf shots, without commercials, or sponsor interviews. I can't watch PGAT events without recording to a DVR and wearing out the 'skip' button. I hope that competition from LIV forces networks and PGAT to improve their product, Coverage of the majors is much more watchable. PGAT should learn from them. Although, given the big bucks spent on PGAT television contracts, loading them up with commercials is the only answer. I'm a fan of both tours, so I ignore the mud-slinging from both camps. Golf should be for the fans. The best entertainment product possible. The emergence of competition can only help with this.
  3. Thanks for the reply Mc. I was not intending to run down your service. I'd like to see it succeed. I was looking at it as a way to easily expand local course options, assuming that private clubs want to quietly sell unused tee times to stay solvent in these tough times for the industry. I f one could easily grab posted free tee times at private clubs, it would be great. No hassle, no drawn out 'requests', just see a time & book. The price should be reasonable - these after all are unused tee times that are lost revenue otherwise. That business should grow as more and more courses fall on hard times. As for travel, If I want to play a specific club while travelling, I just have my club pro make a phone call. This has gotten me on all but a couple of very exclusive courses that I wanted to see. Obviously, one can't overuse this for more than a few trips per year. I've also had hotels get me on private clubs in a couple of cases for last minute golf. For search, I still maintain that zip code is the way to go. One always knows or can easily find out the zip code of destination hotels or companies when travelling. "I'm going to be in zip code 'xyz' on these dates - what do you have open within x'x' miles? One click to book, like Amazon. Rather than travel, I see the potential customer base being golfers who want to expand their local play choices for the occasional change of venue.
  4. Seemed like a good idea. I registered but could find no courses other than a couple of off-peak openings at low-enders that were way overpriced. And to get that, I had to use an odd search path. The search function needs a lot of work. It would be nice to find a club for which tee times are available close to a specified address or zip code. Optionally specify a desired date/time range. Why they show hundreds of courses that don't participate is beyond me - just clutter. It's a good concept & I hope that they survive, but I'm not optimistic,
  5. Look up Tim Finchem's salary, and then consider if you want to work for free to support it...
  6. I stand by my points: - She is not a good announcer - She has weak golf credentials, relative to other candidates - There are many other better people for the job - People with this lack of talent and weak credentials seldom just "work their way up" Different opinions are what make for a forum...
  7. Bad things are happening in the golf industry! Within 25 miles of my house, 6 courses have gone under in the last year. 2 bankrupt and closed to play. 3 operating under bankruptcy, and one (which was on a number of "top courses" lists) being plowed up for housing. I've had private clubs offer to waive or reduce initiation fees. I worry about the future of the game...
  8. Tilghman adds nothing to the broadcasts. I don't believe that she has any LPGA experience, or certainly doesn't demonstrate any. She also does not seem to have any broadcast or journalism training, given the way she speaks and how shallow most of her comments are. There are many far better female announcer options, including Pepper and Rankin. Judy Rankin would be a first-rate lead, and Dottie would sure add color commentary. Rankin is as good as any golf announcer on TV today. I'm at a loss as to how Tilghman got the job in the first place. She must have, or had, some connection to Golf Channel ownership. There certainly are better options for a lead commentator, especially now that TGC seems to be moving toward being the predominant broadcaster of TV golf. I'm sure that the new owners will make the correction. That said, I must admit that I could/would not watch golf without my Tivo. I record tournaments, or start recording an hour or so before starting to watch. That way I can skip all of the commercials, the banter between announcers, dumb interviews, and the mandatory speech by the CEO of the sponsoring company, telling us how great the weather, course, players, and fans are and how proud that the company is to blow a few million as the sponsor (although in the current economy, this should scale back...). Try this - count how many golf shots that you see between the commercial breaks. It's usually 1 or two full shots, and 1 or 2 putts, with a lot of walking around and lining up by the players. I've seen cases where they show only 2 shots between commercials. Thank god for Tivo fast forward! I can watch a 3 hour tournament in under 90 minutes, and see every shot that they show. European tournaments have a much better content to noise ratio, if one can ignore the sad camera work.
