210 yards to green in left hand rough. Had to draw it around trees about 100 yards away and had restricted back swing due to trees behind. Managed to hit low drawing 4 iron to land short of the green and then run on. Was about 25 ft from the pin, and did not make the putt, but the shot was one of those that puts a real smile on your face.

Shot 76 yesterday. Best round in a competition at my home course. Played the last 6 holes 2 under par (birdied the last two holes), with only 8 putts. Should have won the competition!!

Moved to a Odyssey White Hot Number 9, from having used several Scotty's. Putts per round have fallen by 2-3 since. Made the move as I decided I wanted to play like Phil Mickleson.

I am 99.9% certain that as things stand at the moment is the team. The world qualification for the Europeans is not the world rankings but based on world events used for qualification. These finished with the us pga. Hence what happens in the Barclays does not matter with regards to autoqualification. The only thing it influenced was montys picks and those are done.

Got to be molinari (ryder cup is 4 doubles matches and only one singles). The molinaris should play in at least 3 of the 4. Then Justin rose as THE in form player. Get yourself a Detour - may not be the prettiest thing to look at - but if you have a swinging gate putting style, boy does it work. I am draining them from all over the place. My competitors at the weekend said they had never seen so many distance putts go in / narrrowly miss.

I have switched to it from a SC Newport. Bought a 2nd hand Detour for about £60. It really depends on whether you are a straight through OR swinging gate style. If you are the former then forget it. If you are the latter then it really helps (well me at least) with grooving that stroke. Biggest improvement for me has been on longer putts - I have played about five rounds with and during each one holed 1-2 putts from 15 - 30 feet (one to win the 2nd round of our club's fourball Winter knockout - come on!!!) I have been playing on pretty slow greens over the winter period however and think the heavier weight of the piutter has helped alot with getting the pace right. I am not sure how it will work during faster greens in the summer.

Played in foursomes competition - for first time Interesting format - found it quite hard to keep your rhythm We shot 84 gross for a nett 71 Some terrible holes including a triple, which was then followed by two birdies, courtesy of a 30 ft putt and 60 yard pitch in by myself Was hitting my new irons MD Golf Superstrong Forged really well - they are a complete revelation compared to my 20 yr golf Ping EYE 2s

Yes, I have started to do this recently and find it really helps on the short putts. Over the last three rounds, I dont think I have missed anything under 6-7 feet. It is probabaly more psychological than anything else, but if it works - don't knock it... If you want the real psycho-mumbo-jumbo - the line has got to be blue or green, as these get you into a calm and relaxed mind-set, black is a possibility, red definitely not - too agressive a colour.

Bunker Shot on 7th Par 3 - completely under-clubbed first shot - strong blustery wind caught me out 20 yards short of green Sort of a chip/pitch with 9 iron as low lip to bunker Caught it perfectly and hit the pin 1 foot tap-in for par 3

Driving the ball really well this weekend Best drive on the 18th - 406 yard par 4 Split the fairway in two and was left with a easy 9-iron in from 120 yards (was downwind). Birdie putt finished 1 inch short and was right on-line. Finished with an 84 (that included a 7 on a Par 3 - Doh! Must take my punishment and not try to be Phil M all the time) Matt

Hi New here - excellent forum. Most under-rated: I would vote for MD Golf - been getting great reviews from various sources and great value as they don't pay tour players. I have been thinking of finally updating my 20 year old Ping Eye 2+s, for some Superstrong CNC milled forged. Have been looking at AP2s and MP57s, but when I can get decent forged clubs for a third to a half of price of the more well known brands, I cannot see the point of Titleist and Mizuno. I guess that gives my opinion of over-rated. Anyone play MD Golf - not sure they are sold in the USA? Thanks Matt
