I can't believe nobody commented on the poor attitude of Jordan Spieth. He threw his club on the par 3, acting like a total brat. Then later on his approach he punched his hand and looked a little out of control. He didn't represent himself or the US today very well....
-
It was childish but...... He hasn't done anything since the masters win including dropping 0 - 3 and not helping his team one bit today. We shall see how his career pans out

Danny "One Hit" Willett. RIch Beem, Shaun Micheel?
-
Hats off to Reed, played like a true champion! Wonder what to expect next year? I think big things! Soup to Nuts, Patrick Reed is the best US golfer, Davis Love knows this......
-
Spieth is such a baby. Pouting and throwing his hybrid after that horrible shot......

Safe to say firing his putting coach was the right thing to do, probably should of done it 6 months earlier. 1 2 May 2010 Quail Hollow Championship 72-73-66-62=273 −15 4 strokes Phil Mickelson 2 19 Jun 2011 U.S. Open 65-66-68-69=268 −16 8 strokes Jason Day 3 4 Mar 2012 The Honda Classic 66-67-66-69=268 −12 2 strokes Tom Gillis, Tiger Woods 4 12 Aug 2012 PGA Championship 67-75-67-66=275 −13 8 strokes David Lynn 5 3 Sep 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship 65-65-67-67=264 −20 1 stroke Louis Oosthuizen 6 9 Sep 2012 BMW Championship 64-68-69-67=268 −20 2 strokes Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood 7 20 Jul 2014 The Open Championship 66-66-68-71=271 −17 2 strokes Rickie Fowler, Sergio García 8 3 Aug 2014 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational 69-64-66-66=265 −15 2 strokes Sergio García 9 10 Aug 2014 PGA Championship (2) 66-67-67-68=268 −16 1 stroke Phil Mickelson 10 3 May 2015 WGC-Cadillac Match Play 4 & 2 Gary Woodland 11 17 May 2015 Wells Fargo Championship (2) 70-67-61-69=267 −21 7 strokes Patrick Rodgers, Webb Simpson 12 5 Sep 2016 Deutsche Bank Championship (2) 71-67-66-65=269 −15 2 strokes Paul Casey 13 25 Sep 2016 Tour Championship 68-70-66-64=268 −12 Playoff Kevin Chappell, Ryan Moore Look at the dates on his wins. It looks like when he goes on to win a tourney he usually follows it up with one or two more shortly after. Interesting.... -
What a great legacy.......... Hats off to you Mr. Palmer.

Fired up the smoker and plan to watch in about 35 minutes. Can't wait to see this match go down. My money is on Rory, but we shall see......... @natureboy - How about that 133 YARD ;) wedge shot yesterday into the elevated green with the pin placement in the front. Mortals wouldn't have a chance at that pin.... -
Not a smart bet IMO. Just for the fact that Spieth plays so well at the Masters. I would take that bet on all the major excluding the Masters. No one in their right mind would bet against Spieth at the masters, 2nd, 1st and 2nd place finishes in his last 3 attempts. Just saying..... I believe he will win another Major, @ the Masters.

Rory, again stepping up after a deflating front 9....... If he could just put together one full round this week he could catch Johnson. Hats off the Johnson. -
Found some interesting stats, he really is ALL putter/around the green. http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.103.html 142 Total GIR's http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.199.html 42 GIR's other than FW. Surprisingly enough a few years back I noticed a few of his distances, 150, 175 etc he was actually close in prox to the pin from the rough than the fairway. We aren't talk just 4-5 opportunities either, he was well in the 20's-30's, enough swings to sort of paint a picture. http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02330.html T110 less than 100 @ 84.66 http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.078.html T155 75-100 http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.079.html 34 < 75 S http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02332.html 100+ 126 Solid ball striking is not showing up in these stats. He has that abbreviated back swing with what looks like a very strong grip, almost like amature would use to offset an over the top downswing. He also checks his left elbow out like the classic chicken wing, I can't believe he will ever be good at ball striking with that swing. It doesn't appear as much on his woods, but mid irons and most certainly his wedges the left elbow creates that 90 L after impact. What are you thoughts on his game? My first reaction is all putter, but I am a realist and understand he has other parts of his game that are top notch as well. He is much better around the green. He is ~30 in sand saves http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.111.html and 5th!!! in scrambling http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.130.html. Interesting player, my eyes tell me he has no business hanging with guys like Adam Scott, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson or Rory but he does..... @natureboy check this. http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.114.html 2 in birdies on par 5's. That really caught me by surprise especially with the average length and poor GIR.

Both are different leagues and should be broken out seperately. The intent wasn't to aggregate the wins into 25, but to state how many wins he has in each league. Of course majors and WGC's transfer over into each league. I was under the impression my audience would of easily picked up on that and not require an explanation..... -

27 years old tied for 20th all time in Majors with 4. 2 Vardon Trophies 2 Player of the year 2 Byron Nelson Awards 3 Order of Merit 13 Euro Wins 12 PGA wins 20th all time in earning at $32,563,996 Ernie Els made the hall of fame with 19 wins and 4 majors. I think making the hall of fame, categorizes your career as a living legacy. What Rory is doing now is story book type fiction. Winning the US Open by 8 strokes demolishing the field to start his career off, ~22 years old then. Then you have the bet with his father and winning the British to secure the bet for pops. He will secure the hall of fame by the age of 30. (Not saying he will be inducted then but his accolades at that point will have been enough). Worse case IMO 1 more major and 6 wins. 5 majors and 17 wins is ridiculous. -
http://www.businessinsider.com/jordan-spieth-2015-season-unrealistic-2016-9 Some really good points, worth the read. Not a Spieth guy at all, in fact one of the golfers I actively root against, but......... He is one of the greatest at the moment, but the expectations put on this kid are completely overblown.

Pulling for Rory in this one for sure. Not sure how the Fedex points stack, but if he wins this and wins the 10,000,000 this will further his legacy as one of the all time greats, and he is only 27..... If DJ can win this would really put a fat ! to cap off his season. (I don't acknowledge the wraparound). -
DJ seems to have this thing wrapped up, unless Casey comes on strong. I just don't see Casey as a finisher...... This may wrap up player of the year for DJ, 3 wins and a major. I believe Day has 3 wins with a Players... DJ get's it
-
Sure there always has to be a winner and Rahm win's this contest but the wrist bend with the chicken wing finishes is horrendous. It wouldn't surprise me if Spieth and Daly finish with the same amount of majors when their respective career's are complete.
-
Agreed These players now a days who have the abbreviated backswing don't do it for me. John Rahm, Spieth etc.... Any of those that don't come at least parallel have UGLY swings. Reminds me of an amature on the muni links.
-
A couple of golfers come to mind with the information we have current state DJ is due for a another big tourney, with the weight of a major off of his shoulders he can pay freely and let his ability shine. Side note: He seems like a player where having a family will help his game. Adam Scott - Finished last week STRONG tied with Rory in the final round and won 2 tourneys this year. I think he has a few years left tops, ~2 but........ Could get close to 20 before it's said and done.... Would love for Howell III to win this tourney, supreme golfer but can't put 4 18's together. Not counting Kuchar out of this one. 7516 is a bit much but I like Matt for my sleeper to at least get into the top 5 (in the tourney) And of course there is Rory, he might end up being the streakiest golfer every to play when it's all said and done, he is my favorite to win this tourney.

Who is going to be the next big name in golf
Database Head replied to TripleEagle's topic in Tour Talk
John Rahm, guy has killer game with a short compact stoke. Not saying he is going to be the next Ernie Els, but he can win a major and win 5 - 7 tourneys IMO. Guys who are almost there but not quite, Patrick Reed, that's easy. Great irons I mean GREAT and a really nice putter, reallllly nice. Length is a killer, but his overall game gives him a Zach Johnson chance, (Not that I think he will achieve ~14 wins and 2 majors) LOL. Who does that?!
