  1. I liked his theory of keeping the club at the same plane ANGLE throughout the swing. I think with the grip being more in the left palm it helps keep the face open - something that is noticeable in the players at his junior academy. Very flat shafts and open clubfaces.
  2. Nice call MM - they did anchor their right foot into the ground. Hogan did it in his address position where he let his right knee come in a little bit before the takeaway. Moe's transition was the "horizontal tug and the vertical drop". The move left (horizontal tug) increased his wrist angle slightly and let his arms drop down a little (vertical drop) Try this drill my coach gave me. It really helps with the feeling of using your feet.
  3. Is the whole premise to look at the hole and why its good ? I have read some material by Bob Christina and he's well educated.
  4. Its all in the feet and how you can create pressure and get energy from the ground. In the hogan video, you can see that his right leg and hip actually move towards the target before the top of the backswing. The more angle there is in the back leg, the more you can push the inside of you back foot into the ground.
  5. divot are a good thing but its the depth that's important. If you can make an extension on your back yard by collecting your divots, that's a little too much. A great divot is more like turf disruption unless the fairways are lush and maybe wet. If you can look down in your divot and see some of the roots of the grass, that's a good depth. the divots get a little deeper as you move into your short irons. Johnny Miller was so fast with his body turn that the club came into the ball very shallow so his club Nearly picked it clean with his long irons. He had something worth replacing back into the earth when he hit wedge shots. If you don't take a divot, start by taking turf.. then add the ball.
  6. This is all too funny! How could this not be taken as a joke? I could really only understand any drama if the thread was "Feherty acted seriously today and he didn't make a single sarcastic comment!" This would give me reason for concern. He's nothing But jokes and just because he jokingly made a comment about about something concerning the government and the military does not require an apology, because THAT sounded serious. I guess its the same thing as saying 'bomb' on an airplane. You get clinked up for that one, so maybe there are special circumstances where its for our best interest (as a country) not to speak our mind... which we are entitled to.
  7. It sounds like you got a little Sevam1 info. He's right on with his talks about using the ground. You get a little of moe's personality there too... cool video. Hogan did this too. If you pause it at 1:08/1:09 you can see how he is getting his back leg into position to really push the ground. He had an extra spike put in his right shoe you know....
  8. I start by trying to make divots in the ground as far forward as I can. I'll start with an 8 iron and try to take a divot just in front of my left foot. I have to have the feeling that the divot is a 'straight' divot and not a thick one that is headed down the 3rd baseline (left). I also do a drill that my coach game me that helps me get the feeling of being where I should be when the club hits the ball After this, when I put the ball in the regular spot, it seems easy!
  9. I have been trying to take proper divots for the past month. My coach has me working on hitting a punch shot to get the right attack on the ball. Each club will have a different attack because of the length and the speed, but its been working very well
  10. That is the same drill my teacher gave me this winter, but I had to use my imagination. I tried not to bump the shaft up my right leg and I had to move in to the shaft outside my left leg. I'm right handed. the imaginary line up my back leg was angled toward the target but the line up my left leg was vertical, straight up from the outside of the left ankle. All while keeping my feet flat on the ground. I felt a big change in my speed.
  11. Hi! first reply here.... I am new to the game and have only taken lessons for 5 months and played by 20th game ever today. I shot 97. My teacher gives me 3 drills each month and one of them is to learn how to hit a punch shot. I look for my hands to be in front of the club or above the club head when I finish, so I have to stop the swing almost right after contact. I find that my ball really takes off when I do it right.
