  1. Was going to start a thread about this, but decided to just update my swing. This was tonight during a long practice session. I've been struggling big time with hitting down/ball first. As hard as I practice and try, I can't seem to get close to this position, even when trying to exaggerate it. I have some things I've been working on, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Also, does this type of change usually take a long time?
  2. Haven't chipped in a shot for as long as i can remember, but i did this past Sunday. I am not even sure if it is considered a "chip" in, but i have been working on some bump and runs with a 6 iron from the fringe lately. I was about 20-25 ft. out, bumped it on and watched it track down and in for par! Might not be super impressive, but i was stoked!
  3. Broke 90 again this week! 89, but i'll take it!
  4. Thanks for all of the info guys. Sounds like both are solid products. I think thats why it makes it a tough choice. Not sure what brings the premium price tag of Arccos? I think its because every club sensor has technology in it compared to GameGolf just having it in the belt clip. Probably just go with GameGolf to test the waters of shot tracking, the price point is very reasonable.
  5. Thanks for the info guys. @iacas so I'm guessing you enjoyed the use of Game Golf, have you noticed any issues with the use, glitchy, or anything that disrupts the round? I'm leaving towards GG over Arccos simply because I kind of like how the whole system is self contained in a way; tapping the device before a shot and not needing to have a phone in your pocket. @inthecup thoughts on Arccos?
  6. Forgive me if this has been discussed before, and feel free to point me to some threads that. It seems like they are both good options and very similar, even most of the pros and cons are similar; That's why I am curious if anyone has used both and has a simple recommendation. Few things that did stand out; With Arccos you have to keep your phone in your pocket and apparently the Android app is horrendous. It sounds like Arccos is a little more progressive with updates and adding new features (Caddie App), and their stat analysis being a little better? The GameGolf sensors have a tendency to break easier. GameGolf GPS and functionality can be a little quirky/buggy. Not sure if that stuff holds true, but some of the things I have seen. Oh and also Arccos is twice the price, $250 compared to $125 for GameGolf.
  7. True. Yeah I couldn't imagine taking lessons and not having a practice list.
  8. @coachjimsc Very cool reading through this thread. Your progression is motivating. Just curious, you show being 1.0 index now, where did you start 6 years ago?
  9. My instructor always makes a note list on what we worked on, why it is important and how i am going to practice it. The lesson is also recorded so i can refer back to it. Also a set of drill videos are provided that associate with what we worked on. So overall, i really don't get "homework", Its funny that i came across this topic, because at my last lesson he actually thanked me for practicing what we have been working on during the lessons (5th lesson). He said he can tell if someone is actually working hard on incorporating the lessons into their game, compared to others don't put in the time and simply blow it off. I know I would be upset if i was putting in the effort to help someones game and they were not. I would say there has been a good amount of repeat advice, but most of it is him analyzing my swing, and making suggestions, with a few new tips/suggestions/drills added in. I think its also important not to overload a person with too many new things to work on. When i start thinking too much, i typically play worse.
  10. @iacas Thanks for the welcome! Fair enough, that's why i am always a little hesitant with some of the things i read and incorporating them into what i am currently working on. I always run them by my instructor as well. I've only had 3 hours of instruction time from him, but i feel that i have a better base to build off of then i did before. Some of the main things that we have been working on are rotating wrists/forearm through impact (hence my main mishit is high right, followed by pull left, although i think the pull left is more improper body turn). The intention is to hit a draw. This goes with keeping my arms and club in front of my body, making sure i clear my body so i can rotate. I seem to have a lot of trouble with this. Working on, as mentioned above, not swaying the hips; trying to stay solid on my right leg. I saw some tips here on to flare my feet, which I have been trying to mix in. I also was reading a post today, Stubborn Steepness, which has me trying to analyze how i can do this more effectively. Another one of my weaknesses right now is getting a little to vertical in my downswing. I am going to try to figure out a way to take more video when i go to the range to see what's been going on.
  11. I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years; stopped playing for 4 years, started again last year. My current handicap index or average score is: low 90s high 80s My typical ball flight is: normal to high -- draw when struck correct The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: I will high push to the right when I don't turn on hands/arm/wrists over. I will also occasionally pull the ball to the left (opposite of what causes the high push). Videos: 1st is my first lesson. 2nd is after most recent lesson. I decided at the beginning of this year that i wanted to finally break down and get some lessons. I had always been a pretty decent golfer in high school, nothing great, but for the amount of time I put into it, i was able to score about the same as i am now. There was a few years where i didn't hardly play, so while I have played over the years, I didn't really progress. Right now we have been working on squaring the club face at impact, keeping my hands in front of my core/body, keeping a solid right leg/not swaying, and just keeping a stable core throughout the swing. Obviously, none of that is going to change quick, but I am trying to do as much practicing and take in as much good information as possible. I would say i have made good progress with the little amount of coaching I've had (this is the first time ever getting lessons too). The inconsistency is the toughest thing for me, i can have a really good day, followed by a day where it seems like solid contact is impossible. I still have a ways to go, but I just wanted to see what advice you guys might have for me! Appreciate any advice. Ryan
