  1. At the range I pretend that I'm playing a round. Let's start by picturing a par four. I'll hit a drive, then a mid-iron. Then I might switch back to driver or hit a wedge, depending on my mood (did I get on in regulation, or did I miss the green?) Then I may hit a long iron to simulate a par 3. Then maybe I'll hit driver, hybrid, PW on a "par 5". I'll also toss in punch shots when I hit a bad drive and "miss the fairway", etc. Whatever you do, make sure to pick out specific targets and treat hitting or missing them as though you hit/missed the fairway or green.
  2. Sorry to hear it. In situations like that I always let my wallet do the talking. I'd rather go to a normal course that allowed people to start at 1 or 10 than to have a near 8-hour round of 18. In the end though, you were still playing golf so it can't be all that bad right?
  3. I owned an Ogio Grom for about 3 months, and while it had some really great features and looked fantastic I got sick of grip tangle. I sold it and got a Nike Sasquatch Tour stand bag. The Nike has plenty of great features too, most importantly the 14 full length dividers that keep each club separate.
  4. A 14-way divider system makes life easy :). (Top row is driver, putter, 4 wood)
  5. I recently replaced a 3 and 5 wood with a 4 wood and 58* wedge - best decision I ever made.
  6. Agreed. The G10s don't hit themselves like some of the "super G.I." irons do. You'll still get feedback on mishits without being completely punished by dead shot, and pure shots feel great. I'd go with the G10s if for no other reason than the long irons will be a bit easier to hit.
  7. Nah, this one is cleared up pretty quickly by paying attention and applying a little common sense ;).
  8. He was within earshot of the gallery, so I'd imagine it would be quite easy to hear from where he was. If it was Tiger we wouldn't have heard it as loudly as we did. If a mic had been pointed at him to pick it up we would have heard his and Stevie's laughter afterwards as well, but we didn't.
  9. Ping's G10 5 wood is 18.5*, but they don't call it strong.
  10. Have you hit your irons yet? Do you feel that they are too short (do you feel that you are too slumped/cramped in your stance or have to stand too close to the ball)? If they are already .5" longer than standard I'd assume that would be enough unless you're around 6'3" tall or over.
  11. It's actually pretty good, not quite as nice as the ball silo that Ogio uses but it's easy to get the balls in and out with no worry of them falling out on their own.
  12. Well, the Nike SQ Tour I ordered to replace my Ogio Grom got here yesterday, all I can say is that I'm very happy. Like a previous poster said, from now on a 14-way divider system will be a must-have on any future bag I own. I took the straps off for these quick photos:
  13. All three of my graphite-shafted clubs (driver, 4 wood, hybrid) have the same shaft - Ping's TFC129 stiff. I hit the driver nice and straight or the occasional fade, and the hybrid is also dead straight. But the 4 wood is almost always a slight fade, and every now and then a nasty duck hook shows its face. Please note that it is *not* a draw version. I've read some thoughts that the wrong shaft flex could be the problem, does that hold any water? I'm setting up with the same grip I use for my driver, and have the ball about half a ball further back in my stance (just inside my left instep). The stiff shaft works well for me on the driver and hybrid, perhaps I need an XStiff or one of the non-OEM shafts in the 4-wood? Thoughts? Anyone else run into this with the G10 fairway woods?
  14. I had an Ogio Grom and liked it a lot, it had a lot of very handy features and was very comfortable. It was a 2009 model with the new leg design and I never had any issues with it. However, I got tired of grip tangle and decided to swap for something with a 14-way divider system. So, I sold it and picked up a Nike Sasquatch Tour stand bag. My wife and I got one for her dad for Father's Day this year and I was very impressed with it, so it was my first option when I went looking. Sun Mountain has two bags with 14-way dividers, the Four 5 and the MPB.
  15. I assumed that was just the shaft "kicking" as they started to release their hands, since we're seeing it right around the time of impact. I also assumed it was probably embellished by the camera somewhat.
  16. End of thread
  17. I'm sure they're out there, like I said a large graphic design firm could easily have that many users and be running Macs.
  18. Walk into a high-end graphics studio and chances are good you'll see Macs, some music recording studios as well. The university campus here in town also has at least one large Mac-only computer lab, and has them scattered around elsewhere.
  19. Well the proof is in the scorecard. I went out after work today and shot a 44 on 9 holes - beating my previous best on that course by 7 strokes. I hit 4 of 7 fairways and only one GIR (ouch), but also only had 14 putts instead of my usual 20+. I had much better distance and speed control with this than I did with the Odyssey. It was a cool putter for sure, just didn't fit my game very well it seems.
  20. As much as I loved the look of the White Hot XG9 I picked up a couple of months ago, I just couldn't get along with that insert. Felt nice and soft, but I was terribly inconsistent distance-wise because of it. So, I went to a local shop on my lunch break today with it in-hand as trade bait. They had a nice selection and I hit quite a few (including my first taste of a Heavy Putter, holy *%&^ they are aptly named) and wound up walking out with a Karsten Series Anser. I think the blade style fits my stroke better, and it's got a great feel. No insert means it's not overly soft, but the medallion on the back dampens excess vibration without killing too much feedback. I also liked the Karsten C67, but in the end the heel-shafted Anser stole the show. The magnetic headcover is pretty cool too, nice idea.
  21. If you can, pick up a sleeve of the Nike One Tour D and try them out. I've been pleasantly surprised at their combination of distance off the tee and control/spin around the green.
  22. I would think that a 9 handicap wouldn't need the kind of super game improvement that a full set of hybrid irons provides. It's not like some sets where the longer irons are hybrids and the rest are cavity backs - here the each club is a hybrid. Someone more skilled would probably not like the higher ball flight and the lack of workability.
  23. Tees, six or seven extra balls, an extra glove, sunscreen, a bottle of water, the bag's rain hood, and a towel on the outside.
  24. The gap wedge is higher degree loft, so it should naturally travel a shorter distance than the PW. Same reason your 8 travels further than your 9, etc. The extra shaft length may add some distance to it, but you can always choke down on it or have it cut down and re-gripped.
  25. I can see that to a certain extent, but - at least in the *nix world - if you're unsure how to use a specific command you can usually just "man " and pull up all the instructions you'll need. It's my opinion that getting your hands dirty at the CLI also helps you understand your system better, as opposed to just clicking "next" all the time. I know that's a gross over-generalization, I'm just embellishing to make a point . It's honestly a preference thing, both ways have their benefits and can be used effectively.
