  2. The best way I’ve found to deal with impatiant groups, is to ask them if they want to play through. If they see you’re keeping right up with the group in front, they’ll typically say no. They won’t want the pressure of you now being behind them watching and judging. Basically turn the tables on them.
  3. Hi Thriller, did you ever sort this out? Any tips? the exact same thing has been happening to me! It’s so frustrating! see my vid and post below. If you have any advice that’d be great. Some of my issue was my swing path, see the tips I got in the thread below (may help you)
  4. I have the exact same issue happening from time to time. Anyone on the thread can see my swing video here: Not sure if it’s top spin or an in to out path. I thought it was the path, but seems I’ve stopped the in to put and still getting the nose dive drives ?
  5. Ya that's totally overboard and you open yourself up to be ridiculed (deservedly so) and jinx yourself...by complaining and then still hitting a stinker. my buddy today was right behind me AND he has a habit of practing his swing back there - double distracting for me. He doesn't even realize he's doing it, but he moved without question when I asked.
  6. Good point about a Preshot routine. I have 'friends' that try to get into my head too, I'll work on that Preshot routine!
  7. What etiquette should be used on the tee box? I personally don't like it when someone stands behind me, in the peripheral of my backswing. I feel like a bit of jerk asking people to move, so typically try to just ignore it.
  8. Unbelievable! Lol I would not want to dig around that lost and found box! Goth and golf just dont seem to go together! Lol
  9. Wow!! Did he finish his round? reminds me of a golf joke: Fred got home from his Sunday round of golf later than normal and very tired. "Bad day at the course?" his wife asked. "Everything was going fine," he said. "Then Harry had a heart attack and died on the 10th tee." "Oh, that's awful!" "You're not kidding. For the whole back nine it was hit the ball, drag Harry, hit the ball, drag Harry."
  10. Lol, that is disgusting! Guessing you were looking for a ball in the woods.
  11. I've found: 2 e-cigs (one wasn't used for tobacco) baby stroller in the bush
  12. Thanks! I'll be back the breaking 80 one soon!! :)
  13. Hi, i broke 90 had 2 eagles
  14. I also find it helpful when reviewing the video (when filming in slow motion - where there's no audio), to use hand signals i.e thumbs up or point to the right so you know what type of shot it was.
  15. Right, I see your points. I plan to use that 5 o'clock feeling for now, while I try to get better with the more nuetral grip. As I think doing the clock thing will never yield 300+ yard drives for me, because I probably won't be able to generate the club head speed.
  16. That was crazy! Looked like it came off the toe. The commentators said it could have went back down the gulley if the cameraman didn't move, implying he'd have to play it from wherever it ended up.
  17. Hi @downbylaw11 Yes that's exactly what I'm talking about. I'm going for the 5 to over compensate and correct the extreme in to out path I had. I would guess when I actually hit the ball it's closer to the 6 o'clock.
  18. Problem solved! (For now :)) main problem seems to be the too if an inside out path. The 45 degree stick drill worked great! Thanks @iacas @downbylaw11 I also corrected the path by attacking the ball from 5 o'clock. It was another tip I saw and basically you imagine your standing on a clock with 6 o'clock being directly behind the ball. Then on the way down you simply focus on hitting the ball at 5. I also opened my stance a little. Was a little push, slice or fade flight.....but waaaaaay better contact! i didnt weaken my grip that much with the driver. I was talking to the golf pro at the range today and he said it would be easier to tinker with the right hand grip with my higher irons. So I did and started hitting some shanks! I could easily solve the shank by addressing the ball off off the hosel and feel like coming to toe in follow through and / or close the face at address. So I can live with that - but hate the thiught of a shank even being a slight possibility in my swing eeek!!
  19. Thanks for the article @hardspoon good point! So I'm just getting lucky from time to time.
  20. I hear ya @downbylaw11 i was working on a drill where you just try to hit the driver nice and easy to about 100 yards and was getting nice contact and straight ball flight, but ya when I go to full swing all is lost ? Thanks and I will keep this post updated with how it goes
  21. Haha that's a great story! Good job!@downbylaw11 I'm thinking of ditching the driver too. At least for a 4 day guys gilf trip I have coming up. But it's 'driving' me nuts as my driver was my easiest most reliable club to hit! ....ticketing and trying to fix one flaw, created me a $hit storm of problems. That's golf I guess ?
  22. Thanks the grip tips @downbylaw11 i think the right hand wrapped under the club is a fairly new thing for me and may be a major contributor to the issue. I can't tell for sure in my older videos if that's something I was doing before - but I don't think so. Weakening the left hand grip feels really foreign to me, so I think I've always had a fairly strong grip and was getting acceptable results (by my standards) I will try tinkering with the right hand grip more....fingers crossed!!
  23. Thanks @downbylaw11 i try to be relaxed, but I think you're right I get too tense at times (ie the bad drive). I was consciously trying to relax my arms that day - but guessing it was hit or miss (pardon the pun). I actually did try just some loose whippet swings and was getting better results, so ya I tend to agree. i have also tried to forget about this hitting up so much (as I agree top spin has to be one of the main things causing this nose dive ball flight - also assume coupled with closed face could compound the issue) so yes I will try weaken grip, less tilt, less tension and let the forward ball position promote the 'hitting on the up 'affect. btw I bought new 3 wood today (first time with one) and wears striping it 220-240...so I have that to fall back on?
  24. Thanks @iacas I was only looking at the left hand! Didn't really consider the right hand grip. I will check it out!
  25. Hi @downbylaw11 and @iacas i actually have 2 face on view videos...one yeilded a good result of about 240 yards and the other was the bad. Use dive drive. heres the bad: heres the good: problem is I can't really see the difference and I can't repeat the 'good' swing with any consistency. I see maybe a weaker grip and less hip shift to the right (better hip turn) on the good one. What do you guys see here? I don't like my balance on the follow through if either swing - guess as you say I need to go back to basics here. Thanks again for all the advice much appreciated! Golf is one of my greatest joys in life and it's hard to enjoy anymore with this issue.
