  1. I just went through this exact same problem. My problem was I was hitting the ball more off the toe instead of in the center of the face. Put some dry erase marker on a ball and see where on the face you are making contact.
  2. I hit some clubs last week. I am leaning towards the AP2. The biggest reason I am thinking about switching is getting custom fitted. I think I might need a slightly longer shaft. Do you guys think Golf Galaxy fitting would be good enough? I noticed that Titleist Fittingworks has advanced fitters (sadly though none in my state). Should I wait and hunt down the traveling fitting bus (or demo day) or should I just go with Golf Galaxy? I am in MN if that means anything to anyone. I wouldn't mind going to a Country Club or local course if anyone had recommendations.
  3. I had a TaylorMade R5 N Dual. I just upgraded last week to the TaylorMade Superfast. The first time out I hit some of the farthest drives of my life. I normally hit 300+ when I belt it but I was hitting it further than that. There were at least 4 times that I was in the 320 range. I realize I sound like an advert but I hit it much better. The crazy thing is it seems more accurate as well. I was worried with the lightness and the longer shaft but everything about it has been better. My vote is to go for it!!! FYI - Golf Galaxy has a $50 gift card deal right now on the superfast
  4. I just bought a new Taylormade Burner Superfast. It is much longer than my R5 that I replaced it with. Now I am on the new club train. If I can buy better irons I will. I am currently playing Tommy Armour 845 Silver Scotts. The original smaller head. I do not care about distance gains. I hit my 9 iron 150 yrds and would want to be around the same length with my new irons. I would be looking for more forgiveness for off-center hits and straighter irons overall. For the most part I would be happy to hit my irons dead straight. I played a round with the Taylormade Tour Preferred. They were nice and felt really similar to my old irons. The new R9 TP's look nice as well. Has anyone hit both and have an opinion/preference? Any other irons I should hit before I pull the trigger? Thanks!
  5. I still play 845 Silver Scots. The first set I ever played was actually a knock off set of 845s. After that I replaced them with the legitimate version. So I have been playing with the same set (essentially) for as long as I have played golf ~20 years. Back when I got them they were matte grey . I have worn them down to a smooth silver. Lately I have been considering swapping them out but it's hard when they are so comfortable.
  6. Dan - Not sure about Theodore Wirth. I haven't played it in a few years. I grew up on the range though so I know most of the courses up there.
  7. Sounds like a plan. I get out every weekend so another time should work fine. I don't think I have made it to Willingers so that might be fun. I am busy this upcoming weekend (playing in a scramble) but free the next. We can chat closer to then if you are free.
  8. Anybody up for a round this Saturday? 30 year old guy looking to meet some new golfers. I am around a 10 handicap & trying to get better. Happy to play with any ability golfers. I would consider myself a competitive golfer that is trying hard to improve. I don't throw fits/clubs if I miss a shot. I am willing to play anywhere in the metro that is in the $60 or less range. I do have the MN Golf card. So if that worked out we could get 1/2 off depending on where we play. http://www.minnesotagolfcard.com/googlemap.php Courses I have played recently: Braemar, Hiawatha, Stonebrooke, etc. good times, Reid
  9. Mine this year at The Wilderness at Fortune Bay - Tower, Minnesota. I drove the green on a 325 yard par 4 (#13). It hit near the pin and rolled to the back of the green. The drive was around 340 yards. http://www.golfthewilderness.com/lay...=215&page;=6692
  10. Thanks guys. I ended up going with the GolfLogix GPS . Amazon is selling it for around $220 right now. I also bought some new Callaway Tour ix balls. What sold me on it was the GPS was the ability to get the yardages of the last shot hit. I have been trying to dial in my yardages more accurately and have been looking for a way to get more feedback than a session at the typical range. Don't tell the wife but I will probably pick up a gap wedge too. My Wedge is 48° and my current SW is 56°. I also agree about the lessons. They are on the list for the summer as well :) good times -
  11. I have about $300 to spend. I am happy with my irons/putter/3 wood/utility. Any advice would be appreciated. Here is what I am considering: Should I buy a new driver ? Golf Galaxy has a new Nike thats $200 and a R7 limited thats $200. If I bought a driver I would be looking more for less spin than for more distance. Although distance is cool too :) Should I buy a rangefinder & a medicus ? Walmart is selling the Bushnell Scout 1000 for around $200. I don't have a GPS or rangefinder currently. The medicus is something that I have always considered picking up. Should I buy a couple of new wedges - maybe a gap and a new SW? I would probably get Vokey spin milled. I carry 13 clubs currently so I am considering adding a wedge and replacing my SW (it's not too worn). -
  12. Yes the $20 one won't work. About the only way to go any cheaper would be to buy a non golf rangefinder. If you get one used for hunting it will be cheaper and the only thing you will miss is the pin seeking tech and slope adjustments.
  13. I wouldn't sharpen them either. It seems like it would be waaay too hard to make them consistent.
  14. Jack because he is more in touch with the general public. Golf My Way is something that Jack wrote (with Bowden) while all of Tiger's stuff is written by people for him.
  15. learn exact yardages for my clubs get a new driver/ball (with fitting) shoot consistently in the 70s practice consistently (5 days a week in the morning & at lunch)
