  1. I never contacted the site and with the price it was a gamble anyway. The defect was mfgr and I don't want to cause the site any grief or loss for something that doesn't warrant it. If I had paid $50 it would be different but since I paid literally a couple dollars (pre shipping) it isn't. The club was in brand new condition(visibly), listed as no return on ebay, and was I'm sure just a bad apple past warranty. Now I can learn something new and can install the shaft I want. Not ideal, but it works for me.
  2. Orlimar said it was a 10 year old model so it was past warranty(didn't think it was only hit 3x ). Would be around $50 to have them reshaft it so I'll just use this opportunity to learn how. I forgot to ask so I sent another email asking about the tip size.
  3. It kinda wobbles, but such a small amount you wouldn't notice if you weren't specifically looking for it.
  4. I am gonna try to get ahold of Orlimar tomorrow and see what they say. Worst case scenario, I reshaft it and I just bought a head. Gotta remember to ask them the tip size.
  5. I got out the tape measure because I read that too small a shaft can (obviously) cause this problem. I got exactly: -tip 5/16 inch Diameter -Hosel 6/16 inch Diameter I know that if they are the same size they won't go together, but is this ratio right? (I'm just a hair to the left of center but it's hard to hold and snap) (I'm a hair low on the tip but it lines up to 5/16) I cleaned out the hosel with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol (still a little glue) And the Shaft with Rubbing alcohol and toilet paper (wrapped it to hold it on) I don't think any of the shaft other than color from rub was in the hosel. Do you think it was just the glue, not prepped properly, or wrong sizes? Which tip size do I need if I replace the shaft? I'm new to this stuff. Thanks!
  6. Average hands. I like midsize tour wraps.
  7. Just got this club brand new, great deal from a reputable site. I took it out on the driving range and on the 3rd time swinging it the head flew off (I think the head went farther than the ball lol). It's an Orlimar Odonnel Triumph 3 Wood. I had an Orlimar trimetal driver I liked, and my friend had a Fairway Wood he liked by them too.... I think the Glue was just bad. I ended up having a bad round because I didn't have a long ball club, and then when I got home I dropped the head on the sidewalk and scuffed the side even though it was in the bubble wrap that it came in My question is, How easy would it be for me to fix this glue problem? I might install a different shaft since the original shaft was a reg and I'm used to stiff. Hit 3 times Dropped it, probably no return now... thanks jumpy dog!
  8. When I hit really good with my Irons but can't chip.... so I practice chipping....then I chip well, but can't hit Irons... then I get really good drives and can't hit anything else..... ...and putting.
  9. Your avatar fits your comment
  10. Wasn't me but I was there. I just finished at the driving range and was walking to the practice greens not paying attention, when..... I hear a loud "BANG"! I look up and one of the attractive blondes who work at the course had just run her golf cart into a parked one...... Glad she wasn't hurt.
  11. 284 yard drive that ended 5 feet from the cup......3 putted for par
  12. A few things that helped me. Make sure your feet are BOTH parallel to the ball line, I had my right foot back a bit for the longest time. Check that you aren't tensing up your grip when you swing, I kept doing this and bringing my club toward me on the downswing. Don't stand too far from the ball as you will be reaching for it and anything could really happen based on the rest of your swing. All of these things made me hit close to the toe of the club which made it slice ( I think I have an outside in swing). Most people I see set up take a couple practice swings, then step to the ball.... I start AT the ball and take a few slower practice swings and stop my swing just before I hit the ball (yes occasionally I tap the ball if I'm not looking and have to reset everything). I keep taking practice swings until everything feels right, then when everything feels good at the top of the backswing, THEN I let it go all the way. If I can't get a good feel, I step back and reset.
  13. Putting- esp. when you have the right aim, or speed, but it stops just short one way or the other Something I thought of that might help some inconsistency you guys (including me) have is maybe at the range, set up an imaginary hole. Drive, guess the distance, pick a spot that should be the same distance (a ball or marker on the range) try to hit it till you get to the "green" then use a pocket hole (like from wal-mart) if the grass isn't too tall, or walk over to the putting green if it is close and guess the distance. Viola! simulated hole for 10 cents. Gonna try it next time I hit the range.
  14. Geese Turtles Copperhead- between 5th and 6th hole there is a concrete bridge that sticks about 2 feet above the creek water... he hangs out under there. Beavers have it dammed up just downstream think that's why they like it there.
  15. Few days ago, but: 43 on 1st 9. Missed an eagle on a par 4 and a birdie on another par 4. 50 on 2nd 9 9 hole course 2x through par 70 total. I gotta improve my short game lol
  16. Thanks for the golfballs101.com link, added a few to my list. Also, I have some balls that just say "MOJO", no Nike symbol. Are they Nike balls even without the swoosh, or some knockoff?
  17. I retrieve a lot of balls and I keep pulling out the best ones I know of (proV1 hxHot etc) that I see on Golf Digest hotlist and other places. I don't sell them, I am just saving them so when I get good enough, I have them and can try them and find one I like. I don't want to hit any decent balls into any lakes though, so does anyone know of a site that might have a ranking list for many different balls? There are just so many different ones. An example, I played a few really good holes with an HP2 Tour before it bounced off the green and into the woods... but I don't see it on any lists.
  18. I don't mean putting flames on it or anything.... Just like a couple of lines on the crown so I can set up a little quicker/more consistent. Would this (or getting creative) affect the COR or anything?
  19. What I use is listed above, what is available is Putter-----TM Spider Driver-----Titleist 983e (8.5*) 4 Wood 18*----Taylormade Burner Tour 5Hybrid 25*----Intech 5 Iron 26*-----Tour Craft Oversize 6 Iron 29*------Callaway X-16 7 Iron (33*)---Golden Bear Chipper (37*?)--Dunlop 9 Iron (41*)---Taylormade Burner Oversize 50* wedge-----Callaway X-16 52* wedge-----Callaway f2 (little weird) 55* SW--------Callaway Big Bertha 60* Wedge-----D&M; 6*bounce (only one I know offhand) It is a mixed bunch, I am getting a Larger bag this weekend, so yes, I was going for light . I got the 5,6,50, 52, and hybrid from 2 course's finder bags (guess they probably shouldn't have done that). I have a baby coming in a few months, so I'm not currently able to drop $400-1000 on a set of matching Irons. I may just get matching grips or try to pick up them up on ebay 1 at a time(same set) for now. I was using the wrong chart from wiki, fixed. So far, at least get a PW and 21* Hybrid right? Guess I drop the 52 and go 50,55,60? Edit-On the Hybrid, would anything 20-23* be ok? The old one is very rough- chipped shaft etc. easily replaceable. Looking at 3dx's. Thanks
  20. 1st year golfer. Hitting 95-105. My bag atm contains Putter-----TM Spider Driver-----Titleist 983e 4 Wood 18* 5Hybrid 25* 7 Iron (34*?) Chipper (37*?) 9 Iron (44*?) 52* wedge 60* Wedge It's a mixed up set... I gave my PW away since the difference was only 3* to my 9 iron and replaced it with the 52*. I still haven't really used either the 52* or the 5 hybrid much. The chipper was a gift, and seems good for close shots on flat surfaces. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  21. I've seen videos/articles saying that you should hit every club the same, or that you should hit these clubs different than those... I find that I hit woods better with a relaxed, lower stance, and Irons better with a taller more down approach. If I try to hit my irons (I only use #7 & 9) like my driver I tend to not get under them. Many will say do what works for you... Which technique do you use, and do you think it would be better long-term to work on hitting my irons like my woods, or just keep doing what works now?
  22. As I was reading this I remembered back in the day, I was at a sports card shop and noticed the prices on Beanie Babies. I asked about them and the clerk told me many things including how TY was in trouble for their aftermarket price list that they were enforcing. I was trying to find a link for it, but it doesn't matter because of this: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news0...ce_fixing.html
  23. He was curious about the inside of the ball... after it's been knocked around or submerged, how does it hold up. 3:10-3:30 will give you a feel for his concern
  24. One of my local courses let me go into the woods/creek and get golf balls, I have a pro-v1 (creek pull) that has dirt caked on pretty well, which is a sign of long submersion. If you want, I can cut it open with a saw zaw and post pics. If you can think of a better way, I can try it instead. Other than the dirt it is in good condition.
