  1. Wow how could watch me play from Ky !!! LOL I agree 110% with you. Sometimes miss hit balls leave me in better shape,( 80 - 90 yds out ) rather than 20 yds out. There is where I have probs. JoelDuffer
  2. Crap,,, some times the Reds are my second shot!!!!!! Tee He,,,,tee hee,,ho ho ho ROFL,,,,,,JoelDuffer
  3. Yes all true I have raced go-karts in my past life and as with golf if you thought you are as good (or FAST) as you will ever be it changes from hobby/fun in to something that takes up your time.(IMHO) At 50 yrs. old i do not react as fast as a 18yr. old does on the track, yet I have seen things that I can react quicker to because of my experiance. May not make any sence to others but I relate it to my golfing. (Or what ever some might call it) I may not always drive the fairway, but I can get back to it. Bottom line, racing is a gas, abit a younger mans(persons) sport but not the dertiming factor ( look at Mark Martin in NASCAR) as golf's Tom Watson, shooting better will aways be a goal, the fact that we may get there is another story With a love of my hobbies, JoelDuffer

    Rant: Chewers

i just hate it when things like this come up in this place. #1. Thread started about seed shells, I agree not the best thing on greens( not that they will make a huge diff in my score, could even help on one of many mis-aimed putts. #2. Must remove trees and brush from course so as not to have leaves and twigs on green. May also reduce bird droppings that may impeid rolling balls or make people sick. (also may reduces temptation for people to relieve them selves behind) # Clubhouse must have on staff mental health profesonals to deal with golfers feeling like they are in the great out-doors and not setting behind a computer stirring up others with absurd moral judgements. With tounge planted firmly in cheek, JoelDuffer
  5. Hello and Welcome!!
  6. As stated by others, at this point I guess I am a person that plays a game that resembles GOLF. My scores havent changed much this year but I am playing much better than last year. I know that I am not playing by the sacred RULES OF THE GAME but I guess I am only cheating my self. I remember my bad shots and my good ones. I play for the fun and love of the game. I know that some one will blast me for this next one. For me, at this point, if counting every shot/swing I would need bigger boxes on the score card. I have been known to use a foot wedge or just drop in a better lie just to get on with the round. I guess I dont really call it cheating but to the purests it is. So be it. But that said, I would love to play with some of the posters here and would play a mutualy agreed to scored game, however tight or loose to the rules just to be playing GOLF, by any definition. Happy Golfing or what ever you chose to call your game.
  7. These are very, very cheap, and are apparently made for tall people. How do they look? http://cgi.ebay.com/CONFIDENCE-CG-46...3%3A1|294%3A50 IMHO I would look for/at the +1 clubs as I am also talll and my clubs are standard. The little bit more cash will be worth it. I am also new at golfing. My clubs are too short in my opinion. and I think that it hurts my game. (Will be adding shaft extenions when I re-grip soon) Good luck and happy golfing !!
  8. Is "The Foursome" thought of as a "golf" movie or just a movie with golf in it?
  9. WoW Those even have got me thinking !!
  10. I know the head brands are obcsure but the graphite shafts tells me someone "made up" the woods and rescue. Am I corect in thinking that ?
  11. Well I have read a lot of the posts on this GREAT site and i thought that it was time to post a bit about my sticks and my game. First the clubs; DRIVER: WalMart SIEGE Clone 10.5º @ 45" 460cc #1 WOOD "ACCUZONE" 9.5º @44 1/4" ALDILA VX Intermediate #3 WOOD "ACCUZONE" 13º @43 1/4" ALDILA VX Intermediate 2-9,PW,SW IRONS "TOUR MODEL II" Black Dot TRUE TEMPER Dynamic (3I @38 1/2" - 9I @35 1/2") RESCUE/HYB "THE GREAT ESCAPE" (SG tm) 24º @41 1/4" Leyland 2.8 S PUTTER SENATOR V(5) @35" The Big driver was longer when I bought it but I broke it at the hostel. I drilled out the head, cut the shaft square and epoxyed back in place. I think i lost about an 1 1/4" and seems to be a better club now than before. (Iguess I am a clubmaker ) If any one can tell me more about these clubs please do. (mfg., age, ect.) ME: 6' 5" tall Wrist to floor = 38 3/4" Longest finger to floor = 30 1/4" I have never really been fitted but I stopped one rainy day at a Golfsomething store in Joplin Mo. about 1yr. ago. I had just started golfing regulary even though I have had these clubs (less the BIG one) for about 8 yrs. The store had a swing booth and I took a couple of swipes with some diff. clubs and was told politely that I prob need at least +1" and take some lessons. I have over 40 rounds sence then and I practice w/wiffle balls and sometimes real balls at a local high school complex. My game has improved a bunch and prob. only a 28-30 hdcp. . I have stoped slicing for the most part but still hit both fat and thin. If you ask any distances it would be hard to say as dist. is so inconstent. I think between shot(hard & too small) grips and clubs that "I" feel are to short there is a better game lurking within me. (Better be or the whole lot is going in to the pond ) I know the top end of my set is a little funnky but I have some plans for working on that after I add 1 1/2" to the butts of my irons and re-grip the whole set. The club I hit the best is that Great Escape thing, just seem to square most often. I use it alot, I just change the ball pos. for diff. shots and works well coming out of the rough. (witch I seem to find once in a while) The Irons, I feel like i am a dog doing his duty, all squated down. I can hit them but the squat leads to the thin/fat prob IMHO. Also if and when I keep my tempo in check things seem to work a lot better. Thank for listening and I welcome any and all thoughts. JoelDuffer
  12. My Thoughts also,, I am working up a set of Golfworks/Maltby clubs that I will soon buy. Till then I will beat up clone/knock offs that I have. They (my Tour Model II's) seem to be able to make divots, hook and slice just as good as my buddy with his Pings. The bad part is I have to buy the beer because he's out of cash !! (HEheHE,,,burp)
  13. O.K This one made me mad. Unless you are naturaly gifted, a lot of us (36 hdcp'rs) started with a high hdcp. I hope that I never run into the likes of you on a course. "To the moon with you". Snobs like you grind my @%$. Maybe your efforts would be put to better use helping high hdcp players with the game instead of beating us up. (I'm OK now, I have vented, sorry.) I would like to have a range finder so I could find my club/yardage average. That way I "wont" beat up on sprinkler heads.(or other peoples heads) OOps there I went again) 2 cents & change. JDB
  14. I know that on the course my tempo is my biggest frustration. Hit wiffel balls at home with amazing regularity.(for me anyway ;) ) but lose all timing when it really counts. I play alone alot because I play when I can get to the course. So when a group of blue haired old gals shooting off of the reg. tees chases me around the course I REALLY lose my tempo (temper ?) Making just enough good shots to keep me from tossing the whole bag in to the stinking lake. Frustrating
  15. Ahhh yes,,, I understand what you are getting at. Thanks
