  1. I'll carry 205 with a good swing on it. Taylor Made Burner, Regular flex.
  2. Because when you aim for the middle and you miss left, you hit an obstacle. When you aim down the middle and miss right you hit an obstacle. If you play a fade or draw and miss you're not as likely to be in the junk. Why? Because of the angle the ball comes in. Think about this for a second. If you tee off and expect a straight shot, the fairway is only as wide as it is. However, if you play a fade or a draw the fairway suddenly becomes a very wide thing indeed. The ball is coming in at an angle from the side and now you have a lot of margin of error. In effect, the fairway becomes as wide as it is long. If you draw it too much it's gonna be on the left side of the fairway. If you don't draw it enough, it's probably on the right side. I find it hard to miss as much with a draw because of the conscious effort to work the ball. I work it too much or not enough but I don't ever end up to the right and I don't usually miss by hitting a straight shot. It isn't a panacea and I miss plenty of things but I hit a lot more often than when I always went for a straight shot. I'm not saying don't ever play a straight shot. I play straight shots a lot. But I can draw the ball (and actually my typical shot has a small draw in it) reliably since putting deliberate spin on the ball is easier than trying to not put any on it. If I'm trying to not put any on it there is a small target on the ball where it musty be struck. If I'm OK with putting spin on it then I'm setting up for a shot that is expecting that and if I miss I may put too little or too much but I have a larger window of error here. And since I'm going that way, I know for certain I won't miss the other way. I agree, a fundamental golf swing that the golfer is conscious of and can self diagnose is the most important thing. I wouldn't worry about shaping a shot until a repeatable straight shot is burned in. For the advanced golfer though, I'd learn to hit a draw or fade and eventually both and use when needed. It makes the fairways super wide and allows you to attack the ball from a certain side making the ball target larger as well.

    Rivalrys

Great rivalries come and go. First of all, both teams have to be good. Yeah, we all love the old classics that everyone has mentioned here, but they're only relevant if both teams are good for some amount of time. And they have to have a real hatred for each other. And 1 teams has to be the one that is always slightly underdogged and just can't get ahead. So in the last few years or so I'd go with: Pistons/Pacers. Ended in a huge brawl that was the beginning of the end for the Pacers. I don't even like either team, but those games were more intense than any other. Crazy. Red Wings/Avalanche was pretty crazy too. Hockey, fight, hockey, fight, fight, hockey. Baseball doesn't bring it like it used to. Teams don't fight as much. Sox/Yankees was pretty good before the Sox were champions. Those teams hated each other and had a huge brawl. The NFL is harder because you don't always get to play a lot. I'd probably go with Patriots/Colts but I'm not sure there was a lot of hatred there. Packers/Vikings has been pretty crazy over the last 15 years. Players getting into fights with fans, teams taking others legendary QB's. Moss mooning the fans and then having their bus trashed. Been a lot of craziness between these 2 teams fans.
  4. You must be new to the internet. Sarcasm is indicated by a ':P' emote. That is translated to here. This has been a standard for a long time in this interconnected world. It's sort of universally known and it is expected from others using this tool to understand the vernacular. l2emote, n00b.
  5. Good, you have the right attitude to succeed at competition then. Unfortunately, some others here apparently don't and are easily set off by little things that any person not scared of their abilities would find more gamey than anything. It's sad so many still need encouragements from their fathers and hugs from their mothers to feel confident. Sad, sad people. Good luck!
  6. Gimmie a break and stop projecting your own fears on others. I'm not sure grown people need a silly "go get 'em, you're the best!!!" speech. A little taunting is good for a competitor. This isn't pre-school.
  7. I'm wondering if we're missing something all together. It would all make sense if "The batter becomes a runner "when he hits a fair ball"." wasn't in the rules. It almost makes "A batter is out when...he or first base is tagged before he touches first base." sound useless. Like it never applies. Since the batter becomes a runner when the ball is fair.

    Rules...

So long as he isn't using them while he hits I don't think it's a problem at all. I mean, he could just as well walk to where he was looking but of course the binoculars save time.
  9. The implies it was sarcastic.
  10. So what happens if you absolutly suck at driving that day? Just think about, those other 3 guys are going to be counting on you to drive well so every single drive will be a high pressure shot. And the putter too? Ouch.

    Rules...

Thing is when an actual event arises in play, a multiple choice questionnaire doesn't float down from above and present you with choices. The real trick to rules is you have to identify when one must be referenced and know how to proceed. This is much harder than situational guessing as a test like this presents. So, it's important to know the rules well enough if you're to play in organized competition that you can recognize, identify and proceed within the rules when such an event occurs. It's sort of like a balk in baseball. Given a multiple choice guess test I could tell you every situation that is a balk. But, no way I could identify every balk in the play of a real game.
  12. I'd wait for a sale. Cleveland just had a sale about a month ago where it was buy 1 get 1 free for wedges. Awesome deal.

I agree, fresh squeezed lime is the best. I don't mind Rose's and it'll do. But I had to admit, a bartender at a bar I go to from time to time makes them with fresh squeezed limes and they're pretty awesome. And then you realize you're drinking straight vodka with some lime squeezed in it and it's smooth and you have like 5 of them and suddenly you can't stand, lol.

Never occurred to me but I'll have to try that. I can imagine a decent tequila with lime tasting pretty awesome. Thanks for the tip!

Exactly. I love beer snobs who judge beers like PBR. I enjoy great beers too. But I know I can't put down 12 pale ales in a few hours to get the party started. PBR and the like exist for a reason. Basically, really easy to consume alcohol that tastes alright with a few cigarettes. In fact, I just had a couple of these really good ambers and I think it's time to crack a PBR to wash it all down.
  16. Yeah totaly. Especially since the ASLR as he refers to it is part of Darwin which is the open source part of the kernel. I believe it would be anyways. And even if it did create "random" address space for the stack, etc it wouldn't matter. So, if anyone wants to try and craft an exploit, go ahead and download the Darwin source code and have at it! You won't find a thing though since it is built on BSD which is years old and has been per reviewed by thousands of people and is pretty darn secure. This isn't DOS. The memory is protected by the kernel and no client program has access at any time. No application stack can address another at any time and even if it tried all application memory is addressed virtually. So, where's the problem? I mean, I could create a pointer to the EXACT address in memory of something and try and access it and as soon as this code executed the operating system would core dump it. Like I said, this was something that may have been important with DOS, but not in any modern operating system. I mean, this apparent security expert (who is only trying to sensationalize nonsense) sounds like he's promoting security through obscurity, which is always a bad idea. Because eventually someone will guess right.

I'll add a favorite actually. Vodka Gimlets are delicious. But it has to be a VERY small amount of lime in it. Enough to give it a slight hint of lime but not too much to be acidic or totally kill the vodka. I prefer it with a good vodka if the bartender can avoid using too much lime. In fact, I don't mind it with just straight vodka, shaken with ice and then poured into a very small glass and then a like wedge or 2 squeezed into it. Ice cold vodka with a hint of lime. Oh yes.

Please don't mix Belvedere with lemonade. Or really anything for that matter. Shameful.

Oh, totally wrong my friend. There are a lot of great tequilas out there. You need to get something that is aged 4 or 5 years though. 3 years can work too I suppose. I always see people doing shots of silver tequilla and it isn't made for that. It's a mixer (margaretti) tequila and sort of harsh and not rich in flavor. I'll do a shot but it isn't enjoyable. A good tequila is very rich and flavorful and will stay with you a bit. Very delicious indeed! I totally agree with you about gin. Tanquery is my favorite as well for gin and tonic and Sapphire for a martini. Anyways, I enjoy gin and tequila as much as ice cold PBR.
  21. Actually, the rule states that the runner must be put out BEFORE he reaches the base. So since technically a tie isn't before he reaches the base, the "tie" goes to the runner. However, like everything in the game it's a judgment call and the Umpire has the final say. MLB Umpires are actually really, really good at making this call as well. They rely on sound more than anything. So there aren't many ties to those guys. But in general if they don't hear "bang bang" and just "bang", the runner is safe.

    Distance

Probably lessons from a PGA Professional would be a better answer. A man of your size should be able to generate 155 yards from a 5 iron with a half swing to be honest.
  23. Well, I think a lot of things about a golf swing are not intuitive. It isn't a natural motion for most people I believe. Flipping, swaying back and forth and many of the other common poor techniques (or lack of technique) are pretty natural to most players. So yes, naturally most people will suck. But it's like anything else where education and practice will make you better. If the typical player would take some lessons, read some books and practice these techniques, they would see improvement. But for some reason a lot of people won't do this and would rather dump the money into new gear. Perhaps it's a reflection on our culture in that easy money and money as a patch will fix things rather than serious study and hard work. I don't think Joe Golfer is any worse at this sport than an untrained bowler, basketball player or whatever. Maybe somewhat since the game of golf is harder to play I believe than most other games, both mentally and skillfully. But I will say I play in circles of pretty good players, some with positive handicaps. And it was actually sort of a shock to me to eventually figure out there are in fact a lot of golfers who are pretty respectable shooting consistently in the 70's.
  24. At the Buick Michael Letzig took a shot with his 3 wood that went about 30 yards on the ground, to his left. An absolutly terrible shot. The kind of shot you would never expect a PGA player to make. But they do. Tigers hit shanks in tournaments. It happens.
  25. Jack Nicklaus was full of it then. I agree with your ideas on exposure, etc. that and hsi swing is quite ugly.
