This year I was trying something new with my backswing. I started keeping my right elbow away from my body, then dropping it into the slot. It was sort of working, but my misses were always on the toe. So last night I was at the range trying different things with my swing. I started keeping the elbow tucked on the backswing, and it felt like the club was closer to my neck. BAM! I started hitting these beautiful high draws. I've always been a low ball hitter. I think I finally figured out how to hit it higher. I couldn't miss the center of the clubface! So what is better for me? Elbow away and drop into slot, or keep right elbow tucked? I don't know but I'm going to keep working on this.

Sorry to hear you didn't make it to the next round. Still very impressive though, that you took a shot at it. Could you imagine the greens at Pinehurst #2. OMG those greens are insane. They are very difficult. The landing areas for approach shots makes those greens alot smaller. So I guess I can see why the local qualifier courses setup their greens so fast, to prepare you for Pinehurst. The winner of the US Open will be the one who putts the best on those crazy greens.

OMG! On Saturday I jumped on as a single and was paired up with a dad and his 19 year old son. His name was Adam he plays for Colorado Mesa University. He's only been playing golf for 5 years! Since he was 14 years old. This kid was good, I mean really good. The Heritage Golf course at Westmoor hosts the US Open qualifiers, and has championship tees at 7538 yards slope/rating 74/134. Adam played from the championship tees and made it look easy. He was averaging over 300 yards on drives. He said his swing speed was around 118. Had a fairly quick tempo like Ricky Fowler or Nice Price. He wasn't even really trying, he was just having fun with a casual round with his dad. Hit lots of fairways, lots of greens. Few birdies, few bogeys, rest were pars. He shot a 73. This course is very difficult, fast greens around 11-12 on the stimp. After college he plans on trying to qualify for the Web.com tour and then the PGA Tour. I hope he makes it, very humble, friendly, etc. Didn't want to brag about his game or anything. So I was asking him alot of questions. I've never played with a plus handicap before, and it was a great experience.

I guess everybody isn't up to your intellectual standards. Why don't you become a golf announcer so you can grace us with yours.

You could also try some of that chrome wheel polish from the auto parts store. Get the Mothers Wheel polish, that will get rid of the tiny scratches. Then use the oil rag on it.

I think pin placements makes the courses tougher, and the average golfer can struggle with this. As if golf isn't hard enough, they have to tuck pins close to bunkers, near the very front edge, near the back edge, etc. Oh how I hate difficult pin placements. Now in tournaments I can understand this, but on a normal Saturday afternoon when the course is packed, all this creates is backups and slows play down. I also agree with the length and tee recommendations. The starter should be responsible for asking or telling everybody in the group which tee boxes they need to play. Way too many 30 handicaps out there playing the middle and back tees, see it all the time.

I have a big problem! Lost my swing overnight!

Glad to hear you figured it out. Most of the time its something simple like setup and ball position. Good luck on your outing with the co-workers. -
Anthony Kim, because he would supply all the girls, booze, and drugs. John Daly drank so much during his bad party days, I would never survive, I'd be passed out before midnight. LOL

Good choice buying the oil rag, that will help keeping it look good. The metals that are used on Scotty putters are soft, so they are prone to scratches. Thats why they feel so great on impact.
-
Ya I agree, the greens look fine to me. I think the media blew this story up a little too much. I don't see any balls bouncing around or anything. Sure you can see some spots that don't look good, but its very sparce, and not affecting play. The maintenance crews really did a fine job with the course considering all thats happened.
-
Ya I think all Scotty putters get those scratches on the bottom. I bought a new one in 2012 and there is a few scratches on it, but its not bad. I treat mine very well also, only removing the cover when I'm putting. Do you have one of those oil rags? I use the oil rag you can buy from the Scotty Cameron site. I use it about every other round or so. Oil rag: https://www.scottycameron.com/store/product.aspx?zpid=572

Ya Phil is playing great tee to green, but can't get the putter going, just like last Sunday. Not sure why. Looks like all the European's are playing well, they are all on the leaderboard. Westwood and Sergio thats a surprise.

I just went through this same exact thing! Few weeks ago I was puring all my irons. Last weekend was absolutely horrible, couldn't hit a decent shot for my life. I went to the range and figured it out. I wasn't squaring the clubface. So I shortened my backswing, and I concentrated on keeping the clubface square on the take away. BAM!! solid pure shots again. Try that.... -
Wait a minute, five par 3s on the course? What kind of course is it, executive or something?
-
Wow! A hole in one, congrats must feel pretty good huh. I have no idea, never had one been playin this damn game for 20 years now.
-
Geeeeez.... that wasn't very nice.....Sergio hater?

In my old driver, the Titleist 913D had a 65g shaft in it. It wasn't a good shaft for me. So I sold the driver, and got the Callaway Big Bertha with the Fubuki stiff shaft is 59g. Its much easier and smoother for me, really like the lighter shaft now. I have no problems controlling it. btw, my driver swing speed is around 100.

I really wanted Phil to win, but he just can't put 4 rounds together and I have no idea why. So my guess will be a guy NOT in the top 10, or top 20 for that matter. Whoever that is?
-
Awwwww come on seriously? You don't like McCord? Geeez I really like him, he's good. He's one of my favorite announcers!
-
Yes I agree, no top players are winning, except for Bubba in the Masters. I can't believe Phil fell apart today and didn't play well. That four putt from like 6 ft. was a killer. Never the less, JB Holmes had a great win, that guy can just flat out smashes his drives. All day he was 50 yards past Flores.

I would have to vote yes. Its time to get a new driver. Some of the offerings out there this year is great. Get an adjustable driver. The lower center of gravity, and thinner faces provide less ball spin. Some really nice drivers to choose from are: Callaway Big Bertha - I love the adjustabilty of it with the additional weight on the back for draw and fade. I just got this and I love it, great looks, performs excellent, low ball spin. Titleist 913D - Titleist always offers great looking drivers with adjustabilty and they perform great. Taylormade SLDR - This thing is a bomber, they did some great work with this, and very low ball spin. If you are hitting that 4 year old Nike 250, I would say you could can an extra 20 yards with these new drivers.

Need 9 degree Driver Help!!

Oh nice Estes Park is great, but right now they are still recovering from the floods, destroyed the hole town. Green fees here are reasonable, we have some really nice public courses all about $50 - $60 with cart. So come on out here! -

Oh really? Nice! Glad I could be of help, sometimes its just one little thing that can change your swing. I'm taking a road trip out to Indiana now so we can go play! -
Wow! Phil played LIGHTS OUT today, that was awesome! He is finally putting some really good rounds together, and that 63 today was great. He was driving the ball well. After missing the Masters cut, he comes back first tourney and plays well. That is Phil, he can turn it around at any time. GO PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about the getting older thing, and being tired after a round. That is exactly me these last few years. Ya the left wrist thing, I've struggled with this alot, I have always had a kinked wrist, and its hard to square the club face. But this year my wrist is flat, and I started hitting the ball really solid now.
