  1. When I work on my short game, I usually only use two balls. I lose concentration if I try and hit ball after ball from the same spot. Also, due to past back issues I perfer a couple of shots then straighten up, walk to the balls and move to a different spot. If the practice chipping green is not very busy, I do like using a wedge, putter and one ball to see how often I can get up and down from different spots.
  2. Flattening my driver swing has worked wonders for me. It produces a nice straight ball or at worse a little fade. My sliced driver is usually due to a looping out to in swing.
  3. I am fully aware of what the rule says. But am wondering how many people would be able to hit a drive they knew stayed in, go look for it and then go all the way back to hit another one, unless the course was very slow.
  4. If you already have anxiety issues, either take drugs or go faster. The longer you stand there the worse off you are going to be. Also either get rid of practice swings or limit to one limbering type swing. Early in the year I would go through a mental checklist before swinging to make sure everything was right. Played quick enough because I take no practice swings but golf buddy mentioned my slowness. Went out for a practice round and tried taking my grip, walk up to get my alignment and swing. Had great results and been doing it ever since with a few modifications but still pretty quick. I know you said you don't want to go faster but if you are going to suck might as well do it quickly. Understand when I am talking about fast and speeding things up, that doesn't include the swing only the routine.
  5. Wouldn't mind finding some of those percept ladies. Did find a Nike power lady that I'm going to give a try.
  6. Mine was just last week. After a good drive on a 360 yd par 4, I was left 123 yds to a back pin. Hit a beautiful PW, one hop and it for my first eagle. Before that it would have been another PW into a 122 yd par 3 that was 2" from a hole in one.
  7. Just wondering how many people change balls as the weather gets colder and things begin to soften up? Obviously those of you living in steady weather states might not have to think about this. I began playing TM Reds last summer and really like them a lot and stocked up since they were being discontinued. Due to back injury was not able to play from Sept. til the end of Nov. and found I had a hard time with the Reds. Didn't feel like I was able to compress them and more spin than I wanted under softer conditions in the Pac NW. Began playing some D2 Feels I had and loved them. Played with them until the weather warmed enough to switch back to the Reds. Played the Reds all spring and summer and only went through 1.5 dz of my stash. During the year I have found around 12-14 good 2 piece balls that I plan on using throughout the fall and winter along with the 12 D2 Feels I have left. Just wondering how many others change around a bit.
  8. Haven't updated my hdcp here but it's now in the low 8's. By run of the mill I meant as of late with almost all of my low rounds this year having occurred in the last couple of months. My driving has been crazy good and also a switch in putting has helped significantly. Course is not an extremely difficult one with a rating of 69.4. Course is in housing development so if you are not hitting the driver well, it is either into what tree there are or worse OB in someones yard. I like it because it is close to work, stays dry and is between $15-20 at twilight. Greens are usually nice, but they were aerated 10 days earlier.
  9. Got out about a half hour early and was just barely able to get 18 in, hit blind on the last hole. It's mid October in WA and was sunny and 67, no way could I pass that up.
  10. Capital City in Lacey. Work down that way even though I live in Tacoma. Really like the course and it stays pretty dry. Also, $14 for a round can't be beat.
  11. 1. No plans for changes except maybe a hybrid if I come across something I really like. Everything in the bag is treating me well at the moment. 2. Continue yoga 4-5 times per week. Anyone thinking about yoga should stop thinking and start doing. I started a little over a year ago and it has made tremendous differences. Also use some light weights a few days a week a walk 4-5 miles as often as the weather allows. Walked and carried my bag in all but two of the 50+ rounds I played this year. 3. Nothing in this area. Never had a lesson and probably won't start now. Very happy with where my swing is now. 4. Main goal this year was to break 80 and have done it a number of times now. Think I might get greedy and say shooting an even par round is now the goal.
  12. Kinda upset the season is winding down (live in Wa.) because I have been playing my best golf of the season the last couple of months with the hdcp dropping like a rock. All three things in the title happen today. Run of the mill front nine with 5 pars and three bogies. Hit 6 fairways and 5 GIR's with 16 putts. Just missed two birdie putts, but took my 39 and was happy. The back started with an eagle chip attempt on 10 that I left 5' short. Since the greens were aerated 10 days ago the putt bounced all over the place and slid out to the right. A tap in par and bogey on 11 leave me at a hole I often have trouble with. Par 4 360 yd #12 has lots of trees on the right and I think I have hit most of them at one time or another. Hitting the driver great the last 10+ rds and hit it about 240 down the left side. 123 to a back pin placement which is a nice PW for me. Great contact, pin high and the ball disappears. I walk side to side, thinking it must of went past the hole, before I tell the guys that I am playing with that I think it went in. Walking towards the green I could see it was nowhere to be seen and no way it flew the green; walk to the hole and sure enough there it is. Now comes the fun part as it is after 6 and will be dark in less than an hour. Try to move fast in between shots, but try not to rush the actual shot. Next three holes go par, bogey, par. Come to 16, get behind slow foursome so the twosome I am with calls it a night and heads in. It's a 160 yd par 3 and the light is diminishing. Grab a Wilson Smart Core in bright orange that I found and kept just for such an occasion and hit it five feet past the hole and make the birdie. 17 even more interesting as I wait a couple of minutes for the slow group, but see the driver and then PW come off straight and two putt for the par. Get to 18 and there are 7 other guys all hitting in together. Watch two guys hit and no one sees anything. Hit my drive and all I know is it felt like the one on 17 and sure enough it's on the right side just short of the 150. Grab a 7 iron and again the shot felt good but pretty much blind. On the green, short left two putt par. Back 9 ends up being in -1 (lowest 9) and final 18 score of 74 (lowest round). As I have been typing this, I also realized I had 28 putts which equals my lowest of the season. Wishing it was spring and not fall. Sorry so long, but can't believe all this happened in one round.
  13. Living in WA I agree with a lot of the above and don't like the rain much, but if you are picky golfing in the fall and winter isn't too tough. We are having a decent Oct at the moment and I count this as a bonus. I plan on playing later in the week in partly cloudy and low 60's. More of a problem is everyone is aerating their greens limiting the options.
  14. I have an 09 Grom and walked while carrying it all season with no problems. Only issue is with the legs sometimes and totally blew out one of the zippers on the side pocket. Wrote to Ogio just for the heck of it and they offered me 50% off a new bag so I may upgrade to the 2010 Grom.
  15. 38 rds so far towards my hdcp on 7 different courses. Also have 10-12 practice rounds on 3-4 other courses.
  16. Thanks for the offer and I would love to snatch it up but during my round today side zipper on my bag finally went and is now wide open. Love the bag and may need another one now. Kinda pissed since it is only a couple years old. Just to know, what loft is on your TM?
  17. My SS with the driver is right around 100. Did see a few of the Tour Burners but most had stiff shafts so I didn't look too hard. May go back and check a few of them out.
  18. Thinking about getting another driver for a backup and I would like to try something with a R shaft as mine is S. As you can see by my sig, I have an 07 TM Burner and am hitting it pretty good lately. I could pick up another one or an 09 in R shaft for around $100 on ebay. Anything else I should look at in the 100-150 range?
  19. Yea, that's it. It wouldn't be things like time, traffic, parking. I heard they have all those murdering homeless people in Seattle and my 7 iron just wouldn't cut it.
  20. Yea, I know where Oregon is smart guy. Also pretty sure how far Seattle is, not the distance I care about.
  21. Work in Lacey and will probably buy one of the Oki cards next year for the Hawks Prairie courses. At $15 during the week it would pay for itself quickly.
  22. I live in Tacoma and very little gets me to go north and used clubs ain't one of them. A few places closer to me, but would have to luck into something. Would like to have a backup driver with a R shaft, but would be looking a few years old probably. Even a couple hundred bucks get me thinking about playing the ten rounds instead.
  23. Do what you want with your money, just not sure about the getting better part. I am sure I could shoot the same as I do now with multiple brands/kinds of irons and drivers. It's not to say that when my driver left me a few months ago I didn't hit drivers in the shops and look at ebay; in the end I chose the tips section of a few sites and flattened my swing with great success. Wish I had more used club shops in my area to take advantage like others here are. For me I think lessons and/or practice would be a better use of time/money. I like to play as much golf as possible and at about $20 per round when someone said they spent $650 on a driver they never kept, I began to think of how many rounds I could play with that. Again, your money, do what you want. For me, other than maybe ditching my 5w for a hybrid I am playing as much as I can.
  24. Read a ton of posts here and elsewhere that make me wonder how many golfers fall into such a catagory. Guys going through many sets of irons and even more drivers looking for the "one". Kicker was one today of a guy stating he has gone through 2k+ this season on drivers including 650 on one and still haven't found one. Obviously manufactures love it and got to be one of the reason why such a turnover in clubs. Most seem to agree with the indian over arrow theory but someone is buying all the new and improved equiptment. Some will claim to be "ho'in", last I looked ho's got paid not did the paying. Seems like at best you're a john at worst paying to be taken advantage of.
  25. Usually it's my 58* with lower bounce. My 56* has a higher bounce and the bunkers on the courses I play medium to heavy "sand". Would love to play out of light fluffy stuff with my 56, but at best at most courses you get a dry thin top layer with wet sand under it. I'm often short with the 58, but better than skipping the 56 off the wet stuff.
