And let us not forget the other clubs! Remember the BiMatrx?! When it first appeared, I tried the (S) edition in a driver I was building at the time but had to pull it shortly thereafter. Felt like a darn telephone pole and has since been relegated to a set-up and swing alignment tool. But... the (R) I've had in storage will soon be used in a new 3w I'm putting together, tipped with a Wishon 949MC. That stable tip is what I am presently looking to use with this high-COR head, which will be in periodic contact with the turf. Another thing to mull over is not getting "too light" with your shaft choices. I know this runs counter to alot of the media hype we see every day, but the next time you get a chance to see PLFTP's with Nick Price, listen to what he has to say on that subject. YMMV, of course.

Pinch me... 'cuz I'm dreaming: John Daly (for contrast) or Tim Finchem (as a PGA legal-beagle umbrella).

Well......... My belief is that a regulation tee shot sets one up psychologically for successful approach play more often than not; but TCT is spot-on about scrambling. I will also add that this skill typically involves far more "creativity" than many typical players are willing to learn or care to exhibit. However, if you have shot-making capability - this is where the pay-off will be: one up, one in!

Glasses, Contacts, and Polarization Questions????
RnR replied to DBeane's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Having recently picked up a non-polarized sunglass which I have yet to try on course, I had also considered whether a polarized glass would be useful. My supposition is that it frankly wouldn't matter much on the tee/fairway, but getting lazy and leaving them on around the green could cause problems reading putts. With grain running away from you, I think the glare coming off the bent grass may potentially be reduced, increasing read difficulty. Dependent of course on the specific polarization used, I would prefer to retain a regular sunglass, especially when I have a putter in hand. -
My question... "Ever heard of Reverse Speech?" On 3 March, Jeff Rense hosted the developer of Reverse Speech analysis and he played a couple of audio clips that indicated TW thought of his conquests as the plural of a 4-letter word: "sl_t" and that there is no doubt (in his mind at least) that he will be back to tour golf this year. Further clarification by his subconscious mind was hindered by the script from which he read during his recent "admission" - as the subconscious needs unfettered spontaneous speech to release it's suppressed thoughts. Very interesting concept and revealing as well.

When I could get them, I much preferred the GP half-cords on the woods, with standard Winns on the irons. I'm inclined to pursue the Karakal/Sharpro multi-compounds these days tho.

keep right foot down through swing = more consistent?
RnR replied to augafan48's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I always admired the way Annika had presumably kept her's planted until post impact. That was one thing I tried to emulate with my short irons during the off-season and I swear it helped me maintain a more consistent impact when I got back on the course. Now... I recently found a photo of her that clearly showed that the foot was NOT planted like I thought. But watch some video of her and I think the message will still get through that by at least trying to keep that foot down your irons should improve. I'm not yet convinced that it is the way to go off the tee, but I think you're on the right track. -
I think I'm finally going to jettison my Palm m125 and seek out a PDA my aging eyes can handle better. As such I'm open to suggestions for a sub $100 PDA (please, no iPod/iTouch/iPhones) and recommendations on some scoring software for it. I'm inclined toward something that runs Linux (but not mandatory) and can sync to OpenOffice running under XP. Having taken over my league's secretarial duties I have become increasingly statistic oriented and would like to try keeping track of things during play with some decent software. I don't think Scorecard qualifies as I don't believe it runs on the PDAs I'm looking at, but I'll toss the need out to the members here and ask what y'all might recommend. Suggestions are welcome!

If it were my business... and not having signed any papers with the tour - it isn't , TW would be gone, period. However, as the tours are attendance driven, this sort of misadventure certainly drives the attention factor to polar extremes, and I am unfortunately inclined to believe that this is exactly what advertisers secretly want. Although it is the degree to which his transgressions extended that caused the loss of personal sponsors, I am to date unaware of any tour sponsors that have dropped away because of it. So on a personal note, I'd say that an absence of a couple years would serve his personal interests best... but I fear that his ego and upbringing will continue to drive him on a different path. I guess we'll all see what happens shortly, but I don't think Bobby Jones or Jack (my Gold Standard for "Golfer") would be back this quick after a disaster of the magnitude we've recently witnessed. The kids will dearly pay the most, but I'd eventually sure like to see them in a PM-style green-side family gathering some day... Good luck to the family, no doubt they need it in the interim - far more than TW needs to play.

What are y'all looking to use this year off the tee for low-friction ball support? In the past I have only used the traditional wood tees but am now thinking of changing over to the Zero Friction tee. And admittedly I don't know much about the various incarnations of brush tees that are out there, but I do find the 3-wood sized editions to have at least some potential (theoretical) merit. Are any of you planning to start/or stop using these enthusiast tee designs?

Hmm... that's possible. Although garlic (even if deodorized) may be somewhat neuro-toxic, so I'm not quite ready to pursue that option just yet. You are right though, I have found it in recipes for gardeners to use as an organic pesticide as well. Potent stuff.

Ha!! Always a possibility...!! Ah, I love the pain... (I think).

I like non-DEET formulations due to chemistry preferences in substances applied topically to the skin - however I have less concern about it when applied to clothing. In prior years the best DEET complemented solution I ever used was Muskol (from Canada) and that now comes in both aerosol as well as a straight fluid/lotion. It's in my bag but probably lost a lot of it's power due to age and have wondered about how the non-DEET variants are performing in the field. Buzz-Away ain't bad - but proved ineffective when I was working in the yard after a very heavy rainfall a week or so earlier - I had over 10 bites on my head alone after liberal dosing with the Buzz-Away. Recently I came across some nutritional info which indicated consumption of vitamin B1 (100 mg I think) would help reduce one's attractiveness to the critters - so I have started on a daily B-100 complex supplement regimen to hopefully reduce my radar signature although I didn't find it to be a quick fix. Drat. However, I'll give the Corn Huskers a try (Dad used it regularly years ago for dry skin) and really ---- let's get DDT back on the market!!

Anyone still use a small cc driver, 250cc down.
RnR replied to Sherlockian's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Absolutely! A 230cc continues to be my fall-back driver (see below). When I get out of tempo with my YS-6, the UST/230cc combo settles me down and permits me to focus in on ball contact and swing efficiency. I will admit that I do not like the appearance of any 400cc class head and only recently picked up a couple of Wishon 360cc's to backup my primary Vector 370cc. However, I could easily use the 230cc for an extended period but I've noticed that can get off to a less than glamorous start due to the sloppier control the larger face on the 370cc had permitted. -
For those of you who tend to be eaten alive by mosquitos if you don't use a repellent, what (non-DEET) formulation have you found to be most effective? Even if a course has used an insecticide in ponds and on fairways, by God they sure as heck seem to find me once I make a sidetrip into the woods... HELP!
