  1. Tried getting hands higher at the top of my backswing today and I just couldn’t stop leaving the club face wide open. Thinking maybe I should stay flatter.... does my swing look too flat though?
  2. Man, that is a pretty course you're on.
  3. I think I’m going to work on getting hands a bit higher at top of back swing. I’ve been feeling like my irons have less power than they used to. Recently went through a short case of the shanks but matching my club face to my spine angle through most of the back swing helped me get rid of them.
  4. Hey everybody my name is Alex and my hobbies include humping the goat and hitting my driver out of the heel. 😆 All jokes aside I hope everyone is doing well during these crazy times. Haven’t done any videos recently so here are a few of where my swing is at. Any input is always welcome!
  5. Forgot to update; I tried a few different hybrids at dicks the other day and the M3 was exactly what I was looking for. It has a tensei blue 80g shaft. Played with it today after work and had no problem getting the ball in the air with a slight fade. 🙂
  6. Yeah haha that guy also thought I was nuts. To be honest I was somewhat disappointed in my lack of feel between the different shafts we tried out. I really never could tell a difference except with one HZRD yellow X-stiff. Still yet he said I would be much better off in a Tensei blue 65g stiff, and that shaft actually did feel a good bit better than mine. I will probably end up getting one for it. I went with the M+ red because I never could get the ball height I wanted with my old driver, and this one does launch well for me but the spin is off the charts.
  7. Went to dicks sporting goods to do a driver fitting for $30 just to see what my numbers are on a simulator. This was my first time on a sim and it was odd to hit on. My shot was pretty much a steady high slice lol spin around 5000. Seemed odd because I’ve been playing recently and hitting driver decently. I do aim a bit left and either hit straight or slice maybe 20 yards back to the right side. I think I may have been setting up with my body open and cutting the ball because I didn’t really have anything to line my face / body to. I drove the fitter insane I think lol we tried all the new heads and shafts and still couldn’t get it down. The cobra speed zone and Tensei blue 65 g was the lowest at around 3000 or so. I may try a different shaft he believes mine is way too light and I should be using a 65g. My drives have recently been stuck around 240-260 yards depending on strike. I use a 917d2 10.5 diamana m+ 50g red swing speed 98-103 mph spin ~3500-5000
  8. This is kind of what I'm talking about. I don't know that it is necessarily an onset club but at address it looks like it is to my eye with the leading edge being ahead of the shaft slightly. It may be the shaft but when I hit my friends hybrid the weight was only 5g different. I know there are different bend profiles etc. but I'm not sure that shaft weight was the issue, maybe head weight? Anyways I think his hybrid looked more like an H2 square face, larger toe; just an all around more "iron" feel. Once again, I should of at least went and hit a few different hybrids to find one that worked instead of just ordering something I thought would work. 🤦‍♂️
  9. Update** after reading into the h1 and watching a few videos on it I the club actually has some onset instead of offset. Maybe that’s why it is so strange to me. Their h2 model actually has a small amount of offset. I’m not bashing titleist either in any way all my other clubs are titleist and I love them. This one is just odd to me and definitely doesn’t work out. My miss tends to be more right sided so not getting along with an onset club does make sense. Going to go demo some other hybrids tomorrow I will update with what I find!
  10. As a beginner I've had a recent "aha" moment. A sort of pre swing routine/ swing cue that has drastically improved my ball striking. I struggle with trying to absolutely murder the ball without really noticing it. For me that leads to topped shots, fat shots, wide open face at impact, poor rotation, blocks etc etc etc. (1) Stand behind my shot and pick a close spot in front of the ball to square my face to. (2) Take my grip, square the face, square my body. (3) Once I am over the ball I stop thinking and hit the ball within 5 seconds or so of getting fully set up. (4) I say "Tick" when I take the club away and "Tock" somewhere around impact The Tick Tock cue has smoothed out my rhythm helping me to swing smoothly. This in turn has cut down on bad contact, massive push slices, and all kinds of other bad things from happening... I continue to slow down the time between tick and tock until I am making center face contact. Then I go play 🙂 This may sound completely stupid to some but it has helped me out a lot here recently and my girlfriend has also had really good success with this. Once again take this all with a gran of salt I'm pretty new to the game but I thought I would share in case anyone else could benefit from the idea. It sounds simple but I just shot 90 for the second weekend in a row, and before doing this I was around 110 on a good day.
  11. There’s definitely something funky going on with it. I’m hitting all of my clubs great right now. Drives are straight, irons down to 4i, and my 3 wood off of the fairway is fine. I played the entire round with my friends hybrid today and only mis hit it once (topped). It was straight on mostly all shots maybe a slight fade on a few. I would be curious to see what’s going on with some spray with my hybrid. Anyways this is why I’m thinking the look at address is just messing with my head. I’m pretty new to the game though btw so my hybrid is literally the only one I’ve ever hit or had. I’m also the idiot that buys stuff off the shelf (Or just online better yet) that I think will work lol not many resources around me to try stuff out. I do have a dicks sporting goods though so I’m going to try some stuff out there this week.
  12. Yeah that may be it too. My hybrid is a diamana White 70g stiff. The TM was a 65g stiff. The 818 does feel a lot heavier though.
  13. I'm looking into the Taylormade M3 Rescue it looks similar to what I am after I think.
  14. Yeah I agree I really really hate offset. I'm going to try to get to Dick's soon to see if I can find any other hybrids that look like this one did at address. I never really hook hybrids but the offset just scrambles my brain I think lol and I can barely hit the ball.
  15. I bought a Titleist 818h1 a few months back and I have tried and tried to hit it but I just can't... I absolutely hate it.. I am constantly hitting a very slow slice if I even make contact at all. Ive tried out different settings on the hosel but nothing has helped. I am thinking the offset on the club is throwing me off. Today while golfing with a friend I hit his Taylormade Mid Rescue 2 16* and I absolutely loved it. It was so easy for me to hit and I am thinking that it may be due to the very small amount of offset on it and the head was much more compact. It just had more of an iron type feel maybe? Anyways, I am having trouble finding one of these in decent shape because its a pretty old model club. So I am wondering if anyone can recommend something similar to this??
  16. I finally broke 100 for the first time since picking up golf in May 2019. This was at a Par 72 golf course in Barboursville, WV (Esquire Golf Course). My focus during this round was to hit all shots with a smooth tempo using a "tick tock" swing cue. Sounds dumb when your out there saying it out loud lol but I've never been more consistent. My final score on the course was 90.
  17. Thank you! I will get it claimed.
  18. Well boys I finally did it! I broke 100 at a par 72 course. To be honest this course was pretty easy but I’m still happy to finally get it done. I almost broke 90 in the same day but I had one OB drive. Final score was 90 from white tees.
  19. Finally had a decent day to play a few holes. Been working on slowing my swing down and trying to stop at left arm parallel. It’s resulting in much more consistent contact. Also got rid of the push slice I'm constantly fighting. At least for today...
  20. My goals for 2020: 1.) Break 100 before my 1 year golf anniversary (May 2020) a.) By working on lag putting and chipping around the green. b.) By getting rid of swing thoughts and slicing or shanking the ball off of the planet on the tee c.) By aiming in the direction that I am hitting the ball that day instead of the direction my ball "should" be going. (really dumb but I do this a lot) d.) Lowest score so far is a 103 2.) Improve ball-striking a.) Continue to practice on my way home every day at the executive course (Still Free :)) b.) Hopefully find a decent instructor to get lessons from c.) Line face up to target, take grip, swing freely ( This is whats working well for me now vs. having swing positions in my head) 3.) Play a ton of new courses a.) Was gifted a WVGA "VIP" card for Christmas which lets you play most private courses in WV a few times a year, as well as, discounted prices on public courses. 1.) If anyone in WV hasn't checked into this it really is a crazy good deal for $50 a year. I know I will easily save that much on the public courses I play a lot, and the private courses are at really good prices.
  21. Nice thanks!!!! It looks like I’m not too far off.
  22. I do not I think it feels terrible lol there’s just so much grip info online some show it touching some not so I just wanted to check that my grip wasn’t totally out of wack. I see a lot of people say to do a long thumb and to me my current grip feels like I have a long thumb but if I really exaggerate then it does touch.
  23. Better pictures of my current grip with trail hand on
  24. Having some confusion on grip. When I take my normal grip my pad on my thumb doesn’t come close to touching the grip. I can however make it touch if I extend my thumb very far. Not sure which is correct. If the thumb pad is supposed to be touching the grip then would my grips appear to be way undersized?? I only wear a size medium glove (Titleist) so I would think standard would work for me. Any advice on which grip looks more correct? Or if I should go to a midsize grip? I'm still hitting somewhat inconsistent one day I have a fade and leaving shots to the right and the next a draw. I think it may be due to inconsistency when taking the grip. current grip that I take. grip with extended thumb ( forcing pad to touch)
  25. I thought it was good.. I never was a giant fan of the movie, but I liked this better. Superheros without superpowers is just kind of lame. I know that's the whole point but still... I like the show "The Boys" on Amazon a lot, its somewhat a similar theme with the heroes not being good but they at least have powers.
