If you swing and completely miss the ball, does that count as a stroke?

Last time I went fishing, I was using a minnow, a bobber, 12 lb. test line and no leader.. I noticed the bobber very slowly go under, and once it was all the way under, I set the hook and started to reel it back and I pulled back a hookless line. The fish cut my line so fast that I didn't even feel the weight of it. I have always thought it was a walleye, but have read that walleyes usually don't cut your line, but I don't think northerns take your bobber slow like that.. but maybe I'm wrong. Anyone know what it might have been?

I live in MN and have been to a lot of different restaurants. The only one I've been to that serves lamb is a Greek restaurant in Blaine.

That is a goofy video! I liked lamb when I had it, about once a year, and I've talked to some people that thought it was kinda strange.

I suppose "weird" would depend on what part of the world you live in since some places it's normal to eat dog. I haven't tried anything too strange. I've had Lamb chops. And once I had a buffalo burger, which I thought was gross.

I hit my drive on a par 4 and I lost it in the woods. So I teed it up again and hit another drive for my 3rd shot 230 yards in the middle of the fairway. I had 150 yards left to the green, and I holed out to save par.

I have had this happen to me many times. I was a 26 hc before I changed my swing(now I hit the ball like a 2 year old). And at that 26 hc last year, I had a few rounds at a fairly difficult course that I started out with 3 pars in a row. Once that happens, you start to think "wow, 3 pars... I only need 15 more pars to shoot 72". Once you start thinking like that, it's over.

I don't know if there's an air base around. There were actual planes in other parts of the sky ... and I'm pretty sure this section of TheSandTrap is for non-golf related topics, Mr. Forum Leader.

No, it's not a joke. I actually saw this, and I thought I did a pretty good job with the animation. It's the best I can do. I saw what looked like a dull star. Noticed it moving very very slowly, and then it disappeared. Then a couple seconds later I noticed a triangle of colored lights blinking rapidly and flying upwards really fast. I'm not a pro animator, so it lookes a little cheesy. I'm pretty sure no aircraft built by humans looks like or moves the way that thing did.

I had my clubs fitted. My swing speed was 91. The pro at the store said that if your clubhead speed is over 90 mph, then you need a stiff shaft. I am not sure how much faster it would have to be to justify an X-stiff.

I know it's not because of ball position because I place the ball towards the instep of my left foot(on tee). I know if I tilt to the right(right handed) and put 60% or more of my weight on my right foot at address, then I hit up on it with no divot. I have a 10° twist in my spine which, at address, causes my shoulders to be parallel with the ground or my right shoulder to even be higher than my left. So I think this messes with my shot making in some ways.(maybe fat shots with irons) I know I've seen people put the ball in the middle of their stance when hitting driver. How do you not hit the ground then? What's the best way to set up to a drive so the club doesn't hit the ground?

Sai-Jin, that's what I always thought also, but I feel like I need to swing out of my shoes to keep the shaft leaned right. Does anyone think my swing looks flippy? I'm thinking it does a little bit, but the contact and distance on this shot was pretty good. I definitely am not thinking about keeping the shaft forward because I never thought you should have to concentrate on that. Would the tour striker help my game?.... or hurt it?... And thanks John, i'll have to try that

I've seen the Tour Striker infomercial, and I don't know if I like the whole idea. On it, they said that you're supposed to hold the wrist angle longer through impact so your hands are in front of the ball. They even had a scratch golfer(or better) on there saying that all he thinks about is keeping the shaft forward through impact. And they had Kevin Streelman on there saying how cool the tour striker is. I always thought the forward shaft lean would happen automatically if you turned through the shot properly. But they're saying to be a good ball striker you need to hold that wrist angle and keep the shaft leaning forward with a conscious effort. Edit: Do you hold the wrist angle longer / lean the shaft forward on purpose, or do you get the proper shaft lean from using your lower body correctly?

Does anyone condone pot for medicinal use? I think some people get cancer on purpose just so they can get high!

You got me, but... back when they were first talking about the grooves issue on golf channel, I remember hearing one of the broadcaster guys say "the players are getting too much spin" with the square groove clubs, and also said that players who hit the fairway should be rewarded. Maybe he said that before the USGA did their extensive testing.

They do add more spin. Having more of a penalty for missing the fairway wasn't the only reason they changed to V grooves.
