+1 on the lesson guy - especially the ones who are clearly not even close to being as good as you are but still want to play michael breed on every one of your swings.

I was confused along I think with some other posters until someone mentioned that you physically cannot go into the pro shop and "pay for yourself" (I have never been to a private cc with this setup). There I could see it getting a little awkward because you have to literally collect from those you invite. I guess just having the conversation before hand about what everything is going to cost is the way to go - I will say if someone invited me to their club to play I would assume I would have to pay my own way except if it was business related.

This watch looks great - it is expensive though - the thing is I know that other companies are going to come out with a bunch of these watches over the next year probably. So if I am patient better versions will probably be on the way. For example, I've read reviews that say the battery life on this is only enough to get through one round of 18 holes - so battery life may be an issue. I know I waited on buying a gps device when they were the rage and instead got golfshot for my smartphone which i love and was way cheaper.

In my eyes Haney is def. a fraud, a below average teacher and man of questionable character. I say this because if you google it youll see that Haney could not hit his driver for 20 years! - he had driver yips and would not hit his driver in front of students even though he would teach the driver. It seems relevant to me that pga pros should be able to practice what they preach to some extent and if this guy can't get his driver in the fairway 1 out of 20 times and hes doling out all of this advice I have a problem with that. Additionally, I did not like the interview he did with Golf digest after Tiger crashed his car and Elin blasted him with his four iron or whatever happened that night. Haney def. was washing his hands of tiger and almost talking bad about him in that interview. I mean come on - without tiger Haney would not have all these crappy products on the market, shows on the golf channel failing to improve 2 out of 3 peoples games or a healthy stable of pga tour players. Give the guy some respect and have some class and just keep your mouth shut. These teachers get way too much credit for player performance - tiger has so much talent he would have accomplished the same things without this guy.

"likely there for diversity"? Carl and Will are in the top 3 with Kent? I think you're offbase on that one. The show goes out of its way to find different types of people on every season - so we have two southern country dudes, two canadians, two current and ex military guys etc. Will has his unorthodox grip and Carl doesn't have a pretty swing but when it comes down to it most of the competitions have been individual competitions and they have both made their shots when they had to and thats reflected by the fact that they are on the top of the money board. Kent has a good looking swing and backs that up with good results. Justin had a good looking swing but he couldn't get his head in the game to perform on every shot and those mistakes cost him. Piri as well - he his great long irons but was done in by a 15 foot put he left like 6 feet short. Consistency is a premium in golf and it is the same with the show - you have one or two immunity challenges which usually consist of one or two shots - you have to be on for those shots or you are going into an elimination challenge and can be gone quickly. I think as the show has played out we see that the more inconsistent golfers - think floyd, norman, oren - ultimately lost out and got eliminated because of that inconsistency. As I think back I can't think of a bad shot that Will, Kent or Carl have hit thus far. In this game one mistake and you can be done.

Hoping to revive this thread. Heading to Harwich in a couple of weeks for a week long vacation. I know about the 9 hole course in Harwich and the par 3 in Chatham. Was wondering if anymore had any more suggestions for courses in the area in the like 30 to 40 buck range? Thanks.

Oh man I would LOVE to see that - Justin actually reminded me of Brian - he spent so much time talking about how good he was but he never once showed it on the course. I remember that line where Brian was saying how he was accustomed to regularly pitching the all in from 50 yards.

I'm not a fan of bringing people back who have already been "eliminated" - I think this is a byproduct from a previous season where they had teams and people could be sent to the "bench" but no one was actually eliminated. Then the contestants where able to bring people back onto the show by eageling a whole or something like that. Seems like they wanted to have a version of that here. Really I wish they would allow the players to actually play 9 holes of golf against each other and see where everybody stacks up instead of these skills competitions.

I think making up the whatever rules they want is not the issue - I think the issue they had with Piri coming back was that BB was changing the rules midway through the show. So everything was laid out and everyone understood the parameters of the show and how you can "eliminated" but halfway through you find out that person wasn't really truly "eliminated" as now he has a path back onto the show. These guys play in tournaments and you know golf is a sport of strict rule adherence so I could see why it would really bother them. They have to realize though that this show is more reality show that golf competition so you have to expect gimmicks. Oren made a really good point about Piri though - he said that by him being eliminated and coming back he didn't have to compete on the days he wasnt on the show. Who knows what would have happened if he had to do those 4 days of competition. But now he gets to be back on the show and in good standing (though with less money) than the rest of the guys.

I understood why Will was upset - you go on the show and they give you the rules and how eliminations work and then they change it halfway through. I think Will also knew that Piri was a good player and would be a threat going forward - a threat he thought he didn't have to deal with anymore. That said he went up against Piri in the immunity challenge first thing which would have been the perfect opportunity to choke and hit a bad shot. He was having none of that though and got up there and took care of business, hit a good shot and made the up and down. He def. talks a lot and seems like he can loose focus but when it comes to golf and stepping up and hitting shots he always gives a good effort and it shows by the fact that he is on top of the leaderboard.

Also I was a little critical of NormandaMarine's play earlier in the show on these forums but in all honesty he showed up big on the last show - he battled in that eliminated golfers challenge and just got outplayed by a guy who was clearly feeling it and in the zone - there is no shame in that. He also had the best lines of the show yet - that one someone already mentioned about Justin - and some of his commentary they ran during he elimination shots had me cracking up. I think all golfers probably feel the same way that you never want to beat someone when they are playing crappy - you want to see them play well and just play better so the win actually means something. I think the last challenge between Piri and Russel was the best head to head golf played thus far.

I may be confusing my people but I think Kent or someone else knew of or playing in amateur tournaments with Piri before the big break. It seems like a few of the guys had seen each other or knew about each other from the mini tour or amateur circuit. So it seemed like Kent was vouching for he fact that Piri was dangerous the most and the other guys went along with that since Kent has displayed the most all around talent - arguably - thus far.

I have to agree with a few of the guys here - the blackjack game would have been a lot better if the cards weren't secret. The guys with more money in the bank could get the slight advantage of going second and knowing what he has to beat. I didn't understand why the "cards" were kept quiet - seems to me the challenge would have been more interesting if a guy knew he had to hit a certain number and went for it. On another note - I'm starting to think that Carl is using his "strategy book" as a way to just screw with everyone elses head - I'm doubting that hes really even writing anything in it? especially after that great bluffing performance he put on in the last challenge. I also think its cool how Carl and Shank are becoming friends on the show - they really seem to have a lot of respect for each other. After the first show I thought I wasn't going to like the cast of characters they put together but I have to say now I'm hooked - I've watched every show.

I have to say it was a boneheaded move - he had 18 - the game was blackjack - you do not hit on 18 in blackjack - the fact is Shank got into his head with that performance imitating Carls bluffing job. He just wasn't using his head on that one - he also did not play good golf throughout the whole show so I also have to say that he deserved to be the one to go based on the golfers left. He talked a good game but was not able to back it up on the course.

So let me get this straight - saying anything critical about the marine is off limits on this forum? I mean you can appreciate the sacrifice and great thing that hes doing for our country and make observations and opinions about him on the show without betraying that fact. Reality is he did talk some smack and he did hit his drive into the trees not even close to the fairway - I dont know why people are coming down on this dude for pointing that out. And normadamarine you would have to give this dmilt guy a million strokes if you played him - says his handicap is a 26 an yours is a 0.6 - whats that like 10 strokes per 9? I thought it was crazy how the israeli dude was paying his bills with gambling winnings off the golf course - and the sprinter guy who they showed hitting a drive and then busting out sprinting down the fairway with his clicgear to get golf in during his lunch break - hes gotta be in ridiculously good shape. I have to agree with some of the other posters - every time I watch the big break i feel like most of the guys aren't worthy of getting an exemption into a pga event - I dont know if its the editing or what but they hit a whole lot of very bad shots that I never see even journeymen tour pros hit. Well - except for that 16 Kevin Na threw up and the chokeathon rory pulled in the masters.

Man I wish I could go down again. I stayed at the holiday inn orange lake resort but I saw the houses at remington and they looked really nice - most of them had pools in the backyard and were fenced in so your kids dont get drilled by errant drives. I can't lie I drilled quite a few houses myself. Its 17 degrees here in new york - when I down there a month ago it was in the low 70s - I was never a big fan of winter but ever since I picked up golf a few years ago I truly despise it.

I just returned from my golf trip and I wanted to report back on my experience. We decided to go with Kissimee Bay and Remington for our rounds over the weekend. I highly recommend these courses. I think when rating golf courses its important to note different people have different expectations so that influences their review - for me I dont rate courses without also factoring in their price - in my opinion a perfectly green lush course that costs 150 bucks does not win out over another course that may have some tee boxes that need a little work or inconsistent rough for 50 bucks. That said I think these two courses are good enough to please most people. For one price, 60 something for out of towners depending on tee time - 40 for florida residents, you can play unlimited holes at either course. This was important to my group since we planned on playing 27 holes each day. Additionally, you get included in your fee breakfast sandwiches with fountain drinks and coffee in the morning, a hot dog at the turn and hamburgers and lunch sandwiches when you finish your round with drinks included. The pace of play was not bad at all and the greens and fairways were in excellent condition. There were some areas of the rough that needed some watering but to honest it seems as if they intentionally focused their water spraying on the fairway and the green which is fine with me. Also it just meant that there was some yellow grass - in no area of the course was there dirt patches or anything like that - and again the greens and fairways were perfectly green. Kissimee bay is the tougher course with some tight fairways and a lot of water and doglegs in play - Remington is easier with wider fairways but there are still holes where water comes into play - I would say both offer interesting designs. I am from new york city and am used to playing public courses here in the city and in westchester - I would rate these two courses ahead of ones in the area like split rock and pehlam bay - and on par with a course like Maple Moor (my favorite course). I also used travelocity to book the trip and for three people was able to get a rental car, two bedroom apartment and flights for 290 each so orlando is def. an affordable option for those not wanting to explain spending an arm and leg to their spouse.

Looking for some info from fellow golfers familiar with Remington and Kissimee bay golf courses near orlando http://www.playgolfinkissimmee.com/g.../remington-gc/ - they have very good rates but I am interested in the general condition of the course, pace of play and basically whether we should consider other courses to play when we are down there around this same rate level - I have a golf trip from jan. 14 to the 17 and would be playing sat. and sun. They have an "all you can play" package which includes lunch for 60 bucks. The price is the best I've seen, especially since we plan on playing at least 27 holes, 2 but I dont want to walk into a 6 hour round or really poor playing conditions - thank you in advance for you posts.

I was just about to say the same thing about golfing as a single on vacation - I'm married with a kid and when we go on vacation I always bring the clubs and get up super early to play. My best experience so far was golfing in maui and kauai in hawaii - both islands has public courses where locals play - both times i got paired with people who told me all the beaches to hit, restaurants to eat at and things I should check out. Also I find people are always happy to help you navigate around their home course. I noticed your name cape cod beachfront golfer - I've also play some of the 9 hole courses around dennis, harwich and chatham - 20 bucks for 9 holes can't beat it and every stranger I got matched up with showed some great hospitality. I've also had some of my best rounds playing as a single - for some reason you tend to focus more, prob because you dont want to look like a fool out there.

Granted - Tiger is being followed on telecasts more than anyone else - but I do see other players hit bad shots and not toss their club all over the place. In some tournaments it seems as if EVERY bad shot he hits he has this out of proportion reaction - it gets a little old - and I dont see other players consistently doing the same thing. By getting away with it I mean that he still does it every week - so whatever penalties or fines they are imposing on him haven't had any affect. I was also more talking about the announcers and reporters following the game - they dont seem to condemn these actions as strongly as they should - or at least I dont hear them do it when I watch. It looks really bad when he starts carrying on like that - makes me think the dude is somewhat of an a-hole. Also I just watched the replay of it on the golf channel - the club went over the head of the spectators so it really could have hit someone - and when Tiger went to get the club it didn't seem like he even apologized - not even a little uh sorry for almost clocking you with my club. I've noticed that throwing the club on the floor is one of his go to tantrum moves - I've seen it a lot before - I haven't seen it take off into the gallery though.

I like Tiger but I've been noticing his outbursts for a while. I think he def. gets away with it because of who he is - I just dont see other players consistently throwing tantrums the same way. I also dont know if it comes from that fact that hes a perfectionist or that in his mind hes believes hes so so good that the idea of hitting a bad shot is something he cant deal with - like he believes every shot should be perfect. I gotta say I would be annoyed if I played a round with a guy on the weekend that reacted like that EVERY time he missed a fairway or a green.

thats horrible - good thing your kid is fine though. you gotta hold them high and tight to the rib cage - thats how you prevent fumbles.
