Been awhile since I posted but I j ust got a new GoPro and had an impromptu after work range session (excuse the jeans). I actually like most of the things about my swing right now, but one issue I have had since I started golfing a few years ago is that my head turns away from the ball at the top of my swing. Is it something I can fix, or is it lack of flexibility? Also if you have any other comments about my swing, they are welcome! Misses right now are pulls, hooks and the occasional pull/hook. Clubs are 7i, 3i, & Driver. Be sure to watch in HD ;-) Thank you!

Ok, even though all was well I had to tinker with my swing. Here is the new takeaway...I was able to get after it a bit more without fear of a big hook which was nice. I almost think my takeaway is a bit long and I come just a tiny tiny bit OTT. Any opinions other than I need to lose some weight? Lol

Dan Kochevar is also a very good coach at the Bensenville dome. -
Fellow Chicago guy here and softball player. I play 12" though... welcome to the site!

Good work Boogie. Are they giving free lessons there? Is this the one at the Rosemont? How's the equipment selection?

Latest swing video...hitting everything pretty well. My misses are mainly from being lazy and not turn hard right. I hit a toe'y duck hook when I do that. I've also put on about 20lbs! Time to get in the gym, lol.

Highlands of Elgin is another course at the top of my list out that way. Lots of fun holes there.

Schaumburg Golf Course is pretty much my home course. I used to work in Schaumburg and player there 3-4x a week. Got a new job and a baby and I'm lucky to play 18 once a week...practice more than play these days.

Do golf shoes really need spikes?
Chicago Lefty replied to goodputt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I used to always wear golf shoes. Now I only wear them when it's damp out. If its dry I prefer to just wear a comfortable pair of running shoes. -
I'm pretty sure Sabbatini wears the hat because of a cancer scare he had.

I would be interested in a round. I don't work Tuesday/Thursday most weeks but I can sneak out early the other days. Lmk what works for you.

I've been as low as 2, but haven't been practicing at all this season. The outside takeaway is basically an over correction of my previous flippy inside takeaway. As soon as I get it balanced out, I should be gtg.

I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years My current handicap index or average score is: 3.8hc My typical ball flight is: Draw/Straight The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Hook/Driver Snap Hook I've been playing the last two years with success but an inside takeaway that would cause me to come OTT. I haven't had time to practice a lot this year, but I did make a swing change early on in the season that allowed me to start hitting a more consistent draw and added over a club of distance. I added 15-20 yards to my driver by lowering the spin due to attacking the ball more from the inside. My misses now are over draws/hooks mainly that I am starting to get control of. I'm shooting 4-5 strokes higher than last season and my handicap is up a couple of points, but a lot of this is due to no short game practice. Oh and the fact that I'm now capable of snap hooking the driver once or twice a round. That's a miss I've never had. Today was the first time I got my new takeaway on video and I was shocked at just how outside and upright it is. Comments welcome... Videos:

75 today on a course I have never played and 76 a few days ago at my home course. I think I finally turned the corner and my ok rounds are mid 70's and my good ones are low 70's. I'd like to break par before the end of the year...

This was some of the best info I came out of the Aimpoint seminar with. Great visualization of the concept.

I shot a new personal best of 72 yesterday with 7 birdies after only 3 rounds of using Aimpoint...yea I'm sold on it :)

Shot my best round ever today. 1 over 72. Even par on the front and 1 over on the back. Made 7 birdies, 2 doubles, 4 bogies. Got the jitters at 16 and made double but got it together and birdied 18. Used Aimpoint and was just making eveything. Pretty excited!

I took a seminar on last Friday with John Graham and I feel as though I learned a lot. I haven't put too much time into practicing yet, but I did play two rounds and used it on every hole. Finding the inflection point started getting very easy the second round and I really had confidence in my reads. In the two rounds I did not misread a break direction once. I did, however learn that I tend to push a lot of putts! At the end of the second round I made a correction and started making everything. I'm a believer! I highly recommend a seminar as they provide a bunch of fantastic ideas and theories. Looking forward to putting in some significant practice time and charting the greens at my home course. Multiple breaks over crowns and into saddles are still too advanced for me to make a perfect read, but I'm not misreading the directions of the break anymore.

Aim Bias and Putting Geometry

Looks like no lefty stuff available on that fitting rack... :( -
Actually I think that shot was a 6 iron that came up just short. I play at sea level in Chicago so I didn't have to adjust my distances much. I was playing with a guy from Salt Lake City one day though that was completely lost when it came to choosing clubs.
